Well not great teasers to wake up to...I'm thinking Ed Scott might be a goner..And i pray this isn't true, he's the best thing to happen to the show in years..

well maybe they do listen to the fans to the point of messing stuff up...but if they dont listen to the majority of the fans at all...then we arrive where we are now, a HH of 1.0 for the 18-49 age group i knew the show was horrible but over a million viewers tuning out in the last two months...at this point they really cant afford to keep dena literally and figuratively...

I don't see how anyone can look at this positively when Nelson's given away that quote. From the Y&R connection, I assume he means Y&R is plagued with the same behind the scenes problems as DAYS. I think there's MAJOR mismanagement behind the scenes at the Sony soaps.

^That is exactly what I think too. That this just isn't exclusive to Days but Y&R as well and that perhaps there is a feud going on where they are fighting over maybe Griffith or something.

It's funny though. Yes, Days has always been mismanaged but never Y&R.

Well, when Nelson uses words like nasty and heartbreaking, I'm beginning to think that whatever has happened, no good is going to come out of it.

This is just awesome news to wake up to! I'm a little pissed that I'm so late for the party. 18 pages already? I love when DAYS gets big news like this. It makes everything so much more interesting to be a DAYS fan, rather than anything that is shown on-screen because the show is a complete bore right now.

I could see Higley wanting out because Ed Scott was against a lot of her ideas. Scott is a very respected person in daytime, and he knows what success is. Higley obviously doesn't and that's why her writing doesn't agree with Scott's correct view of what should be written for a daytime soap opera. If Corday brings Higley back, under the stipulation that Scott must leave, he has finally nailed the last nail into DAYS's coffin. Scott has improved this show, the look, the acting, etc. better than it has been in years.

As for the replacements, Jack Smith is a favorite of mine. I loved his work on Y&R. Unforunately, like others have said, DAYS may not be his place to write. He does write compelling, but SLOW-PACED stories. But on the upside to his slow pacing, there's something always happening in his stories, there are twists and turns everywhere, unlike other slow-paced writers like Reilly. I say give Smith a shot. That's been my dream since Hogan left.

I don't think they should promote anyone on the current DAYS writing team. Victor Gialanella, I don't think can handle the title of head writer. Yes, he wrote some great stuff during the strike, but a lot of that I still believe was Hogan and his team's leftovers, and Gialanella was only there to transition from Hogan to Higley, the same way Beth Milstein did it from Reilly to Hogan. I believe you just can't judge a interim head writer because none of the stuff you're seeing is their original work. They're going by someone else's plan and only setting someone else's plan. So in other words, they're just still a breakdown writer, but with a head writer title. But Gialanella does have history with DAYS, so I say they should definitely keep him.

I don't know if I'd give Rick Draughon the position either. I think they should keep him on the team, beacuse people have said that he is a big time fan of the show. And look what hiring a head writer who is a fan of the show can do. Just look at OLTL.

You know i would be fine with any outcome, as long as Days keeps Ed Scott, his directors and the casting lady..I want them to stay at Days..Please let them stay..

This is just awesome news to wake up to!
Don't celebrate too quickly. Between here and GoldDerby, Nelson has gone on to post the following...

"MAJOR, MAJOR NEWS IN MONDAY'S NELSON RATINGS. This story just got nastier! And it involves Y&R. Just wait... this DAYS story is going to break your hearts. It's a sad, sad, world in daytime. There's NO hope."

Why do I have this sick feeling that we may find out some things we really don't want to know?

One positive is that Sony is still behind Days as they are suggesting people to take over as HW. That is a good sign for the show. The one thing I wonder about is how Corday feels about Sony getting more and more involved. They already got Ed Scott involved and now they are suggesting replacement writers. It just makes me wonder if Corday will eventually get pissed off and not care and let the show go. I know he loves it but I often wonder what weighs more heavily with him...the show or his desire to get all the credit when the show does well. I still recall when he finally fired Langan even though he pushed many of the same things as Langan. He did it to save face and the mags and many fans praised him as a hero and he ate it up. He did more press that year too because he was the one getting credit. I think that is what he wants. He strives to be great, like his parents, in his own way. He wants to do what they did in a more modern way. He wants to create new couples and create a new era that is all his own and that he can boast about. I wonder if that ambition is more important to him. I get that sense at times but most times I think he cares too much and needs to step back.

Exactly.

Everybody is so enthused about the gossip-factor in all of this, but 1 ) It's probably not nearly as "shocking" as you want it to be (i.e. extramarital affairs and the like), and 2 ) Chances are it's going to make you think twice about a lot of people we all like to think have a little integrity.

All of this "what it could be? what it could be?" intensity has a really bad snowball effect.
