Paying, yes, but isn't there some tie cut when he signs a contract with a new soap? Otherwise, can't Corday force him to write for Days again if he wants him to (not sure why he would)? I would think that when a writer is fired, some terms of his contract become null and void. I don't know much about it though because I don't understand why Corday is still paying so many writers that have been let go - these writers must have amazing contracts. Where I work, if you are fired, you are lucky to get 2 weeks pay. Anyway, I just have a feeling, like many in here, that this hoopla is all somehow related to Hogan, the WGA and the writer's strike. |

Why do I get the feeling that when all is said and done, it will take a court of law to settle this thing?!!! Sounds like Corday is suing Sheffer for breach of contract and TPTB at Y&R are crying fowl!!! Just my own personal theory but nothing would suprise me at this point!!!! |

Wow! I spent an hour reading this thread! Thanks so much, Nelson, for the hints and maintaining your position amidst the drama. Thanks to the fans of the show who have some of the most creative minds in their speculation. It was entertainment. Nelson mentioned a scandal that happened last year on Days. What was that? I don't think it has to do with casting. I think it has to do with Dena leaving, and Hogan returning. If it affects Y&R and Hogan is at Y&R, then I have it in my mind that since Corday is currently paying Hogan, he screwed over Y&R by holding Hogan to his contract....actually, I have no clue. Although, I don't know why Days wouldn't be able to recover for that... So much to consider! I'll be watching the clock til 11am tomorrow and awaiting word from DR! |

Here's my theory. We have heard that a DAYS renewal was coming soon but still no release. The last time we heard a decision was coming, NBC forced Corday to hire JER to "save" the show. Maybe NBC had to cut the budget so much that they had to get rid of Ed Scott thus involving Y&R (Maybe he's going back) ironic: Poignantly contrary to what was expected or intended Maybe NBC has forced Corday to rehire JER and Stephen Wyman. (Which would be ironic and DAYS would probably never recover) Edited by Rick, Jul 27 2008, 09:32 PM.

Since Nelson used the thing of Martha Byrne's firing, I feel this has something to do with firing and not just someone leaving. Someone got fired and it is going to make Martha Byrne's firing seem minor compared to it. The key is who did the firing and all. If it all occurred before Corday got back from his vacation then who did the firing? It wouldnt' have been him. Nelson did say that there was more to the story than he originally thought which makes me think that all of this was there then and he just didn't know and found out later. |

I'm wondering if maybe Scott and Higley had one final blowup and Scott fired Higley pretty much on the spot without Corday's knowledge or approval, thus causing shit between Scott and Corday. Meanwhile, Higley might be saying she's quit to save face and/or spite Scott. |

Oh Gosh I hadn't even considered this (Sure someone else did but I aint weedin through 35 pages LOL) Maybe the only way NBC would renew DAYS was for Corday to fire Mary Beth Evans, Stephen Nichols, Peter Reckell, and Kristian Alfonso to recude the budget dramatically? I'm sure Dee and Drake would be safe because of Stefano coming back and figuring into their big story. Edited by Rick, Jul 27 2008, 09:36 PM.

I just can't see NBC wanting Corday to get rid of Alfonso and Reckell. Evans and Nichols, no question, but I really see Deidre and Drake being fired before Kristian and Peter. |

In case it's Reilly returning I have my "F*** You, Ken Corday" e-mail on standby (cleaned up language-wise, of course) and my vow that I am through with the show. If it isn't, well, I guess I wrote an e-mail draft for nothing. Let's see how this turns out. |

Or maybe it was a snowball effect? Perhaps a few big names were let go and other actors came to bat or threatened to quit and it snowballed into this huge mess with half the cast either fired or quitting? idk LOL my brain hurts |
