Well I guess this is good news. But with constant changes behind the scenes, DAYS will never recover. Plus, there is always Corday there... But okay, hope DAYS gets better with someone new and that they get someone great who can end the show on a high note (because, yes, I do think DAYS has a year or two left...)
I don't think going with a Y&R writer is good though. Today's fans are used to DAYS which are completely different than Y&R.
And Highly better not be going anywhere near Y&R! Y&R is getting awesome now and we don't need her there!
A part of me would love to see the beloved Sheri Anderson get the job, mainly because at some point she would piss of the fanbases like every other writer has over the past 10 years..and her fans would turn on her so quickly and want her fired..
 Perfect! That's what I would totally expect.

No one could be any worse than Dena and what's been on the screen for the last two months IMO. If she thought it was a good idea to have two almost random couples going at it in an elevator during a blackout as just a reason to show sex, to put an actress who comes across as a teeny bopper with a mature doctor, to continue the incestous pairing of Stax, and continuing to show John as an amoral man and shacking up with an equally amoral woman in Ava, then I question her ability to guage what many people want to see. (not all, I know). At least with Sheri some may finally have some hope and if it ends badly, then I'm no worse off than I am right now.

My problem with Sheri is totally irrational, I know, but I'm tired of seeing her name touted all the time. And it's a personal quirk, but I see it touted by some boards people I don't consider very objective and who I think have their own selfish (yes, I said selfish) agenda behind it. I realize there are people whom I KNOW are objective about Sheri and it has nothing to do with their own personal agenda, However, I've had several years of her being shoved down my throat by others who aren't. Her very name just turns me off because of that. The REASONS these unobjective people gave me turned me off even more, because it was all about them and their favorites, instead of giving me a well-rounded, WHOLE SHOW reason. I'm sure she's a perfectly wonderful writer and it's all me and my perspective, but that's that. And, since I more or less quit watching in the 80's more or less during her heyday, she couldn't have been all that wonderful, or I would have continued watching, at least in the summers! :D OK, modify that: I loved Bo and Hope and Steve and Kayla when I watched. John and Marlena did nothing for me. When I watched. But, I don't remember much beyond John in bandages. I do recall some of Diana Colville and John and enjoyed them. But, by the mid to late 80's, I pretty much quit. NEVER watched during the 90's.
I need to make one more modification on my rant: :P When I say boards, I mean various boards, not necessarily ONLY this one.
Apparently he was a mod at SC back in 2002 and he was very rude to some of the members there and he made it perfectly clear that he hated Philip, John and Marlena and that he was pro-Broe and pro-Brady.
Wow, that's not how I remember things at all. As one of the leads in the Phloe campaigning, I had lots of interaction with RD, personal e-mails, he gave us lots of help, and this never came across to me at all. Some of the really good Phloe in the past (before Phorgan crap started) was written by RD. He seems to get them.
Like I said, I don't know if it's true. That is what someone told me, but I guess they lied.
Your signature - LOL! I thought it was a bug on my screen. lol

Well considering your aforementioned dislike of J&M, then I am not surprised that you don't want a person who most of their fans like writing the show. We all come from our own personal bias. I admit mine and right now I would take any writer who I think might write well for them and who also wrote well for Payla/Bope.

But my take (as well as the take of quite a few others I've seen on boards is......) If Sheri Anderson backburnered Doug and Julie, the ultimate supercouple, what makes you think she won't backburner J&M? And, your assumption of me is rather unfair, to my perspective. I happened to love Steve and Kayla and Bo and Hope, and Sheri Anderson apparently wrote well for them, too. So, no, I doubt my non-hero-worship of Sheri Anderson has anything to do with just my dislike for John and Marlena. They just did nothing for me. I enjoyed Don and Marlena and Roman and Marlena, personally. Oh, well, time for church.
I would LOVE for Sherri to return, she is a person who knows what she wants to do and doesn't screw it up.
This is something she said about JM years ago after a fan asked her about them.
I have always been, and will always be a John and Marlena fan. When I was lucky enough to meet Pat Falken Smith and she hired me as her assistant, Deidre Hall was the first audition I was involved in. And when I returned to Days of our Lives in the early 80s, the recast of Roman was our top priority. Thus, both Deidre and Drake have a huge part of my heart. What they have individually as both characters and people, which is magnified as a couple, is likability and warmth. There is an amazing comfort factor, and when it's wrapped in such glorious packages who can resist it?
Another thing she once said from answering a fan question.
If you were to become head writer of Days ever again, would you want to make John Roman again?" - Jiggs
Jiggs, In my mind and heart Drake will always be Roman. When I wrote for Josh Taylor when he was Chris Kositchek I loved him, and perhaps it's my clinging to the past, but one reason I stopped watching the show was that Roman recast. Josh is a terrific actor, but doesn't have the particular kind of likability that Roman needs. If only he'd been brought back as Chris--who was a great, sexy character! Plus I've never felt the all-too-critical heat between him and Deidre that a true supercouple needs. No one connects like Drake and Deidre!
Would I want to make John into Roman again? In a heartbeat. Could it be done? I'm not sure. It would take alot of maneuvering--perhaps even falling back on the old trick of this all being a 10 year long nightmare!
For me, Days has had so many writers rewriting history that I as a viewer don't trust it any more. It's not just that the dead come back to life so easily, but when established characters have new 'loves of their lives' I feel cheated. I want to know that Bo will always love Hope, Jennier will love Jack, Roman (Drake's Roman!) will always be passionately commited to Marlena--and even if they're separated because of emotional circumstances they'll always be the love of each other's lives. And some how they'll always get back together. People CAN love more than one person, but in different ways.
But that's just me!
I hope the producers grow a brain and bring Sherri back,PLEASE.
I'm sorry but this isn't the 80s anymore. I don't think I would enjoy that. I don't know though... We can always give her a chance. If the patterns continues, we can then call for her to get fire and trash her. LOL!

My assumption is unfair to you LOL! You made many of those about what I wrote. Didn't say she wouldn't bb them, did I? Just said they had a chance with her. You often say how much you don't like J&M, so of course I would assume that colors your opinions. I already admitted my love of them does that for me. And from my perspective there are many fans (besides J&M ones) who would like to see Sheri write for the show again. And for the record, I don't think there is much of a chance that Corday would ever hire her. It's nice to dream though!

To be honest I think we are way, way beyond John being Roman. Other than making some fans happy I don't think it would give the show the story it needs to really turn it around and it would mean even more rewrites that I feel would do more damage than good.
I think the answer, if there is one, is to look ahead to the future and bring in blood that is relatively fresh to soaps rather than looking back and trying to recapture a past that is long, long gone.
This news is sort of sad to me because her characters were played out in relation to each other. Love the DiMera's clan supporting each other, love the Brady clan, and the tiny Horton clan (missing poor Nick). She had a way of letting you realize those relationships. What I really hated was breaking up Chelsea and Nick and giving poor Theo an affliction. Will Trent Robbins' family stay around? Will Nicole actually be redeemed? I also love her way with nuJohn and the fact that Stefano is coming back I suppose to resurrect the old John. Now, I wonder how these stories will play out and if Stefano will be back.
As much as I hated Dena, I really don't want her to go.
Well if not Sherri,I would love Tom Casiello,I would say JER cause I am a fan of some of his work, but sometimes I am not a fan of his work, but least with him since I have seen so much of his work,I know how he is with the things he does,I know the type of things he likes to do.

I would love to have Tom Casiello, too. I've been checking his blog since early this morning hoping he would post his thoughts. He's online right now, we'll all have to keep checking it out.
Well, I'm in the "been there, done that, got the t-shirt" camp.
I really think that it doesn't matter who writes for Days because they can't get around Ken Corday's micromanagement. Someone posted on another board that Douglas Marland could rise from the grave and write for Days and fans will still call for his ousting because of Corday not knowing how to run a soap.
I also think that continuous writing transitions only chip away even more at the show's foundation and eventually the show is going to collapse.
