Say what you want about Higley but she did keep the ratings even in April and May. Then comes June and July and start to drop.
But Higley basically confirmed that the elevator sex "umbrella story" (first week of July) and Java sex (third week of July) were her ideas. I'm not seeing how this absolves her of responsiblity for the ratings plunge.
i am not disagreeing with you but is it possible that with dena already in hot water for crossing picket, would she say whatever she needed to say to try and keep her job...like a puppet someone else had her strings so to speak, just a thought...

Yes, because actors writing STORYLINES, not dialogue, is a HUGE INFRACTION against Guild LAWS.
I'm confused as to how an altered script would constitute evidence of that, though. Changing the long-term direction of a story as opposed to dialogue requires intervention much earlier in the writing process (i.e. outlines and breakdowns). It can't be accomplished merely by taking a red pen to a script.
That's a very good point, Ponz. Changing storyline would mean changing sets and even what actors are in a scene.
i have seen both major changes of what characters are together in scenes and new sets the last couple of months

Who said it was one script? Now you guys are making things up. They have scripts, breakdowns, everything including emails!
Well, I don't think even a few scripts, breakdowns and emails are automatically proof either. It depends what they contain and pertain to.

Exec. Producers have long interfered with scripts and put their own stuff into them. Ed Scott is definitely one of those types who do that.

Exec. Producers and the network interfere with Days all the time and try to tell the headwriter what to write.

The only thing about this that is new is that at least one actor and reportedly a few more are actually involved too.
ED..i wish ed scott had told the headwriter what to write rather than getting some actors to join him in making changes himself that would have at least avoided another WGA lawsuit! JMO...

I would like to know how this affects others and if their material is going to improve. Quite frankly, I don't care about this particular actress' material.

I just can't see Ed being that desperate. Even if he had sex with an actress or whatever, it's just a bit much. He broke union rules to save a show he's been at for about a year? I mean, he can find another job. I would buy him doing this for Y&R because he was there forever. I just can't see it for Days. Hell, I can't see it at all. Sure, sometimes people do things and doubt they will get caught but knowing full well Days was already under investigation for the strike stuff, why would he take such risks? Days was already under a microscope so it's an even bigger risk. It's just hard to imagine someone like Ed doing that and taken so many risks with the higher then normal probabilities that he would be caught. Something isn't adding up and it's not just me defending Ed. I feel like there is a missing link and I wouldn't be surprised if it somehow has to do with Higley and her wanting to get Scott out and trying to make herself look more favorable to the WGA and others. We already know she hates criticism so maybe she figured she could make herself look like a victim and make herself more endearing to fans. There are just so many questions.
i agree as far as ed got 99 problems and a bitch aint one lol!!! he might be thinking with his head south of the border when it comes to sleeping around but i believe ed to be a smart man who if had done this would leave no trace of evidence much less his names on rewritten scripts.

OK, something just hit me. I'm not too familiar with the writing rules, but Jasmine Guy co-wrote an episode, I know, for "A Different World" and Alex Borstein (who plays Lois and others) co-wrote for "Family Guy." Are they an exception to the apparent rule here, or are they WGA members?

They probably got credit for their work on it and even probably had to join the WGA once they wrote something for television. It is a bit different. And they were given credit for their work in show credits.

What is going on behind the scenes at Days would be as though I wrote the whole show but in the credits you are given credit as the writer. Dena submits one thing for this week's shows but it is completely different once it airs. I am sure there are always things like tweeking here and there because maybe it comes out better a different way than originally written. However, it sounds like what Dena is saying that they are completely changing the way the story is going and they are changing her original story as well. Example, Dena submits a love scene with Sami/EJ, but when it airs it is about Sami/Lucas. Yet it is Dena's name on the end credits to take the heat when people complain and to ratings drop.

I hope that made sense.

i don't know who it was, and i honestly don't care, but i do feel the whole "go back to your real lives" thing was pretty condescending.

the ONLY reason people have gotten so heated about alll of this is because we all love and care about the show so much. if we didn't, there would be crickets chirping on the mssage boards, and the show would tank. trust me, the day i completely quit caring about the show and "go back to my real life", is the day DOOL loses one more viewer.

Yeah get back to your real life but be there when we need you! Hypocrite.

I love this board because we can have a reasonable debate, for as long as we want, in respect, without Nazi Moderators censoring your every word. Who wants to go to a board where all you are allowed to say is "I love so and so" or I hate so and so". Thats boring.

This thread has grown 124 pages in less than 48 hours and that says people care about the topic on a forum. It isn't reason to moderate the discussion even more.

I just hate that I am not living on the same continent as you are and am in a different time zone! Now I miss all the fun! With the actress reveal and and apparently the actress showing up here as well.

About the actress... IF I got everything right from the hints and IF the actress did this... and IF she has come over here to tell us all to go back to our lives because she has feelings.. then I think it's ridiculous to tell us to get a life. I hate when celebs are crying when things get rough. I mean, a part of their life as a celeb is that people are talking about their lives. It's a horrible thing, but that's a price to pay if you are a celeb.

I am sorry for what people at DAYS are going through, but IF this actress did what she's being accused of, then I'm sorry, she should have thought about this before she did it. She had no right to do it. I don't care how bad her story sucked (IMO her story sucked before DH even came on board and her character has annoyed me for years now), but she should have tried to fix things differently. Not by writing her own scenes and storylines. It was WRONG and now (again, if all of it is true), she has no right to say get a life to the fans.

And yeah, I agree that this changed stuff hasn't even aired.
