From SOD Online:

Daytime For Obama Chat
Got a lot on your mind this election season? You're not the only one! Several of daytime's most vocal and passionate actresses will join Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH) this Wednesday, Oct. 1, to discuss issues that directly impact America's women and children.

Schedule permitting, Kassie Depaiva (Blair, OLTL), Jane Elliot (Tracy, GH), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, DAYS), Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B), Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS), Kimberly McCullough (Robin, GH), Kelly Monaco (Sam, GH), Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC), Heather Tom (Katie, B&B), Bree Williamson (Jessica, OLTL) and Kim Zimmer (Reva, GL) — and maybe more — will all converge with Grahn as posters watch and chat along in the chatroom on Nancy Lee Grahn's official web site. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) will also join the divas via teleconference. Fans can "watch" daytime's divas chat on Grahn's virtual porch from 8 p.m. EST to 9 p.m. EST and then interact with them on Grahn's message board afterwards.

"We all want to put our minds together and have a dialogue," Grahn tells Digest and Weekly readers. "There's real accessibility between daytime actors and our audience — they're smart, productive, wonderful women so we need to chat!" Log on to Grahn's official message board at http://www.nancyleegrahn.com for more information.

I just pray that it stays a serious conversation between actors and fans about political views and not be reduced to some fan-gurl fest, i.e., "Who cares about all this politic stuff, when do we get a JaSam wedding and baby????" "I looooooove JLex!" etc. etc.

I'm almost afraid to look even though I would LOVE to hear this.

Full disclosure -- I'm not an Obama supporter, but I don't think you have to worry. There is a lot of interest in this year's election among people who have not taken part in the process before and I think you'll find people willing to discuss the issues.

Regardless of who wins, we've brought more people to the table. That's the first step toward getting involved in your country.

I certainly hope so - but the fact is, fangurls are everywhere.

This sounds cool but like OBK I hope it doesn't become a fangirl frenzy. Hopefully it works out because it sounds like a cool idea.

I agree with Kitty. I hope this is taken seriously. Now, celebrities have as much a right as anyone to support their candidate, but I don't want people voting for someone BECAUSE a celebrity supports that candidate, and I don't want celebrities using their fame to throw it out that their position is right and everyone else's is wrong. And this is coming from someone who will probably vote for Obama. It smacks of that whole "Obama is a Britney celebrity" jive that should really be avoided. AND, if some of these celebrities are doing this just to promote themselves rather than Obama, I'll really be pissed. And yes, I have some favorite actors listed there. Hopefully, this will be archived so I can hear it later when I can listen with an open mind and still think well of these actors once it's done. Yeah, I'm petty that way. :P

And, in all fairness, is there a "Daytime for McCain", or is that verboten? It just seems the status quo is that, if you're not a Democrat in entertainment land, you're not much of anything. I know there are a few brave souls who will back up Republicans (and of course, an entertainer IS the governor), but by and large, it seems the most vocal ones back the Democrats.

I just want folks to vote from an education viewpoint, not from a "bandwagon" viewpoint, based on a one or two minor platforms that won't impact the majority of the United States. I hope I'm not asking for too much.

Lady, you are correct. I think some people look at Obama and think JFK and it's like "whoa whoa". Don't vote for a guy because he gives great speeches and looks good in a suit. Take time to learn the issues on both sides.

I gotta believe there are some daytime celebrities out there who are McCain backers.

lady, thank you for mentioning Daytime for McCain. why aren't THEY rising up? And don't tell me there aren't soap fan McCain supporters. I'd bet my eye that Hunter Tylo's one of them since she's so staunchly pro-life. Why aren't THEY getting women involved? Why aren't THEY speaking up? Or, is that just good enough for the Christian television stations, TYLO?!!!

Big surprise Grahn's involved with this. She lives to preach about abortion rights, every chance she gets.

Put your hands up for Obama

It's Nancy's choice to "preach" about abortion rights. Her stance shouldn't be held against her character nor should Hunter Tylo's opposition be used as a measure to venerate or classify her as a McCain supporter. There are some pro-choice Republicans and vise versa.

In any event, I do hope it's a legitimate chat and not muddled by fangurls. However, this election has generated a lot of interest. I think the majority can delienate between the actor, character and not rest votes on those persusaions.

LMAO!

Hopefully everyone else who particpates will feel the same way. But as I have seen many, many times, fans tend to get really stupid when they're around an actor, even if it's in a chatroom. And yes, I've seen fans that only care about getting scoop on their favorite soap couple and don't give a damn what else the actor has to say.

Just ask Na'Vell. He's run into a few of those fans while hosting his shows.

Exactly. I get very nervous when folks start spouting "one issue" as the deciding factor on who's on what side, especially about abortion. Yes, it's an important issue, but I don't perceive it as a deciding factor as to which leader is the best. It would be sad and scary if this was the litmus test. What is more important is the economy, health care, education, Social Security...you know, the stuff that affects probably 85% of the population?

Hey John, I should have clarified that Obama reminds a lot of people of JFK, just the speeches he gives and the turnout he gets. It wasn't my intention to make the post political. :)

I think he does give good speeches. I may not agree with all of his policies, but the man is charismatic.
