Sides for "Young Max"

Bedroom Frag
Newly created flashback

Bedroom Frag: The room is fairly dark. Young Max (three years old) is in bed, playing with his toy puppy.

Page 1
***
Young Max: Night, Charlie. Sleep tight.

(Imitated dog, loudly)

Woof, woof! Woof, woof!

(Suddenly the door opens, Trent enters)

Trent: What the hell's going on in here?

Young Max: (scared) Nothing.

Trent: You're supposed to be asleep. (re: puppy) Give me that.

Young Max: (pulls dog under the cover) No.

Page 2
***
Trent: No? You're telling your father no? Who do you think you are, you little swine?

Young Max: Please, Daddy. Charlie helps me sleep.

Trent: Oh, yeah? Is that why you're still wide awake making all that noise? Now give me that damn dog, Max!

(Max doesn't move)

Trent: (cont) You little...

(Trent goes and grabs the dog from under the cover and starts out)

Young Max: (cries) Charlie! Charlie!

Trent: You've got to learn to get along in life without toys, Max. Gotta learn.

(Trent slams out of the room. On: young Max, sobbing)

Fade to: black

I guess Max starts to deal with his abusive childhood after Trent's death. The death must make him come full-circle with it.

Will Roscoe play Trent in these flashbacks?

That's a good question Sindacco. I thought RB had finished his run completely....unless, they're hiring someone to play a younger versoin of him.

Thanks, Jonny

Maybe they will shave Roscoe to make him look younger.

Yes, I think it said in last week's SOD that Roscoe will still be featured in some flashbacks.

Yeah, I remember hearing about the Born taping flashback scenes before he officially left the show.

LOL, I saw the "woof, woof" at a glance and thought they were recasting Max the Dog! (No, not really) :D

Intriguing. More fodder for a possible Darin Brooks nomination?

GET EM STEPH!!

These are likely among the flashbacks Born will be shooting. It was said he would air through October. Having him shave may be a good idea. Hell, have him dye his hair. It would make it authentic, especially if he looks like he does in the pic above.

I like this. I like them digging back into Max's childhood. I've been waiting for him to confront his demons and it's only natural this would bring it out of him. Look forward to this. It can only further help Max's character. It does seem like they are really giving Brooks meaty material this year. He stands a good shot next year at a younger actor nod. Hell, he got in this year with no strong material at all and he has some good work this year already.

The Younger Actor category is so weak. I can't think of the many the qualify so he has a good shot at getting a nom.

And the fact that he got a nod last year only helps him. They know him now and I recall last year some voters seemed to make mention of him.

The fact the category is so weak gives him a good shot at winning too.

yeah, some of the people that viewed the tapes last year actually thought we submitted well rounded tapes.

And now he has his single tear scene with Stephanie and the moment besides Pa's grave. It's tough to be berate the show for thinking DB is some kind of miracle find when the industry rewards him with nominations.

A group of reporters. ON Lexie as she's approached by a woman, Donna Farrell.

***
Page 1

Donna: Dr Carver

Lexie: (trying to place her) Hi. And you are...

Donna: Donna Farrell. We met at the hospital a few months ago.

Lexie: Were you a patient?

Donna: No. I lead the parents support group for autism.

Lexie: Oh, yes. I remember now.

Donna: I saw you at one or two sessions, but you never came back. (Smiles) Hope we didn't scare you off.

Lexie: Not at all. My schedule's been so crazy lately and ... when I have extra time I like to spend it with Theo.

Donna: I understand.

***
Page 2

Abe: Thanks for coming. (They shake hands)

Lexie: How do you two know each other?

Abe: Donna volunteers on our task force on environmental issues.

Lexie: (thrown) Really? You do that.... and head up that parents' support group?

Abe: (smiles) And she has four kids at home.

Donna: (smiles) Life's a bit hectic.

Abe: So Donna... you said you were recruiting new volunteers?

Donna: Yes. I've done research which suggest that the biggest obstacle to successful recruitment is speaking in generalities --

Abe: So what you'll need to do is give people specifics about exactly you do --

Donna: Right. And what our expectations are ---

***
Page 3

Donna: We obviously need a compelling message. I also intend to gather some testimonials, post them on our website...

Abe: You're doing a tremendous job, Donna.

Donna: Well, I think it's important to recruit from every demographic, so our brochure should be versatile enough to speak to a wide range of prospects.

Lexie: All these women.... they're so brave and noble. Instead of wallowing in self-pity they get out there and ... help other people. They make a difference.

Donna: (glances at Abe) Since your husband and I were talking about recruiting volunteers... I wonder if, by any chance, you'd be interested in joining the environmental task force? A physician would be a tremendous asset, actually.

***
Page 4

Lexie: (thrown) Oh. I .... (looks at Abe) I hadn't thought about it.

Donna: I realize you're busy and, of course, you son comes first, but...

Lexie: I'll do it. I would love to join the task force. (bravely looks at Abe) Beats tea with the ladies' auxiliary, right?

(Abe takes Lexie's hand in his, smiles)

Donna: That's great. Thank you so much.

END
