The only faith I have concerning GL is that the more time they have, the further Wheeler & Co. will run it into the ground (if that's even possible). |

:roflol: Nah. I won't go that far. I love the show. Always have, always will. The characters feel like family and all but it's not my life. It's a part of it but it's not something I go that far about. I'm happy though. We all knew it was coming. The more confirmation the better. The fact that it is for two years says alot. I do think part of the reason for that is Corday is allowing NBC to have a say in things. I think that played a part in the casting of Gering and Martsolf. Also, I think Corday is allowing for more NBC synergy (people from TBL and American Gladiators and so on) and is also allowing more time to promote NBC causes like the Green movement. Whatever works. The Emmy nods probably helped as well and so did the fact that the rest of NBC is in disarray pretty much. I also think the show has made strides this year and has held it's own through the turmoil ratings-wise. Granted the numbers suck but they are basically where they were earlier this year where many soaps dropped. They are in the middle of the pack with everyone else. If they can pull this thing together, who knows. I think the fact that this is two years is probably what held everything up and I'm sure the budget and what cuts need to be made is why we have yet to hear an announcement. I don't expect it to be like GL but no doubt there will be cuts somewhere. The renewal announcement will likely come with the announcement of cuts. This also explains why Corday was so sure of himself in his last interview. He felt secure in saying the show will be on for another 5 years. NBC does seem a bit more behind them. They have gotten more promotion and now they are getting this fanfest at Citywalk and all these blogs on the Days site. It all has to be a good thing. I wouldn't worry about NBC. If Days can still get a renewal after all the chaos of the past few years, anything is possible. This is definitely good news for daytime. I don't think it means anything for GL and ATWT though. Maybe ATWT can breathe a bit easier but GL...I think they are just on life support. I would never say I want it canceled but it's sad over there. Really sad. |

This definitely made my week a lot better after having a shitaeous week so far. As someone who has missed at tops 6 or 7 shows this year and usually less than that each year I am happy to say the least about this announcement. As soon as DAYS is gone I am done with soaps, I just don't care for any of the others. |

Ditto! When DAYS dies, I am done with soaps for good. That being said, I couldn't be happier that I get to enjoy it for 2 more years. In this day and age of the dying American soap opera genre, that is a HUGE 2 years in my books! Edited by Mitchapalooza, Oct 3 2008, 01:41 AM.

I will probably watch other soaps but my emotional attachment to Days obviously trumps all the others. For me, it was Days and AW. I was the most attached to both of them and now I'm done to one. Once Days goes, I will watch the others but they won't emotionally effect me as much. |

DAYS for me is just a show I can flip on late at night before I go to bed and just unwind. Sure sometimes it down right sucks, but I truly adore the show and will HATE to see it go whenever that day comes. I am just glad I get to see it for another 2 and a half years. My other obsession is Nip/Tuck and it is going off in 2011, hopefully I won't be devastated with my two top shows going off at the same time. :frown: |

I am glad to hear that Days fans will get two more years. To be honest, part of me is a bit surprised by the renewal considering the shenanigans and bad writing since 2003. Hopefully it can get back on course. I love the classic stuff... |

*Sigh* Not that I would want anybody to lose their favorite TV show or anything, but I was so hoping that Days would be dumped so ABC and CBS could grab some of the actors from the show. I want the actors that play Bo, Hope, Sami, Kate and Alexandra somewhere else. I watched DAYS for 18 years and I'm just beyond over it. I'll never go back to watching it everyday, so I miss those actors. But I am happy that you guys got the show for two more years. I hope you all really enjoy the last two years of it, (if it is the last two years of it) |
