http://s15.zetaboards.com/SoapsWeb/topic/6558830/1/?x=0

SoapsWEB is proud to announce the nominees for the First Annual Webbie Awards honoring the best in soap operas of all time. For weeks a special panel have been submitting ballots in which they could choose from nominees for any soap opera from radio, television, daytime, primetime, or anywhere in the world. The names mentioned most often in each category were assembled from SoapsWEB, Soap Opera Network, Soap Opera Source, and Daytime Roaylty to make the nominations you see below. In the coming weeks, information will be passed on that will allow you to now participate in choosing the winners of the awards. Special thanks to the individuals who submitted ballots and helped to make this happen.

Thank you so much Steve for thinking up this idea. It was great fun to be a part of. The winners, for the most part, are great. Can't wait for next year.

Thanks Amello. And thanks for all your help with it.

As to next year, I have some categories I already want to add and I want to name each of the specialty awards after their first winner (i.e. The Irna Phillips Pioneer Award; The William J. Bell Legend Award; etc.)

But at this point I can't even think about that. I think it soon may be time for me to hang up my online board participation. Every year that goes by just reminds me how out of touch I am with the modern things. Now that I am back to viewing soaps I think I can enjoy them more if I just stay away from boards altogether. I have been so excited about AMC the last 8 days but the last 2 days on the boards have brought me so down with it. Gil and I had our 2nd Friday night gathering to watch all weeks worth of AMC tonight (well Friday night) and I told them some of the things I have been reading and even they couldn't believe it. I am at the point it is just best to watch and not even know what is going on online.

Add to that I have spent so much time on SoapsWEB that I don't have time for my genealogy or my writing of my 2 shows anymore and I miss both of those. I really wanted SoapsWEB to take off and I know those few months I got behind posting stuff due to health issues hurt, but I was really hoping things would have picked up over there by now. We get a lot of hits and views but that's just it. I appreciate the views alot and hopefully more discussion will come out of them eventually.

The Webbie Awards Forum got a total of 4,490 views/hits, but only 36 people voted. I am so grateful for the 36 but the % of votes to hits really stinks.

Oh well there is always next time. Who knows maybe I'll turn it over to you next time Amello.

I can't blame you for being discouraged, Steve. But it really provided some of us with a lot of fun. I don't understand why there were so many views and so few voters. I'm still finding my way around over there but it's a great site IMO. I hope you get a burst of optimism by next year. It's "funny" that your online experiences are making viewing tougher. I can understand it with the spoilers. But the opposite has been happening to me in the past couple of months. This site, yours and some of the Tv Guide stuff has given me a little renewed enthusiasm. I probably would not have gone back to watching OLTL if it hadn't been for some of what I "heard" here. I put it on my DVR and I enjoy the hell out of it every day. I set up an old VCR so I could start to watch AMC again after reading all the hype and seeing promos of the Tornado. That brings me back to 5 soaps. LOL! I don't know that I'll stick with all of them because of time constraints and other projects. But if anyone told me a couple of years ago that I'd be watching some of these shows again, I'd have laughed at them. Your health and happiness are the most important things and I can't imagine the energy it takes to run a site but I'm enjoying it while I can.

Why is Roman under the heros,I have never seen that man rescue anyone and Erica Cane for ICON,why not just pick Susan Lucci since Susan Lucci is the one that plays her.

When Roman Brady was first introduced played by Wayne Northrup, he was a big hero on Days. When I voted for Roman I was thinking of the original Roman, but the one now played by Josh Taylor. That's just my 2 cents.

I voted for Bo, but I can understand why Roman was there, as well.

I voted for Erica in the Icon Award category. Erica Kane, the character, is an icon in her own right, just as much as Susan Lucci is. Probably even moreso, in fact.
