And it shows, SoapNet hardly promotes DAYS to the extent it does with Y&R and the ABC soaps now. Also, they've screwed with DAYS' timeslot numerous times over the past two years or so.

DAYS used to be SoapNet's highest rated program when it first premiered on the network, and it's viewership seems to have eroded seriously since.

I have a feeling when SoapNet's contract with DAYS comes up for renewal, they'll pass. No mater how much Frons supposedly "loves" DAYS.

SoapNet is trash. Days airs really late and the marathons are on after midnight.

A lot of times, I forget that DAYS is even still on SoapNet.

I've grown accustomed to DAYS' odd timeslots on Soapnet and I find myself watching more often again. Of course, my own schedule is always different so being able to catch it at 10pm or 9am the next day works for me. I even find the 11pm to 4am marathon on Sunday night to work for me at times.

It's sad though that DAYS' numbers are so crappy... and when was the last time they did a special Soapnet-made commercial for DAYS? "Six degrees of separation: the younger Salemites" or something cutesy like that.

Didn't they switch DAYS and Y&R time slots because DAYS had started to perform poorly?

Yep. And I've read before that DAYS really relies on the SOAPnet money.

That is surprising, but hey people are watching just not on the network. Then again this may show how much the prime time shows are sucking.

The reason DAYS is not mentioned is because it's considered late night, being on from 11:00pm-Midnight.

DAYS contract with SOAPnet is up this March.

I remember reading that there were 4 or 5 cable networks that made bids on the rights to air DAYS in primetime but SOAPnet ultimatly won so even if SOAPnet doesn't renew it, it will turn up somewhere.

I find it funny that they are mentioning how good AMC is doing on the ratings on soapnet but they are the only soap that does not get a marathon on the weekends. I have been writing asking why there marathon is no longer on but they never explain why?

They've royaly screwed up the times for quite a few of their marathon's..... :flipoff:

I'm tired of seeing all the TV Movies they show on the weekends, if I want to see those I'll watch LMN..........

But then, that was back when DAYS was going through a resurgence in popularity due to the Salem Stalker buzz. I'm not sure how many cable networks would still be interested in it, now. Honestly, I'd be surprised if there were any.

I can see NBC shipping it off to Oxygen. I actually think that would be a good move. If I was working at Oxygen, I would invest in these soaps. NBC owns Oxygen so I'm sure something can be worked out. They could even start airing Passions on that channel. That network is all about the female viewers.

Doesnt surprise me the #s are going up. More people are getting cable/satelite with the 2009 change over coming. And the daytime soap model is not in line with today's society. The UK and Aussie soaps do much better with their 6-8p airings. The canadian airing of Y&R at 4:30 or later in certain areas makes it very popular up here, same for the post news hr airings of Coronation Street. People are just not home during the day anymore.

I predict in our area of Tennessee that SoapNet will see a drop. Ever since we have had SoapNet on our cable it has been part of the basic cable package. Beginning last Thursday they moved it to a section that requires the ordering of an additional tier. They said that new licensing charges with SoapNet and GSN required them to move them from basic to the tier package. Unemployment is getting higher around here and many people are cutting back. One of the things many are dopping is the additional stuff on cable and going to basic which is 78 channels - albeit many of them being News or Spanish speaking channels. But that next tier is 15 dollars extra a month and only adds 5 channels 2 of them being SoapNet and GSN. I don't see many paying that.

My parents(live in Nashville) have the dish and SoapNet has been on that 2nd level tier for at least a year. They refuse to pay for more than basic cable, so I know they won't be viewing SoapNet.

That brings up a good point Steve, didn't even think about that angle until you brought it up.

Well, of course SoapNet is going to push ABC shows.

And of course it's going to push Y&R since it's the most watched soap.

So, it's logical and understandable they'd give them the best timeslots, but I do think they should cut back on one of the primetime shows and give DAYS that spot.
