It's back on our schedule here. It starts back November 10th at 12:00 a.m.

Looks like they are dumping Days marathon for the AMC one.

I knew they were getting lots of complaints about the dropping of the AMC one.

Huh. This is really interesting, especially for Days fans. I wish I knew when Soapnet's contract with Corday Productions is up. Anyone know when they started airing DOOL?

Thanks for the info, Steve!

They started airing DAYS in March 2004, during the middle of the Salem Serial Killer/Stalker Storyline. If I remember correctly, the deal was for five years, which means, if SOAPnet doesn't renew DAYS, the last airing will be in March 2009. Which, IIRC, is around the same time the NBC deal is up.

Hmmmmm. Do you think DAYS's renewal depends on if SOAPnet will renew their agreement again? I have often heard that the money made from the licensing agreement DAYS has with SOAPnet is poured into the production of the show.

^^^ Wow. That's a little scary. Thanks, DRRick! I have no idea if one will influence the other but it sure sounds like they're experimenting with phasing Days out, probably to see what kind of response they get. And yeah, I'm sure NBC is looking very closely at that.

And the high soap ratings for AMC from that press release a few weeks ago (with no mention of Days) is very telling as well.

If it is indeed true that SOAPnet's money is poured into DAYS' production budget, this could be a very good reason why DAYS hasn't been officially renewed by NBC. If they can't pay the bills, they can't stay in the studio. And I don't think NBC wants to renew a licensing agreement with a show unless they know they can pay the bills and won't go overbudget(which I've heard they've done before).

And I don't see Ken Corday taking a cut to keep the show going either.

This is so dumb. Why can't they just cut the marathon of movies instead of dropping one shows marathon.

Cutting the movies (as much as I hate them) would be a dumb business decision for SN, since they're actually bringing in better numbers than DAYS (supposedly).

They also bring in more money for the network. Right now they have to pay more for Days than they do the movies which are a lot cheaper. And by them getting higher ratings than Days evidently does then they make more money.

But according to sources it is not just Days that they do better than on Sunday night. I know one source has told me that they score better on Sunday night than any show has. So before Days was the classic GH stuff. So they are supposedly even doing better than those.

Yeah, believe it or not, from what I understand, Steve is right. The movies are the highest-rated programming on the network. As much as we hate them, somebody out there is watching them.
