Phillip Returns
Grant Aleksander will return to GUIDING LIGHT as Phillip Granville Spaulding in January 2009. "I love the show very much. I always have, and when I left [in 2004], I tried to make it clear that there were no hard feelings," Aleksander tells Soap Opera Weekly. For more from Aleksander and how GL got him back, pick up the Nov. 25 issues of Weekly and Soap Opera Digest.

Why on God's green earth would he want to return to that clusterfuck mess? I mean, we all know it can't be for the money, since GL doesn't have any.

I always thought there were only two ways that Grant would ever come back, either pigs would fly or the show was coming to an end. Since I don't see any pigs flying out my window I have to wonder if GL isn't going to be canceled soon

Should be interesting though to see Phillips reaction to the fact that the love of his life Beth married and has a child by his father, who once tried to kill him and is now sleeping with their daughters ex-fiancee!!! :drunk:

Sharongate, bitches!

I don't care anymore, too much damage has already been done to GL, the Spauldings, and Phillip for me to care.

I love you Grant, but you should have kept away from this shithole.

Is he a bad actor?
Far from it, he'll be a freakin' breath of fresh air. Now if only they could do something about that shooting format...

Is he a bad actor?
On the contrary, he's practically too good for GL, in its current state.

I get a feeling he is being brought back for the end of the show. I really do.

I just can't see it happening otherwise. It was hinted at it for years. They tried so many times and, all of a sudden, now it happens? When the show is hanging by a thread very loosely and has a lower approval rating then Bush? (well, maybe not that low)

I can see them bringing Grant back to tie things up. I think 2009 is it for GL. It saddens me to say it because I want all soaps to survive but I really do think it's done. I will continue to watch until the end and look forward to Grant's return. It should provide a good spark.

^ Tim, that very same thought occurred to me when I first read this, too. It wouldn't shock me at all.

^It really doesn't make sense to me, otherwise.

I mean, I don't even think they can afford this. I think we all knew the writing was on the wall anyway but this, to me, makes it almost a certainty.

^^ Me too, as soon as I read this news I actually thought it meant bad things for GL. I too think the show is being canceled and Grant is coming back just to wrap it all up.

If that were the case, I think they would have announced the cancellation beforehand.

1. I don't think Aleksander costs as much as you guys think he does. Haha. I mean, what has he done since he left? Why would he be in such high demand? He is in no position to make financial demands. He's a soap actor. Moreover, he's an OLD (for show bizz) soap actor. He's tainted, and he needs to take what he can get.

2. Kriezman was the one who wrote the Phillip murder story, right? And his regime is mainly gone? I think Aleksander is just more willing to give the show a chance with him gone.

Kreizman's still there though, and despite what Wheeler might have us believe with this whole stupid 'two teams' arrangement, I believe he's still driving most of the story.
