The administration and staff of Daytime Royalty have been working the last few weeks on compiling the nominees in our 2nd Annual Daytime Royalty Soap Opera Awards. The process we used was to have each staff member submit a set of pre-nominations for their assigned show. The actors from each show with the most votes in each category were selected as pre-nominees for that show. Each category was then presented to the whole staff and the actors were ranked on a 1-10 scale with the top six actors being placed on the final nomination ballot. The eligibility period for nominations was from November 1, 2007 to October 31, 2008. Voting will begin on Wednesday November 19, 2008 at 6:00pm EST and will be open to everyone. Please keep in mind you are voting for the best performances of the year and not your favorite stars. And now, without further ado, here are the nominees for our 2nd annual awards Outstanding Drama Series As The World Turns General Hospital Days of our Lives One Life to Live Young & The Restless Outstanding Writing As The World Turns Bold & The Beautiful General Hospital One Life to Live Young & The Restless Outstanding Directing All My Children Days of Our Lives Bold & The Beautiful General Hospital Young & The Restless Outstanding Lead Actor Darnell Williams as Jesse Hubbard (All My Children) Jon Hensley as Holden Snyder (As The World Turns) Anthony Geary as Luke Spencer (General Hospital) Trevor St. John as Todd Manning (One Life to Live) Eric Braedan as Victor Newman (Young and the Restless) Peter Bergman as Jack Abbott (Young and the Restless) Outstanding Lead Actress Debbi Morgan as Angie Hubbard (All My Children) Maura West as Carly Tenney (As The World Turns) Susan Flannery as Stephanie Forrester (Bold and the Beautiful) Robin Strasser as Dorian Lord (One Life to Live) Lindsay Hartley as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald (Passions) Melody Thomas Scott as Nikki Newman (Young and the Restless) Outstanding Supporting Actress Colleen Zenk Pinter as Barbara Ryan (As The World Turns) Heather Tom as Katie Logan (Bold and the Beautiful) Martha Madison as Belle Black Brady (Days of Our Lives) Lauren Koslow as Kate Roberts (Days of Our Lives) Jane Elliot as Tracy Quartermaine (General Hospital) Jess Walton as Jill Foster Abbott (Young and the Restless) Outstanding Supporting Actor Michael E. I agree pretty much. I wish we would have a category for Best Storyline and Best Casting, though. EDIT: I completely disagree with ATWT for Drama Series, actually. I had to stop watching ATWT for the first time since I started in 1998 because the show has gotten so bad. I think AMC should be in there instead. Edited by Mason, Nov 17 2008, 04:00 PM.

We could always work something out more to your liking! Now as for these nominees, there are alot of WTF's in the bunch. Joseph Mascolo? Seriously? He has done NOTHING since returning, so his nomination is a joke. I also don't understand, Thaoo Penghlis. Scene stealer? Name one scene he stole? Also, I know it was you Rick but Ava Peralta as viallainess? That's laughable in my opinion. Hell Pretty Crane is a terrible choice too. Where was Melissa Claire Egan there? And just because I hate her ... Jennifer Landon! UGH ... VOMIT!!! Also younger actress should have Brittany Underwood there. Now as for the rest good job! Don't think I don't appreicate you guys doing this. I do. So thank you for it. You all know how happy I am for Robin and MTS. |

Dinah should have gotten a nom for Villainess over Ava, IMO. Also, along with Hunley, I'm amazed that OLTL's Pamela Payton-Wright (Addie) and PASSIONS's Erin Cardillo (ex-Esme) didn't make it into the Female Scene Stealer category! |
