This was not a mutual decision. They just knew for a while. Until NBC revealed Days was renewed.

^ Too funny, lady! I was going to make a comment about that remembering the fuss about how PR thought she looked "off" but thought I should let it go lest I stir a nest.
Love your balls!!! :)

Interesting the Dee and Drake are gone, KA and PR take massive paycuts and others expect to be fired, yet AS is smiling and eating her pickles just loving her story and hefty check. No wonder she had to be isolated in her own story...it isn't about her pregnancy! Nobody can stand to look at her!!! ;)
Just speculation on my part!
That's how I'd feel at my office...
One more time to want to be the proverbial fly on the wall....it would be interesting to see if Allison will HAVE to work to shows because she had to take a paycut, or if she goes merrily along. Her scenes with GG are just sad. Just sad. What a waste of airtime.
Oh, well, I'm sure more shit will be hitting the fan :shithitfan:
It's almost expected every week that Nelson or someone will drop another Days bomb.

Thanks for clarifying Hunter. I never believed for a moment it was 'mutual'. And it's neither here not there to me when they knew.

I now hear that Hogestyn and Hall knew about their firings for over two weeks.
Meaning they knew during the Day of Days event? Wow...that may explain alot.
Phoenix, you mean.....she might have possibly have had a reason to feel a little off and not quite herself? Perish the thought. ;) I'm just thinking back to all the hullabaloo about your comment from the event, and now, it seems like she might have had a reason to not feel 100%. Bless her heart. She's human.

You know, it really wouldn't add up though. Ellie is right. Drake was talking about future story and talking with the writers. Maybe Dee had a heads up (which may explain her on that day) but Drake sure as hell didn't. If Dee did know, that is pretty cold. Having then face their fans and not say anything...ugh.

However, if they knew for two weeks, that would mean there was plenty of time to talk with them and Corday. To me, that would suggest they did have a discussion because he had to tell them about the firing so the idea of paycuts had to come up. Not only that but, as loyal and classy as they both are, if Drake were as angry and didn't understand he would say something to the press before the two weeks. I really think that. Maybe Dee would too. They would want to get fan support going. I think they are both smart enough to understand what is going on and they both had story this year. It's not like last year with Drake. I think they are both upset but probably understand and would be ok with coming back later. That's just what I would think given the way they seem (again, my own personal perception based on things heard, seen, etc so I know nothing for sure).
Let me tell you something about bosses..................a long time ago, when you were probably a baby (yeah, I'm sounding condescending, LOL), I had a horrible teaching job at a rough high school, and I lived 45 miles from that school. Tough all around. The principal called me in one day and asked if I was considering moving closer, and I told him, yes, as a matter of fact, my husband and I were talking about it. The principal said, that's good, because that should help make your year next year a lot easier, and we discussed the next year more.
Two weeks later, it was suggested I resign. In teaching, "suggesting" one resigns is a way for a teacher to save face and grovel a halfway decent referral for the next teaching job. The alternative is to not have the contract renewed publicly.(That oughta make those who are pissed at me get a good laugh. Course, it was 25 years ago....). Anyway, lesson to be learned, probably from Drake, too. The writers are talking future writing for him..........they probably had no clue that someone else wanted Drake out, or they knew, and played him anyway, like the principal did.

Sorry, but I'm just not sure we really know the whole truth. I still subscribe to the theory that sometimes, the studio lets out false tidbits just to see where leaks are. I'm willing to bet any negotiations or talks were very private. We might never know if it was mutual or not unless the actors decide to talk.

And then had to go do fanfest? Cold man, just cold.

Thanks for letting us know... :) I hope Deidre talks soon, and I hope she's doing well...

I'm trying to figure out why how long they knew is so signficant myself hops. All I know is that they were fired and that's not going to change.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

Good point. I doubt it will change anything. Maybe this was their opportunity to quietly go about looking for other jobs. I guess, though, there is no such thing as "quietly", is there?

If they announced they were fired before Days renewed it would have killed the soap's chances for survival. I say bravo to them, despite having to be pushed aside like an ugly stepchild. D&D put the show first. Good for them even if Days didn't do the same for them!

That's really classy of them that they knew during Fauxfest and still went. I wouldn't have been as gracious.

So they knew that long?

That definitely explains the feeling I got about Dee at fanfest. I can't blame her. That had to be very awkward for her and Drake. I do feel bad for them. It's so hard to talk story and talk to fans knowing that you will be gone soon. I mean, Drake was talking so much about upcoming story you would've never guesses but they did handle themselves classy. Major props to them.

On another note, the fact that they knew this long...I just find it hard to believe they knew this long and no pay cut was discussed, especially in regards to Dee. I mean, wasn't her contract up in August? Did we ever get official public word on the contract? I mean, knowing that long, there was plenty of time for discussion and there had to be lengthy discussion over the whole situation and in that discussion paycuts had to come up. Whether or not Drake and/or Dee brought them up or Corday is another question but I'm sure they had to come up with them knowing so long. There had to be alot of talk about what was going to happen and progress, etc.

You can say that again.

They would have enough to make it into an actual TV series.

Yes I believe Deidre's contract was up in August, but the discussion was probably delayed for a good long while because the backstage turmoil was at its height right when her contract ended. Scott exited, Higley returned, Tomlin was brought in, he brought in Chris, probably a serious upheavel to story began(and in a way casting). However, you make a fair point.
