At the risk of pissing off other readers? And, I don't think Dr. Chip ever insinuated older people aren't hip. To a lot of people, Alice Horton is the last bastion of the old fashioned good old days. Not everything has to have a sexual innuendo. Oh, well. AT least the Joan Van Ark rumor is put to rest. |

Hey, Days writes it in each year! Not me. Your minds are in the gutter, people — not mine! LOL! |

Sensitive and damn proud! Maybe not sensitive as much as conscious of how people might interpret that and how people with a sense of humor don't necessarily find stuff like that funny. And I consider myself as someone with a pretty good sense of humor. Now the song about Sir Robin getting his penis cut off. .....THAT'S funny and appropriate, because it's from a British off-color comedy, not part of a journalist's column. OK, I"m going to shut up now. |

I wouldn't put it past Melanie. She's pretty much taken over Titan. |

Writes in what? It doesn't write it in anything sexual like that LOL. I guess some of us just like to think some things can be left alone. Alice and Tom were such a wonderful, loving, endearing couple and to talk about them in that way just sort of brings them down to a level I would prefer not to think of them in terms of. I just think it was inappropriate under the circumstances. I won't crucify you for it LOL. I know what you were trying to do. I just wanted to say I didn't like it and I knew others may feel the same so I brought it up. |

I do LOL. No need to apologize, Nelson. As I said, I understand why you said it. It's not like I'm outraged. I just thought it was a bit too much, at least for me. I know others may not feel the same or may enjoy it. There is no need to remove it or anything. It's all good  . |

You could make it a two for one deal, since she has Corday's balls in her back pocket. |

I would like not to think of Higley or Corday's balls or any squishing going on  . Wait, why are we even talking like Higley has...oh, Christ, nevermind. Thanks you all for giving me nightmares and right before Christmas too. . |

I can live with the Frances Reid/Alice comment because I know Frances has a baudy sense of humor. However, I could've done without the "You do know these people don't exist, right?" remark. Come on Nelly, we're not THAT bad at it. :tounge: |

I didn't make a big deal out of it. I just said it was disgusting. It WAS disgusting, Nelson! Just because Frances Reid talks that way doesn't mean you have to. :D (I'm being tongue-in-cheek here, people.) Edited by Dr. Chip, Dec 19 2008, 08:33 PM.

LMOA! I loved the Frances Reid comment, Nelson. I got the joke, and I didn't find anything offensive by it. |

I wrote about this earlier, but I think I want to reiterate: I still think a lot of readers would find it offensive. And yes, I realize "these people" don't exist. However, readers do. I'll wager many of them don't know what Frances Reid was supposedly like (right now, sorry to say, I think she has more to worry about than reading this column or any column, but what would I know?) and would find it highly offensive to think of Alice Horton in this light. That doesn't make them prudes. There is a time and place for everything, and comments like that belong with Monty Python and Benny Hill and Comedy Central. NOT in a journalistic soap opera column that people turn to for information. And, if they knew that France Reid herself was in such frail condition, they might find it doubly offensive to her and to McDonald Carey (or Tom's) memory. Thee are just some institutions that one probably shouldn't take chances on. And hey, if they don't find it offensive, I do. And I like good earthy comedy as well as anyone. At the right times and the right contexts. So, poor Brave Sir Robin, cut his penis right off! Dr. Chip, you have as much right to type your displeasure, I would think, as those who didn't find it offensive have to disagree. I just hope name-calling such as "prude" doesn't ensue from it. Nuff said. I was already going to shut up once, LOL. On to the column......... please, no Zach visions! And, what's with the Mark Lawson bashing? Plenty of folks, straight women and gay men, on TWoP loved the Shower of Angst, as they call it. Mark Lawson appears small but mighty. To each his own, I guess. I'm loving Tea, even if I don't care for her getting Todd off (of his charges, that is. See, I can play dirty with the best of them!) And ALERT!!! I agree with you about Natalie and Jared. Too adorable. |
