I think I read somewhere that there was a switch and Michael Sarver was removed from this group? I think he was replaced by some Matt guy (I think it's the same guy that Michael was in a singing duel with in the last episode).

God... only three people from this group?? I can't choose.. Danny has to go through.. and I want both Michael Sarver and Anoop to go through... But I also like Ann Marie and Jackie... and Alexis.. God..

I think Danny Gokey and Anoop Desai are locks to make it through.

From the girls group, I'm crossing my fingers for Ann Marie Boskovich -- but don't forget that VoteForTheWorst will be dialing like crazy for Tatiana, LoL.

Three people out of each group is so crazy! They only get ONE shot at making it based on tonight's performances, so they better be completely amazing if they want to get through.

Wow...I have alot to catch up on LOL. Get ready for my extremely long posts LOL.

I never like to comment much, if at all, on the auditions and Hollywood week because it's so hard to even remember the people I watched. There are just so many and so many are only remembered by me for their looks or their gimmick.

Whatever the case, the show has been hit or miss for me. Why? Well, the auditions sucked this year. This is why when people complained last year about feeling like they didn't know the contestants I was so against doing anything to rectify that because look at what has happened this year. The show is one sob story after another and it's a joke. Now I feel myself wishing I didn't know. i would rather not know at least until top 12 because, to me, it's just not needed and it just makes you judge more on sympathy then on talent. I think the judges bought into that too. Look at how many people got through to Hollywood just because they had cute kids in the room with them. I hope next year they just give us a little background and then leave it alone until top 12 at least. Let us get to know them through their music first. I mean, Danny Gokey's story and the blind guy (can't remember his name) are different but all the sob stories about being poor and needing this to give their family a better life...give me a break. In these times, I can't feel for them when we all have issues with the economy and all.

I was happy they cut the auditions down to 3 weeks rather then 4 but the last episode being split into two cities was ridiculous. Maybe I'm biased because I live in NY but it should've had it's own hour. I was stunned Fox didn't do a two hour show that night. Dumb.

The editing this year has sucked too, which is a good way to transition to the Hollywood round. I liked two weeks of Hollywood week but boy did they fuck up the editing. Now I did like all the drama with Tatiana, Nate, etc. That had to be one of the most interesting Hollywood episodes ever. In fact, that is what makes the Hollywood round. All the drama of the groups coming together. However, I still feel it's unfair to put these people in a group because it's so easy to screw a person who deserves to go on. I mean, sometimes you can't help who you end up with so I just think it's unfair but whatever. They've always done it. The editing needs to improve because they spent way too much time on recaps and showing us the judges deliberating (which is dumb because they never name names nor do we see who they are talking about LOL). I had to laugh though when Simon took off and left Paula, Randy, and Kara to go room to room to eliminate people LOL. By the way, I always hate the episode where they do the room to room elimination. I mean, they only eliminated one room. You did all that for ONE ROOM?! Waste of time!

I did enjoy the Hollywood round though but what the hell was up with the last show? The mansion and the long walk through a garden, up a staircase, and into the judge's lair. Seriously, I thought I was watching "The Bachelor" with that mansion and the long walk? I half expected one of the judges to be handing out roses LOL. It was cool to have the final judgment in a new location and the sing offs were a good idea. Those judge's chairs looked mighty comfy too LOL. That Cody kid was dumb though. They all knew there was a chance of a sing off and you could tell he wasn't prepared so I would've eliminated him anyway based on that. Sad Jamar didn't make it but I doubt he would've went far anyway. He didn't seem good enough to make it far. Loved his friendship with Danny though. I also knew they would end up taking the two last guys at the end who were in the sing off. Both were good.

Simon was awful mean to Frankie. "You wouldn't have won anyway!" True but still he deserved her getting all huffy with him. I know Simon is like that but just cut her and be done with it. I did like when he asked someone why they sang the song they did and the guy said he loved it and Simon said he didn't LOL.

By the way, did anyone catch the end of last Wednesday when they showed the top 36 doing all their dance moves? Tatiana was HILARIOUS! They had a fan even blowing her hair. Total diva! I hate the girl but man does she make things interesting. I can see her being eliminated this week but she's made it fun LOL. As has that Nate guy. He's from NY so I have been following him, despite his being overdramatic and annoying. He actually does have a good voice. I can't figure out what to make of Normal Gentle or whatever the hell his name is. He's funny and I actually think his voice is ok but he confuses me because I don't know how exactly to feel about him. I mean, is he serious about this or not? He's someone to watch for sure because there has never been anyone like him.

I almost feel like Bikini girl was planted. I mean, her kissing Ryan and all the shit with Kara, Paula, and all...I just can't see it being real. It had a scripted element to it and part of me thinks they used her to drive the point home that Kara was an edgy, "speak her mind" type judge. It really felt artificial and I can't see Simon and Randy putting her through the way she was. No way. I think she was just there for drama. That whole thing with her quitting and then returning came off like such a put on.

I like the idea of focusing a bit on the reality of it all and the contestants away from the stage but how will they fit all this in? I mean, Kara being there now will take up enough time. How will they fit this in? I have major concerns about time constraints this year.

I LOVE Kara because she's like a combination of all the judges and she's also forced them to raise their game. I mean, Paula isn't coming off as bad and Randy seems to be back to some semblance of what he used to be so Kara coming on seems like a good idea.

Now, about the surprise in the top 12, I actually wouldn't mind if it's the judges playing a role in some sort of elimination because at least then it means less of a chance of someone like a Sanjaya or Jason Castro getting far. They can nip it in the bud fast. I'm really interested in finding out what it is. Glad they are shaking the show up a bit and can't wait to see Kelly Clarkson and other big names this year. I really wish they would use an idea that I suggested, which was to use former AI contestants and winners as mentors. They've been through it so who better? That would be cool.

I just knew something was up with that Joanna girl. This girl had a record deal so her forgetting words and being all nervous and shit made no sense to me. I can see the nerves but forgetting lyrics? She was probably so worried about being found out that she saved under the pressure. Glad she is gone. That Emily girl was a case too so glad she is gone. I'm stunned because alot of the people they pimped early in the auditions got cut, which begs the question...why waste our time? I mean, really. There was some talented people we didn't see so you could pimp up people who got eliminated anyway? That is why I say don't pimp anyone. Don't show anything but a brief bio or background piece lasting no more then one minute and move on. Don't waste time when there is a chance that person can go home before they even matter in the broad scheme of things.

Oh, and thank God Castro's brother got cut. We don't need any more of that, even if his brother was slightly better (not saying much). I was also happy the Osmond got cut. I liked him and all and felt bad about his health condition and his father's but why does he need Idol? He's an Osmond! He should have no problem. I hated the idea of him taking a spot from someone with no connections to the business so I'm glad he got cut, even if it wasn't right.

It's also great that the contestants seem just as close so far as last year's, at least so far. I like to see that. It makes things more emotional. I always hated how in season 3 and 5 you could sense tension and the fact that many didn't seem very close.

Despite the fact that I wish they would just get rid of the instruments, so far they have not been overused and I'm glad. It's about the singing and performing and I feel like those that use instruments get too distracted because it gives them something else to worry about. I feel that is why Brooke White fucked up last year and why that Stephen guy screwed up during his solo in Hollywood. I mean, he was singing David Cook's "Time of my Life" and admitted it's easy to memorize (which I agree, it is) and admitted the toughest part was putting everything together for his performance. He ended up forgetting the words and I think it was because he was too worried about everything else but singing, which should come first. We'll see how it all goes this year but, so far, I'm not as annoyed with it as I was last year but, then again, no one seems to be getting by on just there instrument.

That brings up another question...since David Cook was used actively in Idol promos and since the song was used a few times so far, anyone else think "Time of my Life" is this year's elimination theme? I'm beginning to think they've had that idea since Cook sang that song for the first time. We'll see.

I like that they brought back the wild card but I think they had to with this format because they will be cutting 9 a week. I like this format though because it works against the wrong people getting through (Sanjaya, etc) and, if someone wrongly gets eliminated, the judges can bring them back. Plus, this pushes them all to be great. They have to own it up there tonight or they are done. Simple as that and that is what the show is about and I'm glad they did this because that will hopefully force some to think more about what they do. In the past, the top 24 or 36 has been lackluster because you get the sense some half ass it because they know they will get through with so many worse people there. Now, they can't do that. Love this format and can't wait to see how the wild card turns out.

I can't wait until tonight to see how the 4 judges work out and to see if there is any difference in song choice. It seems so far we have more recent songs being sung. I noticed during Hollywood week the songs being used were more recent then in the past, at least most of them. They claimed they felt things got too old-fashioned last year so they wanted to be more contemporary this year. So far, I can see that and I'm interested to see what sort of songs we will mostly be seeing from now on so that is another thing to look out for.

Tonight will be tough. It's a good group but, based on what I've seen so far, I think Danny will go through pretty easily. Anoop should do well. I just wonder if he is interesting enough. He is certainly relevant. I think it's between Ann Marie and Alexis for the girl's spot and I can see Micheal and Brent being brought back for wild card round, if they don't go through tonight, because they are marketable as hell and have good voices. The rest, I think, will have to show alot to get through.

It should be an interesting night. So far, the guys are better then the girls. I can honestly say that for the first time since 2002, I can't pick a winner or even a finals matchup. Somehow I've managed to pick the winner in every season but season 5 (and even then I picked McPhee so I was close LOL). I didn't necessarily pick who I liked but you could get a vibe or even get a sense of who the show was behind and who just seemed to fit the mold. This year, it's hard, mostly because the show has been edited poorly and also because there is alot of talent. Once top 12 starts, it should be easier. I think Danny Gokay is the favorite. He can sing anything and I feel he's the one contestant that has been shown consistently both vocally and personally. People know him already and his backstory so he's set. Von Smith has ALOT of potential and seems like the misunderstood dark horse like Cook was last year so he is one to keep an eye on. I can't see one single girl right now that could make a big for the title but we'll see.

On to tonight! Should be fun. Now you all can look forward to my weekly posts again now that the season really has started. Yay!! .

So I have figured it out. Tatiana is this year's Syesha. She is a good singer. But she is nothing but an actress. Every thing is going to be about her and her struggles. She is a fake.

One thing that has me concerned with Danny is that he is getting pimped like Archuletta last year. Don't get me wrong, I think he is 100 times better and actually understands the emotions behind the songs he sings. All we are going to hear about is how fantastic he is and they will never be able to say he had a bad night. I have to agree with what Simon said about the "hype". Don't crown him the champion during the first week. Although I do think he earned his ticket to the top 12.

Predictions to moving on:
Danny, Michael and Tatiana (Lord do I hate saying that one but she was the only decent girl)

LMAO, this season is so nuts. Crazy ass Tatiana was actually really good tonight!

Danny Gokey was AWESOME. Ricky Braddy was AWESOME. Anoop Desai was AWESOME. It's too bad that only one or two of them will be making it through, because they're all just amazing.

Stevie sucked. Jackie Tohn sucked. I wasn't crazy about Michael Sarver. Ann Marie was good, but not great. Oh, and what's with them saying that Alexis Grace is comparable to Kelly Clarkson? I thought she completely sucked tonight.

Danny, Anoop and Ricky are the best talents so far this season, IMO. Love them all! In the end, I predict that Danny, Anoop and Tatiana will make it through. Hopefully Ricky Braddy will be chosen as a Wild Card.

Oh, and what's with them saying that Alexis Grace is comparable to Kelly Clarkson? I thought she completely sucked tonight.
Yeah, I didn't get that comment at all. Another fake for me. Her first audition she is the naive girl next door and now we have the short dress, heavy make up and pink in the hair. There are many people on this show that change from the beginning to the end, but there is still substance of the original person still there. This girl did a total 180 which makes me wonder, which is the real Alexis?

I was actually more impressed with Anoop during his last song during Hollywood week. I think both him and Ricky if they don't get through this week have a very good chance to make it for the Wild Card week. So far guys are overall much better.

Well, to be fair, the judges made her change her look and it's happened gradually. She only had the pink hair and had dressed slightly better. Tonight was the first time she was really dressed up with all the makeup. I don't think she's changed at all as a person. I mean, even in her intro piece, she's still talking about her daughter alot and that has held through this whole season. She seemed like the same girl when she sat down with her parents after her performance too. Yes, the look may not be her but that was all the judges. To me, she didn't really seem to comfortable with it. She said she liked it but I doubt it. I think she just did it to please them. I think she is far from being a fake though. I blame the judges because they tell the contestants to be themselves yet they suggest they change their look or act a certain way or whatever. They actually screw some people up!

Also, it's hard to tell who is fake or not because I think we can't tell until the person leaves the show or wins. There are a few exceptions, like David Cook who you could tell was very genuine. The show edits things and manipulates things in a way to make you like who they like and to turn you off to who they don't like or think will benefit them. I mean, even in the intro pieces they basically choose the questions they ask the person so they dictate how it all ends up looking. That is why it's so hard to tell and then when you throw in the judges pushing for contestants to be and act a certain way, it just makes it hard to tell if your seeing the real person or the person Idol wants you to see and I don't blame the contestants at all for that.

I will give my full rundown later after I get some sugar in me since the show itself was so awful I will need all the energy I can get to get through my rant LOL.
