Simon said during top 11 week that Carrie Underwood would win and sell more records then any other Idol winner. What really gets me is Paula bitched at him for making a statement that early yet she did that this year several times LOL. Anyway, most liked Carrie just like most liked Cook so when the pimping came to them, people tolerated it or didn't mind it. If you like the contestant, it's fine. If you don't, you hate the pimping.
I don't think the pimping has ever been as bad in past seasons as it has been this season for Adam Lambert. I mean, they've really set a new precedent for him. This entire season should've been re-named "Lambert Idol," LoL.
No doubt but it's still not his fault. Many (not here) seem to act like it is and I hate that. I hate that the show and judges have painted him in a bad light for some.

It was bad last season but it's gotten 10x worse this season and it will likely get worse next season. Maybe if Kris wins there is a chance for change but I doubt it. As I said, they've felt since Daughtry went home in season 5 and Melinda went home in season 6 that they have to intervene to get the finals they want so I think it's going to take alot more then Kris winning to change things but it gives one hope that it may.

EXACTLY!!

That is why it's hurt the show. They've always had their faves but it was never like this. They always sort of left the door open for others to make it in and would give credit where credit was due.
Mhmm.

I mean, I understand why they like to name the frontrunners early in the season. It's kind of like a soap opera. They like to lay the foundation for the climax ahead of time. Foreshadowing. That's why the judges all have this stupid "Who can guess the winner earlier than anyone else?" competition. It gets viewers to know who they should be watching, whose journey they should be following more closely. It's about the journey and story of it all. However, this really makes the early stages of the competition super pointless, and by the time the finale rolls around, many people have already soured on the people who were set up for the win from the start. In the end, the show really risks being sabotaged by a super disappointing upset when people revolt against the pimping.

For some reason I just thought about David Hasselhoff crying when Taylor won, lol.

I remember Simon saying that about Carrie, but yeah it wasn't as bad as the stuff they say now. The two David's were definitely favored last season.

I really think part it is because Adam is so different from anyone they have ever had. I don't think I ever been so curious as to what someone was going to do each week like I have been this season with Adam. David Cook would be a close second though.

I can't help it. Like before, I compare it to soap writers when they try to shove a new character or couple down our throats. They might be the best character/couple in the history of soaps, but if they're being shoved down everyone's throats and the writers are crying "you must LOVE this pairing!", my instinct reaction is to hate them and the actors in the roles and call for their firings, LoL.

Adam might be humble as can be, but I really don't like his singing. That's my main reason for disliking him. The pimping just adds fuel to the fire. Although Adam would probably never admit it, I'm sure he's LOVING all the pimping. Everytime they announce him as safe each week, I feel the same way I did last season when Archuleta would be all "aww GOSH" when he learned he wasn't going home. Like, come the fuck on. You know you're safe. Spare us the looks of relief. You know your ass was never going home. It feels so phony baloney.

Me neither, in terms of train wreck factor, LoL. It's like a deadly collision you just can't look away from.

Your right but the difference is they used to do a better job of it.

What they used to do is be fair in their judging and they wouldn't throw anyone under the bus. People like Vonzell Solomon and Elliot Yamin would get thrown under the bus if they were on more recently, just like Syesha and Micheal and Carly were last year. Back in the first 4 and a half seasons, the show just didn't build up their favorites. They built up potential darkhorses too. That way the competition had depth and you also had shocking eliminations along the way because you didn't feel like it was really just a two horse race. Therefore, it made things more interesting as the season went on. Now, they settle on two people as soon as the top 12 begins. Other competitors get reserved praise and all the "place fillers" who are mildly talented get kicked to the curb. Then, we see the darkhorse challengers kicked off one by one, depending on who the show is ready to get rid of at that point, which leaves you with the two they want, much like last year. This year, their plans got ruined but that is their pattern now. Season 1-5 were nothing like that. As much as I hate some of the unfair shocking eliminations, they made the show interesting and seemed to keep things wide open and unpredictable. Now, when we do get them, it's in the top 3 and you still have one of the chosen ones left so it doesn't feel quite the same. The journey is not as fun.

I think that is why they like to have Adam go last or at least in the second half of the show. Love him or hate him people are curious to see what he is going to do.

Oh, I don't mind you or anyone else not liking him. I just think it's unfair to blame him or to hold it against him and I disagree that he likes the pimping. I think he likes the attention of being on Idol (who wouldn't?) but the pimping is making many hate him. He knows that. Plus, it has to make him feel awkward when others are compared to him all night like last week or he is told he's already won and shit like that. That makes the others feel awkward and I doubt he wants that or wants to deal with that, which is why I think he said what he said to Ryan last night about being honored to be on that stage with Danny and Kris and complimenting how good both were.

I don't think Adam thinks he's safe either. He is probably aware that many dislike him. Look at how he always dealt with Simon and others when they didn't like his performances. He simply said it was their opinion and they were entitled but I think he is aware of what people say. In that EW interview, he seems to know all about the rumors and how people have reacted towards him. He was also in the bottom 2 a few weeks ago. Archie had none of that. He just had an annoying father and the pimping. I don't think Adam thinks he is safe at all, especially not recently. He has plenty of reason to feel he may not be. As annoyed as I was with Archuleta last year, I do think that he was genuine about that. Melinda was the same way. You never know how the public will vote, even if you have no scandal surrounding you.

Definitely and that is why he's getting all the attention.

Cook was less polarizing though. That is why he was more universally well-liked.

Last season, in general, had much more likable people as a whole. They all seemed so close as opposed to this group, which feels like they all get along in clusters but not as a whole. Alison seems to be the only one who gets along with everyone no problem. That hurts this season for me just like it hurt seasons 3 and 5. I like it when the top 12 all seems close and there doesn't seem to be tension around.

Kind of dull? God, he IS dull. LOL. He is so friggin' boring.

Almost Every year, we get stuck with a dud (at least for me) in the finals. It's mind blowing!

I thought Jordin looked really good! She usually wears dresses that a 3 year old would wear and looks like a big toddler. Much better dress tonight.

Jordin looked amazing!

I liked both Ruben and Clay and I LOVED Diana. Glad she's made a career for herself on Broadway.

I liked Katherine but she was strange. She had so much talent but never brought it together and I've grown to dislike her a bit after the show.

Boy, King, you seem to differ with me (and many others) on alot when it comes to this show LOL. I do agree that it always seems we end up with someone unexpected in the finale when you lay it out like that so Kris making it should not be a shock, except it is when you consider how the judges and show did everything they could to knock him out and when you consider he got no attention at all early on. Season 2 (Ruben vs Clay), season 4 (Carrie vs Bo) and season 7 (David vs David) are the only three seasons in which both favorites to get to the finals made it. The other seasons always had an upset and an unlikely person of some sort getting in because of it (season 1...Justin Guarini, season 3....Diana Degarmo, season 5...Taylor Hick-I don't count Katherine because many felt she would make the finale with Chris, and season 6...Blake Lewis).

Even more reason for him to win. I want this season to be a failure, LoL.

Really though, I don't think he's all that boring.

Poor Kris. That sounds like the same shit the judges toss at him week after week  .

Katherine was so weird. She always went theatrical with her performances and always went for some over the top, glory note thing and it made her come off awful because she would ruin songs doing that. She would take so many unnecessary risks with the melody. I liked her in season 5 because she had the talent when she just focused on the singing and not trying to give us some splashy performance. She didn't understand that sometimes less is more. Everything with her was some sort of Celine Dion style performance in terms of production, not so much voice.

After she was done with Idol, I just stopped liking her. She started coming off like an icy bitch LOL.

Wow. Pretty much everything you said about Katharine McPhee can also be said about Adam Lambert, LoL.

So apparently people heard Danny Gokey call Adam Lambert a faggot tonight when he was eliminated. It's 3 seconds into this video. I can hear something that sounds similar, but I doubt he actually said it.
