According to Ryan Seacrest (on Larry King tonight), the first round is the contestants favorite performance of the season (so I guess they won't be doing a new song), the second round is Simon Fuller's choice, and the third is the coronation song and they WILL be singing the same song.
Ugh, so the contestant's choice won't be a new song? That blows! LoL

MJsBigBlog is reporting that Queen Latifah has also been confirmed as a performer for the finale.

Same goes for David Cook.

There's also a rumor (with legs) with KISS will be performing.

According to Scott MacIntyre's twitter, he'll be performing a duet at the finale. Both he and Alexis Grace have teased (via twitter) that Michael Jackson might be a surprise guest. Scott tweeted that he was rehearsing his duet across from MJ's band, and Alexis tweeted some of the lyrics to "Black or White."

No new song, that sucks and is a big disadvantage for Kris. :( I hope that whatever Fuller gives him doesn't do him in as I want a fight and not a knock out.

Bummed about missing Larry King last night.

So what do you think will they sing again?

I don't think Kris should do Heartless again... Even though that seems to be popular, it was last week and he shouldn't repeat something that happened last week. I loved Falling slowly...

You know, I could see Micheal Jackson making a surprise appearance to duet "Black or White" with Adam

"Heartless" was great, but like you said, he sang it last week. Singing the same song back to back isn't a good idea. I also loved "She Works Hard For The Money," but that's not really a finale-esque song. The best bet for Kris is to sing "Falling Slowly." The mood of the song is very capturing. It also allows him to showcase his stronger vocals and there's room for artistic interpretation. He could switch it up a bit. Another good reason to choose the song is because they used it in his homecoming montage last week, and I think viewers will subconsciously connect the song to the emotion of the montage and it will really resonate. He could have a moment.

As for Adam, he'll make his choice based on whatever song Simon Fuller chooses for him. We know that the coronation song will be something kind of cheesy and soaring. Ballad-like. If Fuller makes him sing a slower song, Adam will choose something faster and more upbeat as his personal choice to offset the two other songs. That's probably what will happen. Adam loves the high-energy performances. My guess is that he'll sing "Satisfaction." It's fast in parts, kind of slow in other parts. Definitely high-energy. It's also the first song we ever heard him sing -- way back at Top 36, so that will subconsciously remind viewers of the first time he made them take notice. It'll remind them of his journey and inspire them to vote even harder. Meanwhile, if he decides to go for something slower, it'll definitely be "Mad World." That was his best performance of the season. It resonated emotionally with viewers and allowed for a moment. Singing it would help remind his nay-sayers that he's capable of more than just the vocal theatrics and his fans would be thrilled to hear him sing it again.

They sure use Carrie Underwood A LOT. I like her, but it is a bit much.
Well, she is their biggest star. Kelly just now is making a comeback and she is not one to return much so no surprise they would use Carrie, who never seems to refuse a return to Idol.

I'm excited about the finale. I've heard all sorts of rumors and stuff but the Micheal Jackson one is not one I heard. That could be interesting and it sounds like it could happen based on those comments from Scott and Alexis. I'm excited about all the duets too, especially Alison's. Seeing David Cook should be cool too. I can see Micheal Jackson performing either on his own right before the results (when they normally trot out their big surprise guest) or with Adam. Why not? The pimping is already out of control. If not Micheal Jackson, Adam will likely perform with KISS if those rumors are true.

Not surprised Vote For The Worst is supporting Kris since they will always go the opposite of the judges and the show. That helps Kris even more. He now has VFTW, anti-Adam fans, Danny fans, his own fans, underdog fans, and fans that just want to piss off the judges and show (which is just like VFTW LOL). I really do think Kris is going to pull this off, whether he performs well or not. If he performs well, he just may lock it up. I can see Simon doing what he did last year to David Cook. I can see him thrashing Adam in hopes to get his fans out in droves to vote and then overpraising Kris so fans don't rally for him as much, just like he did last year with Archuleta. I can see him doing that again.

As for the contestant's choice being a repeat performance, it ALWAYS is. We always see the contestant pick their favorite performance from the season and perform it on the top 2 performance night. It kind of brings things full circle. David Cook was the only person to not do that and do a new song. I like that he did that but I also like it when we see a repeat performance because of the full circle feel, just as long as it's not something from last week. I agree that Kris should not pick "Heartless." It's too soon. He should pick "Falling Slowly" or maybe even "Ain't No Sunshine." Those would be appropriate considering the situation. As Kenny said, he could even change things up from the first time he performed those songs or do some part of them different if he wants and he could have a moment there. Adam should probably go with "Mad World.' I don't think he should worry about whether that means he sings 3 ballads or not. He doesn't need an uptempo song. In fact, it may behoove him not to sing uptempo because that is when he does what people seem to hate with the "screeching." If he sings slower songs like "Mad World," he shows his range and is more controlled and subdued. That could help him alot with those that don't usually like him. Whatever the Idol coronation song is, Adam and Kris will likely be able to change it up to suit themselves anyway so Adam will likely add some of his classic Adam vocals and flair to the song so even if it ends up being 3 ballads he could always make that coronation song into something a little different then a typical ballad. Same goes for Kris.

I'm curious to see what Simon Fuller does. I'm hopeful he will be an improvement over Clive David, who always picked the same songs all the time and sucked at picking songs. Season 4 was the only year he did well selecting songs IMO. The only concern I have with Fuller is that he could sabotage Kris but so could Clive Davis and the show's been trying to screw him up and send him home for a few weeks so I'm sure Kris can overcome it. He may even be able to make whatever song is chosen suit him even if it shouldn't. We'll see but I look forward to this week's finale. Should be an interesting and entertaining two nights and a tight race.

Hilarious!! I wonder who made that. That seems to be from when they filmed that Circus-themed Ford video. That was my favorite Ford video of the last two years.

I'm excited about the finale.
I'm not. I think it's going to be the most boring finale ever.

It's going to be an Adam Lambert extravaganza. The whole thing makes me shake my head. Nobody even knows who the hell Kris Allen is, LoL. If the producers/judges spent half as much time focusing on the other contestants as they did on Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey, we might actually have a finale with two people who are equally recognizable. Instead, we're left with the most anticlimactic finale ever and some guy that nobody could point out in a lineup.

This entire season has been a two horse race. Ever since the Top 13, it's been a boring, predictable journey with everyone knowing that Danny or Adam would win and nobody else ever stood a chance. Watching the show has felt kind of pointless, especially with Simon and Paula declaring that nobody else even had a shot against Danny and Adam. Paula declared them Top 2 right from the start. It kind of undermined the show and made it pointless to watch. Even if we get a surprise with Adam losing and Kris winning, it will be so awkward. Everyone will be like... WTF?!

The producers were probably shitting themselves when they saw that Kris Allen made it to the finale. They really shot themselves in the foot by placing all their bets on two people and ignoring everyone else. Now, they're stuck with the most boring finale in the history of the show. They've got the pimped out media star vs. "that other guy." At this point, Kris should win just to teach the producers/judges that the excessive pimping can backfire. Given how ridiculous they've been from the start, I would love for this season to be declared a giant flop with the most unrecognizable winner ever, LoL.

Since Adam and Kris don't get to choose their own songs next week, here's what Fuller should choose for them...

Adam Lambert - "Love Song for a Vampire"

Kris Allen - "Comfortable" or "Love Soon"

Yeah but we can totally mess with their plans by voting for Kris to win.

Exactly LOL.

Only one of the people in the finale is a judge's favorite so the season can still be salvaged for those sick of the pimping.

I'm excited because while I'm pulling for Kris, I'm also going in with an open mind to because I'm really curious to watch both men perform. I think it's going to be exciting and since I like them both, it will be fun for me. Sure, I want to see Kris pull it off but that doesn't mean I'm turning on Adam LOL.

I'm also just not looking forward to Tuesday night but Wednesday night as well. Actually, what I said in my last post was more or less directed towards Wednesday night with all the guest performances and all moreso then Tuesday night, even though I'm excited about both days.

It also makes me laugh that every year the same people complain that it's going to be the most boring finale ever LOL. As King said, every season follows this pattern. It's actually more rare that both favorites to reach the finale actually get there then it is for a surprise to make it in. Just look at past seasons...Fantasia/Diana (who expected Diana...I sure as hell didn't),. Taylor and Katherine (sure as hell didn't expect Taylor), Jordin/Blake (didn't expect Blake either), and now Adam/Kris and no one expected him to make it here. That is why I don't see what is so predictable. There is usually at least one shakeup on the show every year. Last year was the first year the two judge's favorites during the top 12 made it since season 4. It all depends on who you like. Every season is different. I still prefer last season over this one and the pimping is pretty bad but I still enjoyed this season too. Seasons 3 and 5 are still the worse for me by far but even in those years the finale was always entertaining. The finale is usually always entertaining, both nights are, so I am excited and will be even more excited if Kris does well and pulls this off because it will be one of the most unexpected and unbelievable wins, if not the most unexpected and unbelievable, in Idol history. Kris got thrown under the bus so much and still made it here. That alone should make this season entertaining and great IMO.

Those are some great song selections, Kenny. I would love to see them but somehow I doubt we will get them LOL. For some reason, I think Fuller will do better then Clive Davis ever did, at least I hope. I guess it can't get much worse then what he used to choose LOL but we'll see.

Wow, I don't think the finale will be boring at all. In fact I think it might be one of the best! A boring finale would be if it got down to two people that sucked. Megan and Scott would be one boring finale.

If you were the one that was going to sign a person to your record label, wouldn't you want someone that YOU think is talented and will do well for YOUR label? I can see why they push for certain people, it makes total sense. Sadly many people can't make a good decision when they are allowed to vote on there own. lol.

Larry King with Justin, Kimberly, Elliot, and Sanjaya. Ryan calls in.

When did Guarini get so old and haggard? How old was he during the first season?
