Last season, Dial Idol was showing a clear victory for David Cook. This season, it's literally a dead heat. They're both so close, it's all within the margin of error. Tomorrow is going to be such a nail biter of epic proportions! |

Exactly, although I do feel the judges weren't bad tonight. At some points, they were manipulative, especially Simon, but overall not that bad. The other thing too is Simon hates to be wrong so, like you said, he is covering his ass. He used reverse psychology last year to help get Cook to win knowing full well Archie's fanbase got him there and could get him the win. He felt the same way about Kris coming off of last week so he was trying to help Adam. I don't think he did though. I don't think Kris fans can ever get complacent as this year has showed LOL. This really is like a presidential race. No doubt this will be the closest race ever in Idol history (perhaps closer then Ruben/Clay), much like DWTS. Seems like a trend now with people rebelling in the voting against judge's pimping. First, Danny is eliminated off Idol and now Kris may beat Adam and then Ty makes it far on DWTS and Gilles and Cheryl lose on DWTS. Looks like people are sending a message in the voting finally after taking so long to do it. I can see the backlash being as bad as the backlash for Clay losing in season 2 though if Adam loses. Sure, Adam did not have the sort of final performance Clay had on that finale but I can see his fans being just as upset and you better believe many will feel Adam being gay played a role if he loses. You just know someone will bring that up to fuel the backlash. They did when Clay lost even though he had not come out yet. It's going to be close and it will be a nailbiter but I think it will be Kris and that the judges will still be shocked including Simon, regardless of what he said. Pulling this off would be epic for Kris considering where he came from and all he had against him in this competition. Can't wait to see what happens. I keep making the mistake of checking back for the results and I can't pull myself away from the computer or this board and my plane leaves in less then 6 hours LOL. I guess I will make this my last post. See you all  . |

Final Dial Idol numbers Spoiler: click to toggle Also the Facebook application I found last week that shows the number people putting in votes. Spoiler: click to toggle So close to call. I would be VERY HAPPY if Kris wins. However, I am not going to be completely upset if Adam wins like I would have been with David A. last year. I was impressed how both guys were with each other at the end just like with the two David's last year. This year we just have two completely different types of performers that we really haven't had before. I have to say for a season that first started for me really bad that I felt I was watching out of habit, I am happy with what the finale came to with these two. |

I thought the first round was excellent. Both of those performances were deserving and I definitely think Adam's rendition of 'Mad World' was far better this time around than last. Kris's 'Ain't No Sunshine' was powerful as all hell. Great job by both, but I'm calling this one for Adam. The second round, Adam sounded and looked like a drag queen singing gospel. It was just an awful song for them to pick for him to sing. On the slip side, I absolutely LOVED Kris's laid back, subtle take on 'What's Goin On.' I admit I'm a sucker for an acoustic guitar but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I think Kris did too. Round 2 goes to Kris. Round 3 both were just terrible. The key Kris tried to sing it in was WAY too high. He was flat in pieces of every verse and noticably so. I don't see how anyone could think he did well with it or better than Adam. Now Adam wasn't great either- he did hit his notes and everything vocally was ok, but his interpretation of said song did not go along with the its theme, however lame that theme was. Round 3 is a draw and I REALLLLY felt sorry for Kara here. She had to realize that song sucked. Overall, I think it's very close and nobody had a bang up, perfect night. However, Kris's round 3 song was absolutely atrocious and if anyone takes that song seriously, he could easily leave the competition. Adam did not have moments that were as bad as Kris's in that third song. But call me crazy, I still preferred Kris and hope he wins. Edited by juniorz1, May 20 2009, 08:26 AM.

Dial Idol declares it too close to call. Kris is still 1.1% ahead of Adam on the main graph, but Adam worked his way up on the raw numbers graph. It's going to be very, very, very close. Probably the closest vote in the history of the show. Even if Kris loses, the closeness of a vote will send a message to the producers that Adam isn't quite as popular as they thought. :) Posted Image I think text votes are going to decide the winner. |

I don't think Kris was better vocally than Adam--he clearly wasn't. As you say, the key was too high for him, he missed notes in spots, and he forgot lyrics on top of that, though surely one could just insert random words and nobody would even notice. But honestly, I did feel Kris's version was better as a performance than Adam's for two reasons. First, Adam didn't seem to have figured out a way to make the song seem not so ridiculous (who could blame him, I wouldn't have been able to do it either) and it was written all over his face, to me anyway, what a moronic piece of Velveeta he was saddled with. Whereas Kris sang it like he meant it and actually managed to make the lyrics (the ones he remembered, lol) sound like they may have meant something to him--difficult to do. Secondly, I saw the competitive spirit in Kris that I, as a sports fan, respond to and admire greatly. He wanted to win this fucking thing and he was going to go down trying, bum notes, missed lyrics, strained voice and all. He knew he wasn't going to be better vocally than Adam--he knew that before he stepped on stage, he probably knew it before Adam even performed--but he was going to do his best to make it his. And if he loses, he loses and life will go on for me, like it does every year on AI that I watch since my favorites never win. If Kris wins, it will be a first for me. |

Speaking of text votes. I NEVER got a confirmation my votes were being received. You usually get one that says your vote went through and others will as well. If I get nothing, I may have to cry FOUL if Kris loses. Even last week I got my confirmation by the next morning when I got up. |

If I remember right, people in Adam's thread on TWoP were worrying about the same thing--they were texting in votes for him and not getting confirmation. |
