I love both Adam and Kris - they are both so different and so good in their own elements.

I didn't vote bc I couldn't really vote between them - they will both be successful and I'd like to see either win.

I didn't think last night had the best performances though - and that Kara song was totally not fit for either one of them.

Speaking of text votes. I NEVER got a confirmation my votes were being received. You usually get one that says your vote went through and others will as well. If I get nothing, I may have to cry FOUL if Kris loses. Even last week I got my confirmation by the next morning when I got up.
If I remember right, people in Adam's thread on TWoP were worrying about the same thing--they were texting in votes for him and not getting confirmation.
Okay, Just NOW got the confirmation. I figured that maybe they were behind with all of the text votes and it being so long that people could put in votes for. Just glad to get the confirmation.

I wouldn't be surprised if the producers declare Adam the winner even if he doesn't have the most votes. Seriously. In the eyes of the producers, if Adam loses, it will be the biggest "jump the shark" moment in the history of the show.

They're constantly saying that people are in the Bottom 3 when they really aren't. Nigel Lythgoe confirmed that just recently. Is it possible that they could name a false winner, as well?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that. But could they keep a secret like that. Someone besides the producers would have to be in on it. I am pretty sure that they get an accounting firm (like the Oscars) to count the votes. Talk about the sh*t hitting the fan if something like that came out.

I think Kris winning is more of a :flipoff: to the music industry in general. This whole season has been about telling us what is different and marketable. We as an American public were not trusted enough to make the "correct" decision. I would not be surprised Kris was thrown in that top 36 way back as just a filler spot (like Ricky Braddy and even Allison). He didn't fit the image. Could sing, but didn't have the "star" quality. They never thought he would get this far.

They have had some pretty shitty winners, so if they were going to change results there is a few seasons where they probably should have. I just don't think they would do that.

If Kris wins (he is probably going to) this is another Clay/Ruben season to me. I am STILL baffled as to why Ruben won that season. The difference in the singing ability was huge then and it is now too.

I think many people (NOT ALL) voted for Kris just as a vote against Adam for various reasons. Since they will both get record deals anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter though.

This was such a bad finale, IMO. The round 1 was AWESOME. I liked both, except Kris was better, obviously.

Round 2 sucked. I think juniorz here explained it the best.. Adam was like a drag queen singing gospel. Seriously... it was bad.. and Kris was so boring. Not that it was his fault.. the song choice was horrible. Let this man, Simon Fuller, NEVER EVER be allowed to pick songs.

Round 3.. I actually didn't mind the song, but it clearly didn't suit either of them. Adam was out of his element and just bad. Kris was struggling cause it was too high and I had a feeling he was gonna die of suffocation, because I was under the impression that he could barely catch a breath during the song. So both sucked.. Kris even moreso than Adam, IMO.

So I love Kris, but I really don't care who wins... EXCEPT I want Kris to win, but, as I've said million times now, just to piss off the producers and judges.

I don't buy Adam's act. Him being so nice and humble... It looks like an act to me. So I hope all you Kris fans did your thing and that we all, along with the judges, will be shocked today (well, I'll watch it tomorrow, but still.....)

Reuben/Clay was the closest ever. I rember is being less than 1,400 votes seperating them.

E! Online

Idol's penultimate show of the season averaged an estimated 23.8 million viewers, Fox said, up 5 percent over last Tuesday, tying the show's smallest week-to-finale-week uptick since at least 2005.

Last year, the David Cook-David Archuleta matchup boosted viewership 9 percent from Tuesday to Tuesday. In Idol's glory years of 2006 and 2005, the Taylor Hicks-Katharine McPhee and Carrie Underwood-Bo Bice sing-offs each jacked up Idol by 12 percent over the previous performance episode.

The good news for American Idol is that it got a bounce out of last night's Adam Lambert-Kris Allen sing-off. The so-so news is that it was a so-so one.

The sobering news is that it's going to need a hefty one tonight to avoid tomorrow's ready-to-roll "lowest rated finale ever" headlines.

Last night's results matched 2007's in which the Jordin Sparks-Blake Lewis showdown goosed the numbers by 5 percent.

Overall, Lambert vs. Allen was the least-watched sing-off since Idol's prehistoric first season, which doesn't really count since it was so prehistoric.

In order to avoid recording a new Idol finale low tonight, the show will have to win over 28.9 million—just enough to squeak by 2004's Fantasia-crowning show. (Technically, 2002's Kelly Clarkson-crowning moment in time is Idol's least-watched finale, but again, the first season doesn't really count.)

In order to hit 28.9 million, Idol will have to beef up by more than 5 million viewers from last night, and by more than 4 million from last Wednesday.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that.
Me neither. Idol needs an Adam Lambert win more than Adam Lambert does, LoL.

Rod Stewart has been added to the finale lineup tonight

Anoop Desai and Megan Joy are singing Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” tonight.

Tatiana Del Toro will appear on the finale, according to Paula Abdul. (YES!!!)

Curt Smith of Tears for Fears was in the Idol audience last night -- invited by Adam Lambert. He calls No Boundaries "god awful."

Robert X. Sillerman, CEO of Idol parent company CKX anticipates signing both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen to record deals, but says, “I would not be surprised if… we signed more than two.”

Nigel Lythgoe is NOT a fan of “No Boundaries” He says, “I didn't like the final song that both guys had to sing. In truth their first songs were their best Mad World and Ain’t No Sunshine. There are going to be some great guests tonight and I think it’s a close competition. The only downside is hearing the winner’s song again.”

The winner's song was indeed horrendous, but that is no suprise. It's never been good. Last years was prlly the wrst, IMO.

Of course I want Adam to win, but I think they are both really good. It's anyone's game. Last year everyone and their mother pimped Archie, :puke: and David Cook pulled it out and won, so it's really up in the air.

I don't think the judges pimped Adam anymore than they did Archie last year, but in this case I actually agree with them, lol!

At 1:48 in this video, Ryan starts talking about one of Adam's outfits for tonight's big finale. He seems a bit concerned and says that "no one has ever worn anything like it."

RYAN: "I don't know how to describe it."

MILES: "It's... out there. To say the least. He's going to wear something that nobody at Idol has ever worn anything remotely like."

RYAN: "My question is, without giving it away... there's gotta be something that goes with it?"

LoL, everyone on the TV Guide Channel pre-show is talking about how much they hated the coronation song last night.

Seriously, why did Kara have to write it? Just because she's a songwriter and a judge doesn't mean she had to tarnish the winning song with her ridiculous lyrics. Ugh. I hate her!

"Adam's outfit with Kiss tonight is going to shake some viewers to their core. Alot of alligator involved, and rhinestone studded handcuffs."

Umm... why, Adam? Why?

Now that he doesn't have to worry about losing votes in the Bible belt anymore, I think he's gonna let his freak flag fly.

Inside Edition is reporting that tonight's winner will be "shocking." I'm not sure how good their sources are, but Kris winning would be the only shock.

I guess if Simon takes back his criticism of Kris's performance of "What's Going On" last night and says he loved it when he watched it back at home, we'll know he won.

What's up with the Idol pre-show? It isn't on right now here due to a baseball game.

LOL on Nigel hating the song...
