I agree Mikey Kris may have been the "underdog" (I hate that term btw, it's become a tool to increase buzz IMO) but from the Top 11 Simon commented that he he genuinely thinks Kris is going to do very well in the competition. Kara, Randy and Paula always loved Kris. I think Simon's worst critique for Kris was "You're a good singer but boring" which is the truth. This whole "Kris came from out of nowhere and was the underdog" is a crock of shit IMO Kris was only in the bottom 3 once while Adam was in it twice. |

Yeah, he did get good reviews from the judges over and over. I don't recall them ever being really hard on him. They were pretty hard on Allison and Matt though. Kris has said that Adam deserved it more than once. He also said that Adam is the most talented one they have ever had on AI in an interview last night. |

from the knoll on twop: "I watched at a viewing party at the Grammy Museum and the party is still going on at the Nokia Theater. It had been confirmed that Kris, Adam, Gokey and Allison ALL have recording deals in the works that simply need to be signed. And Kiss seriously LOVED Adam and want him when he's free to perform with them. Adam is in great high spirits and has been making funny Simon jokes with Terri Seymour. One joke was that Simon should get Kiss boots with 6 inch heels so he'll be taller. Allison is like this affectionate little munchkin. And Cyndi Lauper spent some time mentoring her, teaching her breathing exercises, having her breathe into a balloon. Everyone is very, very happy. More tomorrow. " |

Tell me again why Adam should have won? I really don't think his album is going to make much money. That's just what I get from trying to figure out what genre of music he'd be under. For Kris, I think it could go either way in regards to his success. Anyways I'm happy for Kris bc you can tell that he was honestly surprised by the win, as was I. |

I guess it's my turn now... Wow, you people LOVE to COMPLAIN! Wow... I loved the show. Loved the duets, loved the guests, loved those awards... Sure, some duets were not so good (Adam/Kiss - not my thing, Steve Martin, Megan and Michael..), the awards were staged, but I loved them.. It gave me second best moment of this season and that was Kara showing that bitch how it's DONE! Tatiana was funny as always.. Danny singing Hello was so not a good choice, since Cook killed it last year. Speaking of Cook, he was AMAZING! My third favorite thing of the evening. And of course, Kris winning was just shocking to me. I was really prepared to hear Adam's name. I really was. And I was actually okay with it. I didn't care anymore. And then... OH MY GOD! I couldn't believe it. Too bad the camera didn't close up on the judges. But I still saw them pissed. Oh and did anyone else notice? Seconds before Ryan announced the winner... the camera showed the entire stage and you could see the judges from the back. Paula turns around to her left (where Adam's parents were sitting) and it looks like she was showing them two thumbs up or something. It was really fast and maybe I am imagining, but I thought I saw that. And then Kris won... BUAAHHAHAHHAHAHA! TAKE THAT, FOX and SIMON and PAULA and KARA and RANDY!   Now, with all the debate here.. Yes, I agree that Kris doesn't have the biggest voice ever. Actually he has an average sized voice, to say it like that. Okay, maybe a little bit over average. :D Adam does have a huge voice. He can hit the highest notes. And his performances are impressive, I give him that. BUT I would NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS listen to Adam's album. NEVER! Kris is a good artists. He changes up songs just as much as Adam does, but not so flashy and dramatic. And to me that's fine, cause in this case less was more. What can I say.. I love Jason Mraz. And I could see Kris sing music like that. And yes, while I didn't like ALL of Kris' performances, I didn't like all of Cook's performances last year. But I still liked him the most out of the bunch. And the fact that was most upsetting was that Kris was the only one never to be featured before the top 36 or whatever. And yes, they praised some of his performances. Even Simon said it was AMAZING after Falling Slowly. But Kris was never labeled as "the God of rock/music" (Kara called Adam that), as the one who will be in the finals (which both Simon and Paula said many times for Adam), as someone who was THE BEST. Adam was the one who got more pimp spots than anyone. All those things annoyed me. And that was another reason why I wanted Adam to lose. Plus, like I said, his personality seems fake to me. And there you go. Good season for me. Awesome finale! Till next year... |

Just listened to the live studio version of "No Boundaries" of both Adam and Kris. I really like both versions for different reasons. Adam brought it back to that 80's big hair metal power ballad. Kris I thought made it a more laid back rock that is the norm of late. Listening to it, it does seems that it is just one of those songs that is REALLY hard to sing live because neither one of them sounded very good singing in live. I was thinking today while reading reviews and blogs on other boards most people were Adam or Kris with very few focused somewhere else. I think that goes to show what our top 13 was this season. I know for me I didn't even really get full interest until the top 36 and that wasn't until Kris got through. He had caught my attention, but I never thought he would get as far as he did. But one thing that I had been noticing as I was reading older posts, blogs and commentary of the season is how many people couldn't believe what the judges were thinking was "good" and well as how there were so many that we saw for the first time, but didn't get past the top 36. Many times people were saying "HUH?" at some of their comments. It is almost like they had the top 12 in mind they wanted and just filled in spots with okay people to make 36. I really think both Allison and Kris were two of those throw-away performers, but we voted them in and it messed with the plan. One thing I noticed is that the judges (and the executives in the music industry in general) are still back 10-20 years ago. Everyone this season fit a character spot. Heaven forbid we had two divas, rockers or country artists in the bunch. I really think they need to shake the judges up by having a younger judge in the mix. Get someone in that 25-35 range. Old enough to have seen trends come and go, yet young enough to know what the next generation is looking for. I was just tired of being told what I am suppose to like by the judges. How many times did we have to hear the judges saying "I see you as _______ type of artist"? How about just trying to find the 12 best singers instead of focusing on having certain types of performers. |

Simon Cowell still skeptical of new 'American Idol' winner Kris Allen After stating Kris Allen wasn't "good enough" to compete in American Idol's finale, Simon Cowell is apparently still skeptical that he deserves to have been crowned the show's eighth-season winner. Allen, a 23-year-old who currently resides in Conway, AR was crowned Idol's eighth-season winner during Wednesday night's live finale broadcast on Fox. He defeated Adam Lambert, a 26-year-old Los Angeles resident whom Cowell and the rest of Idol's judges had repeatedly openly touted as the competition's winner-in-waiting. "[Kris] is probably the right winner in terms of being a nice guy," Cowell told Ryan Seacrest during the Thursday morning interview on the Idol host's syndicated radio show. "[But] was he the best singer in the competition? No." "You know what my feeling on the show is," Cowell added. "I mean he's popular. If you allow America to vote, you live with the vote. I wouldn't have said he was the best singer in the competition, no. He was like a little puppy dog." Seacrest then asked Cowell to rank Allen in comparison to American Idol's seven previous winners, causing Cowell to just laugh and pose the same question back to Seacrest. "I'd probably put him in the middle," Seacrest told Cowell. "In the middle?" Cowell laughed. "Okay, who's below him?" "Ruben," Seacrest said, referring to second-season Idol champion Ruben Studdard. "He's below him?" Cowell asked. "Yes," said Seacrest. "Okay, [who else]?" Cowell replied. "Who's won the show, I can't remember!" Seacrest said. "Taylor Hicks," Cowell offered, referring the fifth-season Idol champion he has repeatedly panned as the show's worst winner. "[Yes], Taylor Hicks!" Seacrest said. "Okay, well he's above him," Cowell replied. Last week, Cowell had stated that Allen was "not a good enough singer to compete with Adam" in the finale. According to Cowell, Danny Gokey -- the third finalist who was still in the competition with Allen and Lambert at the time -- was "the only one who can compete with Adam on vocals." However Gokey ended up being eliminated after last week's performance round, leaving Allen to face off against Lambert during this week's finale. "Listen, congratulations Kris. Anyone that gets the public vote, good luck to them," Cowell said later in his interview with Seacrest. RealityTVWorld |

I am watching American Idol Extra on Fox Reality and they are interviewing Kris. They showed his first audition. But then he said that he even had to do one of those sing for your life to get into the top 36. |
