Gokey Voters Sided With Kris Allen

Sources at "American Idol" tell us the margin between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert "wasn't even close" -- and the biggest factor in Allen's win was Danny Gokey.

Here's what we know. The "lion's share" of Gokey's votes went to Kris Allen. The extent of the lopsidedness surprised a lot of the big wigs at "A.I." We were not told the exact votes but our sources say the AT&T scandal had no impact on the outcome -- the spread was that wide.

Here's what we "know?" How do we "know" that? Does the show have any way of identifying which votes came from people who previously voted for any specific contestant (not just Gokey?)? Can the show identify how many votes Adam received as the competition went on from people whose favorites were eliminated earlier? Or Kris, for that matter?

If they "know" that people who voted for Gokey voted for Kris, then tell us how they know that. I think there's a lot of assuming passing off as knowing, and they're extrapolating all that from the statement that Kris had a blowout win. The only way I can see them being able to even guess at a Gokey assist would be if the margin of Kris over Adam was the equivalent to Kris's plus Danny's votes as compared to Adam the night of top 3. Thus, if, hypothetically, that night Danny had 10 million votes, Kris had 15 million and Adam had 15 million, if the final vote count was 25 million for Kris and 15 million for Adam, I would still question whether 100% of the people who previously voted for Gokey were motivated to pick up the phone and vote their fingers off like they did for their favorite but at least they would be basing their theory on SOMETHING.

I actually do not know why I am surprised to be disappointed with this season's winner...out of the previous seven seasons, I only ever rooted for two wnners - Cook and Sparks.
Does that mean you wanted Justin to win in season 1?
Oh, I didn't watch Season 1! LOL! Should have mentioned that!

Ummm, whatever. I am so sick of AI and their shady voting shit. AT&T and Idol can both kiss my ass. :)

Amazingly, I'm more impressed with the reporting of the Arkansas Democratic Gazette than I am with the New York Times:

Quote:

Complaints about unfair voting tactics in last week's American Idol finale bubbled out of the blogosphere and surfaced nationally Wednesday, but the show's producers and sponsor AT&T defended the vote that resulted in Arkansan Kris Allen winning the title.

In its coverage of the Idol frenzy locally, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported on May 20 that AT&T, a corporate sponsor of the televised competition, provided more than 30 cell phones as well as instruction on "power texting" at a party at the Peabody Little Rock hotel on the competition's final performance night, May 19. Power texting refers to methods by which a caller can send as many as 10 votes at once.

AT&T representatives also made 50 text-ready phones available at a watch party at Conway's Estes Stadium and provided a cell-phone charging station, the newspaper reported. AT&T's mobile-phone network is the only one on which Idol watchers can cast votes through text messages.

Supporters of runner-up Adam Lambert claimed voting irregularities on Internet chat boards, according to a story in Wednesday's New York Times.

In a prepared statement Wednesday, Fox Broadcasting Co. said, "Fox and the producers of American Idol are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol."

Fox has a third-party system in place to ensure that votes are fair, and there's no way that a few individuals could have tainted the process, the company added.

At the Peabody watch party, Bobbie Kierna of Greenbrier voted 10,840 times on one of the phones provided by AT&T at a roped-off area with signs advertising it as a "Texting Zone." She said she stayed until 11:48 p.m. to vote for Allen, who was in school with her daughter at the University of Central Arkansas.

AT&T set up a 15-foot-tall logo balloon in the hotel's lobby and used AT&T tablecloths, said Greg Mosser, director of catering and conference services at the Peabody. Two local store managers went to the event, he said, and the company gave away phones as part of the promotional event, held with radio station KLAL-FM, Alice 107.7.

At last week's event, Matt Jordan, senior marketing manager for AT&T, said the company set up the "Texting Zone" as an official sponsor of American Idol. A handful of AT&T staff members were there, handing out fliers and teaching people to power text.

At UCA's Estes Stadium, a handful of people wearing polo shirts with the AT&T logo set up a couple of tables, signs and a charging station for cell phones.

Sonja Keith, an organizer for the Kris Allen Kick Awesome Task Force, said she had talked to a local AT&T representative about problems with getting through to American Idol voting lines at a previous watch party, as well as trying to secure prizes as giveaways, when he mentioned that representatives would be at the Peabody watch party and could also go to Conway.

In a prepared statement Wednesday on the allegations, AT&T said, "In Arkansas, a few local AT&T employees were invited to attend two local watch parties organized by the community. Caught up in the enthusiasm of rooting for their hometown contestant, they brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested."

In the future, AT&T will make sure employees "understand our sponsorship celebrates the competition, not individual contestants," according to the statement. "That said, it's quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results."

Keith said she's upset that AT&T's involvement, which she felt was a good thing, has cast a shadow over Allen's victory.

"I don't think it influenced the outcome," she said. "I think it's sad that a week later, this kind of thing has come up because I think it's shortchanging Kris Allen."

I mean, this reporter actually went out and interviewed people and named them by name and everything. There is a LOT of detail in this story. Seriously, either the NYT should actually do its job and report, like this journalist did, or don't cover a story at all.

Adam Lambert: “If You Stay Tuned, We’ll Have All the Answers You’re Looking For”

Adam Lambert may finally answer the questions about his sexual orientation that have been dogging him since the post-Idol finale press tour began last week.

“If you stay tuned, we’ll have all the answers you’re looking for,” answered Adam in response to a question from Elvis Duran in a Z100 radio interview this morning, “Very very very soon, everybody is going to find out what they need to find out.”

That explains Ryan Seacrest’s mysterious twitter today, “What up adam and kris! crushing it on the today show! Btw adam will address the sexuality speculation soon. They are both superstars!” Oh Ryan, such an insider. NOT.

There’s a rumor going around that Adam’s got a cover story in the next issue of Rollingstone magazine. The speculation is he’ll “come out” via the article.

Throughout his entire Idol journey, Adam has never attempted to hide who he is. Do we really need him to spell it out for us? Seriously, the bulletin is unnecessary as far as I’m concerned. Maybe the press will shut up about it already if he finally admits the obvious.

MJsBigBlog

-------------------------------------------------------------

It's so painfully obvious that he's gay. I don't understand why everyone's making it such a big deal, and I don't understand why Adam's turning it into such a big game. Memo to Adam: If you don't want to come out, don't come out. If you want to the world to know you're gay, tell them. What's with all the weird ambiguity? Is it all about teasing the press? I find that very annoying.

I guess some people just want to hear him actually say that he is. He has made it very obvious by things he has already said in interviews (not that it wasn't already). At least he isn't denying it or not answering at all like Clay Aiken did.

I only wish he would say it simply so everyone can move on. Pretty clear to me which team he plays for yet everyone needs to be the first to get the answer from him. So it sounds like Rolling Stone is the first one to get the "announcement". I guess he is making it a game by not answering. But then again it also seems that he is the type of guy that he doesn't let this be something that defines him. He doesn't feel the need to make a statement or to justify if he is gay or straight. I give him credit for that.

EW.com has the interviews with Adam up now. Just finished watching them and it is really good. It is too bad AI doesn't take more time to get to know the artists like that because it would be nice to see what they are thinking when they chose the song that they do. Instead we get a ton of focus on the judges and less on the performers.

Kris I think will be up tomorrow.

That's because Perez is an idiot troll.

The funniest thing lately with him is, he posted a picture of Kathy Griffin wearing her bikini and said she needed to put a bag over her face (Perez needs to look in the mirror). Then a few days ago he posted a picture of him, Kathy, and Kathy's mom at some Anti-Prop 8 rally and he was hanging out with them, more than likely sucking up to them. I guess since they agree with him, unlike Miss Teen Idiot California, they are his buddies now.

Now he just posted how Adam announcing his sexuality isn't an issue, yet he's been posting about it since finale night.

Wow...talk about coming back to alot of stuff going on LOL. I have alot to catch up on. No surprise given I've been gone a week and then I had limited access to the internet thanks to my damn cable and internet company (seriously, what a bunch of morons). I figured I would have alot of reading and posting to do so away I go with my long ass posts LOL.

I will break up my reactions to the finale and to the aftermath since my posts are long enough as it is LOL. However, it wouldn't be me if I didn't post some long response to something so here it goes:

Rather then ramble on incoherently I'm going to organize my thoughts in order of how the finale progressed since I am rewatching it right now. I caughy a glimpse of some of it on my trip but not all so I wanted to watch the whole thing before commenting. Now, on to my reactions:

The intro was pretty good. Very intense, especially once we got to Ryan in the dark theater. I love the video intros we've gotten this year with performance highlights and judges's comments spliced together. Very intense and they are better then the shit recaps we used to get during the results show. I hope they keep them.

I could've done without the judges's crap at the beginning of the show. They do that crap every year. Every year we have a montage of Randy's repetitive sayings, Paula's incoherentness, and whatever they splice together to try to get a reaction out of Simon. The Kara part was the only new thing about it and that is only because it's her first year. Even the Kara aspect sucked because it was all about her being "sweet," which was not really who she was to begin with. Dumb.

It's also nice that the staircase seems a little more safer this year at the Nokia. I feared for everyone's lives last year.

I should also say to that it was nice to see Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood looked gorgeous. I was very disappointed one of the rumors of all 7 Idol winners being on stage to perform was untrue but it was nice to see some of the winners and former contestants. I was also disappointed that Carly Smithson did not perform. Didn't she post on Twitter that she was rehersing for a performance? I was looking forward to that although I will admit I didn't understand why they would have her perform to begin with. Nice to see her regardless. Nice to see Micheal Johns in the audience too and Heather Locklear, who looked great. Not so happy to see Mikalah "I can't do anything but be Idol finale correspondent" Gordon.

Adam and Kris also looked awesome in the matching white at the beginning. Wish I could say the same about the others, which leads me into the first group performance.

First Group Performance: Awful. It looked so unrehersed, which makes no sense since we know from Micheal Sarver's Myspace video that they all did reherse. Maybe too much time was spent screwing around. Whatever the case, the dancing sucked. All they did was jump around (especially Scott). The vocals were a mess whenever anyone but Alison and Adam didn't sing. Gee, I wonder why that was?! MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY TWO GOD DAMN PEOPLE ON THE SHOW WHO CAN HANDLE A ROCK SONG!!! When is this show going to realize you can't force 12-13 people to sing a song which was sung by an individual and not a band or group and expect it to work? Plus, not everyone is capable of singing certain songs so if the show is going to do group numbers they need to look back at earlier seasons when the group performances forced on songs that worked well for group numbers and that blended the voices better. The past two years have been awful with these things. The worst parts had to be Jasmine's horrible note, which has pretty much made me take back saying back in the first week of the top 13 that she earned her spot, and Alison having to bail Danny out when he clearly forgot it was his turn to sing and she stepped in front of him and sang his part to save his ass. Just terrible. Poor Pink! I hope she didn't see this shit. They should've just let Alison sing this on her own. It would've rocked. She and Adam were the best part of that number along with Alexis blowing a kiss at the camera (no doubt to her daughter), which was adorable.

David Cook: Wow...his performance was everything I expected and more. Just beautiful and brilliant. I really hope the song does well because that had to be hard to do. It was his first big performance since his brother passed and it being one year from his Idol win and with everything going on...I hope he got the support. He was brilliant and I got as teary-eyed as I expected. The performance was great and kudos to Idol for their involvement. David looked great. I love his blonde highlights.

Golden Idol Award #1: I don't mind these because they are fun but did they really have to do one right after David Cook? That was in poor taste IMO. They should've just went to commerical. It was nice to see Nick Mitchell again. LOVED him. That was a funny segment. I just knew they would bring him back along with others like Tatiana and bikini girl. Looking back on it, I would've rather they kept someone like Nick or Tatiana instead of Megan, Jorge, etc because it would've added a bit more entertainment factor. I guess it's easy to say that now because earlier I was afraid of someone like Nick or Tatiana going far over some more talented people but since some pretty talented people went home while less talented people stayed in anyway, I guess it would've been ok. Great to see some of the other memorable audition contestants too and how funny was Kris and Adam turning the award around for the camera? LOVED that! Ryan dressing up like Nick was kind of lame though. Ryan either overplayed shit during the finale or looked bored and it was annoying.

Lil/Queen Latifah: Let me get my shallow comments out of the way. Why the hell would Queen Latifah where what she wore? Awful. Also, why the hell di Lil and Jasmine have the same hairstyle? Talk about making things confusing onstage LOL. It looks better on Lil though. This duet wasn't bad but I don't get why Lil and some others got duets with mentors in the first place. That is usually for the top 5 only. I guess this means the show and judges still like her despite everything LOL. It would've been cool if she did a duet with someone like Bette Midler or something given how she sang 'The Rose" and commented on how she had a better voice then Bette. It could've been a moment similar to the Kara/bikini girl smackdown.

Second Group Performance: First off, who the hell's bright idea was it for Alexis and Anoop of all people to start off singing with Jason Mraz?! Dumb move. The point is to mesh the voices. That really was more for Megan and Kris IMO. Second, while the performance as a whole was rough (even Jason stunk but maybe that was the Idols drowning out his voice LOL), Alexis just sucked. I love her and I won't even begin to argue with others again about her image (the judges made her change her look) but she was just a mess on this performance. All the Idols were but we got to hear her and Anoop a bit more clearly on this and Anoop was able to get by but she just...ugh. I blame the song, which is not her, but I also blame her because she was pushing her vocals too much. She almost made it seem like she had no business being in the top 13, which she did. She should've went much farther but whatever.

Kris/Keith Urban: AWESOME!! Talk about bringing the finale back to life! What a breath of fresh air! Both of them meshed well and no one dominated despite a superstar being involved. Great job. Kris really is in his element on guitar IMO. I loved Kris's video package too. I was shocked by how good it was. I was shocked by how much attention Idol put on him in the finale. Sure, they still pimped Adam but Kris came off well. I guess they all had a feeling he had a good shot to win so they had to cover their ass LOL. Kris's family was so cute but his mom's dress was so not right for her LOL.

Girls Performance/Fergie+Black Eyed Peas: Another mess. First off, yet another group number featuring a song none of the girls can sing well because it does not suit them. Secondly, the outfits were atrocious, especially Alison who looked like she was wearing a bag rather then a skirt. I love Fergie and the Peas but they were just awful. Maybe it was the shitty Idol sound system striking again (which somehow sounds even worse at the Nokia Theater, go figure) but it still sounded bad for whatever reason. Fergie looked like hell too. Girl needs to go back to her old hair color. The best part of this performance was the camera cutaway due to the "naughty" part of the song. I actually like the song. It's on the radio and it's infectious but it sounded like shit and do did everyone involved. Major dropoff after Kris and Keith's performance. I did like Alison jumping up and down behind Randy during the performance. That was cute. The people dressed in the white and back full body costumes were sort of...interesting too LOL.

Golden Idol Award #2/Kara and Bikini Girl: Nice to see bikini girl back. I had almost forgotten about her since I was only thinking about Nick and Tatiana. Anyway, this had to be one of the funniest Idol segments ever and one of the best moments of the year. Between Ryan's comment about what was "new" about bikini girl (easily the line of the year) and Kara coming out and outsinging her and then showing off her bikini bod...priceless. I could not stop laughing. She looked so pissed and it was quite the payoff. Simon and Randy's reactions before and after were hilarious and so typical of a man LOL. How cool was it that they all dared Kara and she did it for charity? I've always liked her but I've come to love her the past few weeks and especially after this. She's been the most fair and genuine judge IMO. She doesn't seem caught up in the show's agenda . She put herself out there and I applaud her for what she did. She actually has a nice voice. I wonder why she didn't keep singing. David Cook's reaction was priceless too. Paula applauding her and supporting her beforehand (I read her interviews after the show) was so nice. It shows there is no bad blood there. Kara fits right in now. AWESOME moment! Brought the show back to life again. The show did a good job too of covering up the surprise. The girls were all lined up behind the judge's during the Fergie and Peas performance so no one could see and the judge's never caught to anyone but Randy and Paula. Nice job there.

Alison/Cyndi Lauper: Either Cyndi was high, drunk, or just out of it. She just didn't seem in it. Alison dominated the performance. She had more emotion and her vocals were great. She saved the performance but it would've been better had Cyndi actually brought...something LOL.

On another note. the little interviews with Kris's and Adam's family was cute. I was shocked by how short the one with Adam's family was but they never seemed to get as much attention as Kris' anyway. They don't seem to say much and don't have the "cute" factor that Kris' family has. Not meant to be an insult. Just an observation. I just wish Kris' mother wore a different dress. His wife looked pretty and his dad is so funny. Loved when Ryan asked him about those who had not voted for his son and he said not to go there LOL.

Danny/Lionel Ritchie: All Danny hate aside, this wasn't bad. I've liked him since his last week on the show with the exception of his first performance top 3 week. The dancing was hideous as usual and it was a bit cheesy but they both looked to be having fun and their voices meshed well, which is how it is supposed to be. It was ok enough to keep the show going well. Ruben singing with them and his little dancing while they both sang was funny though. I wonder if that was his wife next to him. I'm assuming so. She's pretty.

Adam/KISS: First off. loved Adam's video package. Loved the use of "Viva La Vida" even if Idol has overused the hell out of it this year (including Matt Giraud's performance of it). I had a feeling Adam would perform with a big. legendary rock band and not someone like David Bowie and KISS had been rumored for weeks so I figured it was them. The minute Adam came out in that unique and awesome (yes, I found it awesome and very fitting for the performance) outfit and began singing, I knew we would be seeing KISS. Kudos to Idol for going all out with having KISS lowered down on stage. I think Adam has changed Idol forever. He's made the show more elaborate. This year's production values (sound still needs work) have been awesome, especially for the finale. Back to the performance, just an awesome performance for a rock fan like me. Gotta give KISS credit. The makeup is such a cool idea. You never see their age LOL. Loved the end of the performance with the pyro and the guitar breaking. Adam was excellent. This is why I know he will make it. He's a throwback to classic rock and it's needed someone like him to make it big again. This performance was one of the best of the night and blew everything before it away, easily. I know it was a clear attempt at pimping but I don't care. I loved it. I could've done without the split screen, which was just stupid and pointless.

Third Group Performance/Santana: I LOVE Santana but this was shit. Way to stall a nice run the finale had going starting with the Kara/bikini girl moment. Matt Giraud pretty much proved why America was right to not vote for him. Hell, he made me question why he was saved. He was just awful and was awful all night. He is so hit or miss and his attempts at being like Justin Timberlake in terms of fashion are getting old. The hat, the scarf...I used to like it but he needs to be himself a little too. The vocals as a whole sucked overall so Matt isn't the only culprit here. The dancing sucked too and was so awkward, especially Danny who always seems to try too hard. Poor Santana, who had to perform with the Idols. Adam and Kris' vocals were the only tolerable parts (Kris was especially good). The only other part I liked was Adam and Alison dancing with each other on one side of the stage. ADORABLE! I love those two. Heather Locklear's look to the camera was pretty damn amusing too LOL. Otherwise, terrible, especially the end where they all the Idols were either jumping around or playing an air guitar or some other shit. It looked so bad, especially having a legend like Carlos Santana on stage while they are doing it.

The last Ford video was pretty good but only because of the great singing of Adam and Kris in the background of it. Seeing all the piss poor clips of the other videos this year (with the exception of one or two) reminded me of how bad these have gotten). That was a nice moment with David Cook giving them both the car. I liked that better then Ryan doing it. How funny was Adam saying the car was a "lovely vehicle?" Who says that? LOL. Did Ford pay them to kiss ass?! I can't believe they still act like the car thing is some sort of surprise. The top 2 gets it every year. The only surprise is that the car sucks this year. Not because it's hybrid but because my understanding is that Fusions suck. Seems they got hosed a bit LOL. It's so awesome seeing how close Kris and Adam are too like they were in that video. Love that.

Steve Martin/Megan/Micheal: Simon's reaction right before this performance (which looked like fear combined with laughter) said it all. Why? I LOVE Steve Martin and I get what his music is about but it does not fit on a show like this, let alone the finale. And why with Micheal and Megan and why is everyone getting duets or some special moment now? It used to be top 5 singing with mentors on the finale. I don't like pretty much everyone getting one because it takes away from some of the specialness of the top 5. If they are going to involve everyone, I wish they would do it like the season 4 finale and have it all occur in a medley all at once. It's better that way. Speaking of which, why didn't Scott get one? Talk about a scandal. The only person with no duet or shining solo moment is a disabled person. Good one, Idol. Back to the performance...it was alright for what it was. Micheal was ok. I like him and think if he sticks to country he may be somewhat successful but he seems to have bought into the judge's comments about him being a soul singer, which I don't get but whatever. Megan sounded like crap, as always. The only week she was ok was when she was sick, which is so ironic. Why she made the top 13 and got that far over so many that were better I will never know. The biggest issue here was that this was just boring. It felt so out of place and like such a waste. They could've filled this time with something so much better. Best part was Steve Martin saying he hoped he would be the one to win. That was funny LOL. Part of me wonders if he was only on as a replacement for someone else who was going to be on but canceled last minute. Steve and his band were announced pretty close to the actual finale and maybe Idol looked at who had albums coming out (since we all know plugging shit is why so many guests appear on Idol) and he and his band were the only ones they get could get. Megan looked kind of embarrassed, like she felt she got short-changed performing with a comedian and his banjo and folk band. Micheal seemed fine but he always is. Megan just seemed really deflated and I can't say I blame her. The others got so much better then she and Micheal. Megan sucks but I still can see her point LOL.

Off topic...I can't believe we got a full trailer for that Disney G Force crap. I know the Idol finale is like the Super Bowl in that many pay big bucks to advertise and all but what a waste of time that maybe could've been used for the show. I don't mind it but of all movies you give more time to that one? Wow...ok. That one boggles my mind.

Guys Performance/Rod Stewart: Haven't seen Rod in ages and wish I hadn't. I love him but he really just needs to call it quits. His voice is hoarse now and he is stumbling all over. I know he has had drinking issues in the past so a part of me hopes that he was just drunk and not having other issues but who knows. Regardless, Rod actually made the male Idols who sang before him tolerable and that says alot because they were pretty bad vocally and from a dancing standpoint. I also found it both funny and appalling having people like Danny and Scott dancing around singing "If you want my body, if you think I'm sexy." Not much else to say here LOL.

Golden Idol #3/Tatiana: Well, we all knew she was getting one of these and they saved the train wreck for last. It wasn't as entertaining as it should've been though. It was still funny but it came off rushed. Why not have had Tatiana sing a little longer before security came? I did like how she sang that same song again and how she was classic Tatiana. As I said with Nick Mitchell, I really wish now that either he or Tatiana had made it a bit farther to keep things interesting since the show put people like Megan, Jasmine, etc through but whatever. Glad to see other crazy audition people too. It was fun seeing those auditions again.

Queen/Adam/Kris: Ok...fanboy moment...that had to be the best performance on any Idol show I have ever seen. This was the best idea this show has had in ages. Instead of just having the top two sing you put them with a legendary singer/band and have the rest of the top 12/13 sing in the background. It's a nice representation of the whole season and I hope they do something like this every year. I know they can't do the same type of thing or the same song but kind of pick something that suits the top 2 and represents the season. "We Are The Champions" suited this season as there were so many standouts (Adam, Kris, Alison, Danny, etc) and there is a sense that many of them will do well so it fit. I also love that the surprise appearance was Queen and not someone like Micheal Jackson or something. I prefer more performances with guests the Idols rather then the guest singing on their own right before the results, which has become the pattern in recent years. The lighting, smoke, chorus and overall production values were awesome. I know it was more Adam pimpage but I hope Idol continues with this. Adam kind of pushed Idol to really up their production standards and I love it. The other Idols and the chorus swaying with the smoke and the lighting and all was just such a magnificent sight to watch. It looked awesome. Kris and Adam sang so well together (hopefully Danny took notes during the finale on what duets are all about) and I love how Alison was standing up on the highest pedestal behind Queen, Adam, and Kris. That's my girl. Some of the other Idols like Matt and Alexis looked annoyed being on stage during this but too bad LOL. This was really such a great performance. I got chills and seeing Paula and Kara swaying and singing, which was so adorable (more proof that the issues with the judges is blown out of proportion) and seeing Adam and Kris shaking hands and playing off each other made this even better and more emotional. I'm so glad we got too guys that are really friends in the finale because I always like when the top 2 are close. It makes for a great finale and a great end to things. This also further proved what many of us have said...Adam is going to be big. This is his element, probably moreso then KISS. He was unbelievable with this song. He would fit right in with Queen and they do need to fill an opening as Paul Rodgers is no longer with them so there you go. Adam should explore that. Queen and KISS are still relevant but Adam could help bring that kind of old school, theatrical rock back to the level it was years ago. I really think he can providing everything is handled right for him. Anyway, fantastic performance. Best of the night. Best of the season. The best performance I've ever seen in my mind.

Winning Moment: So, the show only went to 7 minutes after? Damn. I made sure to record a whole extra hour. I guess better safe then sorry. This is the one time I don't mind them going way over time since it's the best night of the season but whatever. Simon's words were nice (and were pretty much designed to cover his ass) but would've liked to hear from the other judge's. That is what I mean. They cut out some things I would've wanted and they could've gone a little while longer. Wouldn't have been the first time. I like the camera shots of the families right before the announcement was made. Intense. I wonder why Ryan never mentioned how close the voting was and no one has seemed to mention it since either. We know it had to be close. I guess maybe he didn't want another Ruben/Clay situation when he bungled those voting numbers. I kind of knew Kris won when Ryan didn't say much all night other then a 100 million votes being cast (which was an amazing number). To me, that meant Kris had won because everytime Ryan hypes something up it almost always never happens so him hyping up an upset would mean it wouldn't happen IMO. The way the whole show went you could sense Kris won it. Kris and his family got more attention then ever and, while there was Adam pimping, it came off more like they were trying to send a message that American made a mistake moreso then anything else. Anyway, Adam and Kris smiling as they waited and Adam's genuine happiness for Kris when he won was so nice to watch. This is why I'm glad it came down to these two if Alison couldn't get in there. The genuine happiness for each other and the fondness there. Both are nice guys and this goes to show Simon that you can be humble. It annoyed me him picking on Kris' humility when Adam always was humble too. More double standards. Kris's shock and saying that Adam deserved it was so cute and proved just how great he was, along with Adam. They both rooted for each other. Kris' family all huddled together as they watched him on stage was just so adorable. I did notice Simon and Paula hugging but I think now that they may just do that every year as some kind of emotional release with the season over. Paula looked like she was putting up a front and Simon may have said nice things before the results and may have shaken Kris' hand while he was singing but he was clearly pissed the whole night. I don't think they all knew the results but I think they assumed Kris would win. Simon seemed resigned to it before the show even began on Wednesday. I think that is why Kris got more focus. They knew they had to begin damage control. I can see why Simon is upset but I feel he and Paula are the most responsible for this. Their over the top pimping is what I think killed all of Adam's momentum. Whatever the case, I hope they learned their lesson. I certainly gained alot of respect for Kara and the same goes for Randy. Randy was bad last year but this year down the stretch to the end of the season I feel he got much better, especially toward Kris. Kara, I felt, was great all year and very genuine. They genuinely seemed ok with the result IMO. Their hug and celebrating for Kris seemed sincere to me, unlike Paula and Simon's reactions. Paula's reaction during Kris singing at the end seemed so deflated LOL.

I also have to say Kris singing "No Boundaries" after winning was so much better then on performance night. I think they lowered the key for him. It still needs work but so much better. I also like the whole thing with the Idol winner getting the trophy. I know they introduced that at the new Idol attraction down in Florida but it was cool seeing it awarded to Kris. As always, the end was emotional. Not as much as last year but with the whole underdog thing and Kris hugging his wife at the end (who is beautiful, by the way) and seeing his parents and all it was just such a nice sight to see. I also liked the camera shots. We saw so many of Kris' family and wife, Carrie Underwood, the other Idols, etc. They did a good job capturing the action and making it even more emotional. The cutest part had to be Alison and Adam (I LOVE those two...that would've been the best finale IMO) with their arms around each other swaying and dancing as Kris sang and they still were together as the show ended. Alison, Adam, and Kris definitely seem the most close (Rick helped proved that with the top 4 picture LOL). Danny and Alison seem somewhat close too (the food fight, their little verbal exchanges) but those three seem to be the most tight.

Did anyone notice too when Kris went on the landing behind the judges and fell? Kris hugged Kara, shook Randy's hand, hugged Paula and then Simon was shaking his hand when he fell off. Thankfully, he landed on his feet but he scared the daylights out of Paula LOL. That pyro shit in back of him (must be the Adam effect since there was more pyro then usual for the grand finale...perhaps in case Adam won LOL) had to scare him. That could've been a Micheal Jackson moment there if Kris hadn't left the stage. I think they tell them all to get off the stage now at the end. It seemed that way last year too when they first moved to Nokia.

Anyway, I'm happy for Kris. It was a major payoff for all those who hated the pimping but I also feel that Idol got it right. Like Cook, I feel Kris needed it more. I think Adam will be fine regardless. I think this Idol season definitely had the most talent in the top 5 that had potential to have each of them make a big impact. That doesn't mean they will because everything has to play right but I'm sure at least 2-3 will be very successful. A part of me would've liked to see Adam win but this was great to see because they both were great and it was truly an awesome finale. Right on par with last year's overall. Maybe not as good because I LOVED Cook but pretty close. Kudos to Idol on a great season and can't wait until next year.

Ok...now on to all the other stuff and the reactions and what not.

As I said, this top 5 has the most potential of any top 5 on this show ever, Danny and Matt included. Of course, this is providing they get the proper treatment and go with the right sort of music and such. I do not think all of them will be huge. Hell, I think most of them will merely do alright enough. However, one or two will be big and my bets are on Adam and Alison. Why? Well, like Rick said, Adam can bring back that glam/theatrical sort of rock. Not only that but just listening to Adam on Idolatry (seriously, the guy is just awesome LOL and so well-spoken), it's clear he gets it. He understands the business end of it too and knows what he has to do to succeed. He also wants to have an album with different styles on it. The guy just knows what he is doing and even if his album sales end up sucking (which I doubt), his concert sales will be huge because people will want to come out to see what he does. I do have concerns about what will happen after his initial success because what happens after his debut on the music scene is pretty much what will determine how long-term his career is. If he continues to grow and evolve, then I think he will do fantastic. If he doesn't, I can see him fading after a period of time. I don't expect that though because he gets it and, as King pointed out, he did improve during the competition. I hated him at the start too, especially after Ring of Fire. From that point on, he grew on me more and more and I truly believe he will be the one from this season who ends up doing what Daughtry did. The guy will be huge. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I don't think I am LOL. I think it's a good sign that he has made sure he is very involved in making his album. Cook did that and look what happened. You just can't give the execs any leeway, not even an inch. I think Adam, so far, is doing everything right.

I also see what Angie is saying. I'm sure Kris feels horrible that pretty much the bulk of his support is Danny fans, anti-Adam fans, VFTW, and people who just wanted to send a message to the judges and Idol.. Now. I'm one of those people who wanted to send a message. Only difference is I liked Adam LOL. I voted more for Kris because I felt he needed it more. I feel Alison needed it too but that is a whole other subject. I felt like it was the best for everyone that Kris won and it's true. Adam was going to be fine anyway and Kris, moreso then Cook (who I felt needed to win for exposure reasons so he didn't get lost in the shuffle of people like him), needed this because I do think he won't see huge success. I expect maybe a platinum album but I don't think he is going to shatter anything. I think he will be a little lower then Cook. That's fine. The idea is to make an impact, no matter how big or small. Any impact is good. He could end up doing better and surprising everyone. It really all depends. We have no idea how big the group of people who actually likes him is. As I said, we know he has a fanbase. His text voting count was always underestimated this season so that proves that. However, as I mentioned above, there were so many other people who voted not because they liked him but for other reasons and there is no limit on the voting so you have no idea how things will translate over to album sales. The good thing is he is doing well on ITunes. That's something.

As for the whole underdog debate, he was the underdog. Everyone was but Danny and Adam. How anyone could watch this season and not say that boggles my mind. As I said, Kara was pretty good and Randy got better at the end but Simon and Paula were just horrible. How else do you explain shit like Paula's finals proclamations before reaching top 5? Or how about top 4 week when Adam performed first and Simon said nothing would match his performance and he went on to mention Adam and compare everyone to Adam all night long. That same night he completely threw Kris under the bus twice (as did every judge but Kara) and hung Kris out to dry on that duet by saying Danny was better. How about Danny's infamous scream? On earlier seasons of Idol, the judges would've thrashed the hell out of him but they all but gave him a pass, much like they did Lil early on until they realized she sucked so they gave up on her. Or, how about Adam going last top 5 week, top 4 week (on the duet with Alison), and top 3 week? That has NEVER happened on Idol. That was absurd and I'm an Adam fan. The pimping was out of control and I just hope they learned their lesson and improvements are made next year. Maybe they need Nigel Lythgoe back because it wasn't even this bad last year. Seriously, maybe Kris and Alison were never bashed but what they got was worse...pointless drivel, reverse psychology, and comments that never truly reflected their performance except once in a blue moon. Kris got favorable comments top 3 night and finale night because after top 4 week when they threw him under the bus to try to get him out and he still stayed they clearly felt being nice may hurt further mobilization of people voting for him. Even those comments were backhanded. Listen to those top 3 and finale comments for Kris. With the exception of one or two they all read like "Thanks for coming. You should be proud of making it this far. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out." I just hope it's better next year.

The clips and interviews are so cool. Reading all those reactions...Kris seems so shocked and I love hearing about his and Adam's friendship and how he felt about the season and his interactions with the mentors, Queen, etc. I know the guy is boring at times but he's just a normal guy. This isn't Personality Idol. I hope the show goes back to being about singing next year and not personalities. Usually, it does the following year after a year focused moreso on personality but who knows. It's just so funny that in a year with so many personalities, someone like Kris wins LOL. Oh the irony!

As for the studio versions of "No Boundaries," I liked both. Definitely something that will be hard to sing live until it's tweaked a bit. Kris' has a nice soft feel to it while Adam's has that great rock vibe. I prefer Adam's a bit more but the song still seems right up Gokey's alley to me.

Speaking of Gokey, I watched the Larry King stuff (very interesting and fun to watch) and watched Gokey's Idolatry interview and have read and seen various other things and after starting to like him a bit again I'm back to just hating him. During the Larry King stuff, he just sat there and when answering questions, he always comes off condescending to me. He either comes off like he is talking down to you or very shifty. I guess I should just give it up and stop analyzing him, which I will now, but his demeanor has just been ugh.

As for Simon, I'm happy he is pissed because I want the pimping to stop. There will always be bias and pimping but if it ever again gets to the level it did this year (even if it's someone I like being pimped), I think the show will just begin to tank. They are lucky it didn't this year. Granted, the ratings were not as good as the past few years and drew in Fantasia finale numbers (which I expected) but they still did well. I do think Simon and Ryan have a point. Kris is not the best singer and this is a singing a competition. Again, happy he won and I like him but it's the truth. I do think he can do better then Ruben but I think that may be it. As I said, I expect Kris to be a level below David Cook.

I really do wish they had showed Kris' audition before. That really kind of set up what was to come with Simon bashing his humility. Same goes for Alison. He did the same thing with her early on during her audition. I had forgotten he had been a sing off to get to top 36 too. His run is remarkable. He got no attention at all early on, got thrown under the bus top 5 week and top 4 week, and had everything thrown at him by the show and judges and still won. That is truly something to marvel at considering past history on Idol. I had also forgotten Kris was in that group during Hollywood week. Maybe that was because all the attention was on others...ugh.

I find the Gene Simmons comment absurd. The media made a big deal out of KISS saying they loved Adam and then the next day Gene takes a dig at him? Maybe the guy was drunk or something because he's praising him and bashing him. What the hell?!

As for Clay, whatever. The guy has admitted only watching Idol once a year for the sets so his opinion holds no merit. I've always believed it's hard to have an informed opinion about something you don't watch at least regularly because you can catch something or someone on a bad week. I mean, say you tune in to one week of Idol and see Kris have a bad performance and that is all you watch. Then your opinion of Kris won't be good because you only watched one performance. Clay watching the finale and then going off about Adam is just ridiculous. He's entitled but watch the whole season and then get back to me. Even Adam haters have given him props on a performance here or there. I'm glad Clay apologized though because the timing of his comments (right after Adam lost, which was pointless because it seemed like Clay was just beating a dead horse and trying to get attention and I actually like Clay LOL) was just so off. Adan's reaction to it was funny. It was a little dig at Clay being desperate for attention but he asked for it.

Oh, and Perez is an idiot. All I will say about that. Whenever someone doesn't eat up his shit or do what he wants, he's through with them. Guy needs to get a life. Both him and Clay are morons and both seem so pathetically jealous it's annoying. Who the fuck cares about his sexuality? I give Adam alot of credit for handling this as he has. He's not hiding nothing. The pictures are out there. He's not shy about things. I do think he is sort of teasing the media now because it's keeping the buzz with him but that's smart. If they are going to keep screwing with you, he should screw with them just to let him know he isn't going to let the media or the celebrity world rule his life. The way I see it if he can use this to help expose him more, go right ahead. He didn't create it. The media did. In this day and age, is it really necessary for someone to have to actually say they are gay? What difference does it make? Gotta love how that headline acts like Adam said his sexuality is why he lost yet he doesn't say that at all. Again, more proof he's not shying away from it. If he was hiding it, he would've acted like there was no issue with his sexuality instead of saying it probably played a role or addressing the question like there is an issue. Why does it have to be spelled out to people? So annoying.

Glad Alison got signed to a deal. i just hope she gets the right exposure and treatment because I feel she can be big, without a doubt.

Kris has been awesome in all his interviews so far. He kind of reminds me of Archuleta only not annoying and doesn't go around in circles when he talks. Kris may be short in his answers but he can handle the media. Love him. Kris and Adam are just awesome together and their genuine fondness for each other is so nice to see. I say that alot but it's true. I love it. I do think Kris would do well going the Keith Urban route. Keith is not 100% country. He is very much a crossover genre artist. Kris can just stay more on the pop side but he needs to do what is best. Sticking with what he did on "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Heartless" should be fine for him. I hope they at least let him use one or two of the songs he wrote. If not, I hope he is at least involved in the creative process. He needs to be. Every Idol needs to do what Cook did and make sure they are involved or else you end up like Ruben or Taylor Hicks LOL. I am glad Kris mentioned he felt he deserved to win too. He needs to give himself some credit. God knows the judges didn't most of the time. It has to be weird for him having his first single being something he didn't write or that his little personal resonance for him but the studio versions came out great. They just need more tweaking for the live version.

As for bikini girl, girl needs to get a life. She waited all that time to react. Clearly, she was worried her 15 minutes of fame were up LOL. I love Kara. As I said, she is the only judge I feel is not agenda-driven anymore and she really is talented. "No Boundaries" was not that bad and her voice really impressed and it impresses me more in those Youtube clips. I wonder why she doesn't continue singing. She has the voice.

I also want to comment on Adam's KISS performance outfit. I take it that was the surprise outfit rumored for the finale and I loved it. Very original. He fit right in with KISS, which leads me to my point about Adam's future. Adam can handle KISS-type stuff but Queen is more his thing. However, I think it may be better that he go out on his own first and identify himself. He needs to be established beyond Idol. I think he would fit right in with Queen. He proved that on the finale. I just think he needs to do what is right for him right now. He should do something with Queen on his album though. I want an duet with Alison on his album too LOL. The fact that bands like KISS and Queen are so high on him proves the point that the guy has what it takes and that if all goes well, he will be big. Just listening to his interviews, it shows what an appreciation he has for music and I really wish the show would allow more time to actually sit down and interview the contestants. Not just get to know their background but get their thoughts on the competition, music, and what not. After this year, I hope they stop with all the "get to know the contestant's background" crap. We can learn that as we go. Focus on the music first and foremost. Everything else is secondary.

On another note, that whole thing with Simon's ex Terri is just sad. I hope the person that attacked her is put away. I guess that is just another reason to quit it with some of the judge's foolishness that wastes time. I should say, though, that it's so disturbing how people take things like that on TV and take them seriously and act them out on innocent people. It happens so often now and it's scary. Glad Simon was there for her as he said he was on Ryan's show.

That Simon interview is intense. Wow...I figured he had a dark personality but his life seems pretty sad. Definitely fits the "money doesn't buy happiness" label. It's nice what he did for Terri and how he is still close with her and his other exes.

That is cute how Kris is singing "Mad World" while Adam is singing that in that video LOL. I just hate how some people are being though. I went on Youtube and saw the video following the Tuesday Fina Two performance show where Adam gave Kris a kiss. It was just one of those friendly, "bromance" sort of kisses and some of the comments were just appalling Seriously, you would think people would be more mature then that.

Now to the voting topic...I knew something was weird when Ryan never mentioned the voting margin. I mean, last year Cook sort of blew out Archie but they still mentioned the margin. Even if it was a blowout this year, which it seems like it surprisingly was, I still wonder why they did not mention it. The only reason I have is that the show loved Adam so much that they didn't want to say that Kris blew him out because then it can cause people to think maybe it wasn't all about Gokey's votes or whatever. Basically, you would have people thinking maybe Adam was overrated and maybe homophobia played a role and I think Idol does not want that kind of controversy around it. It likes controversy but only the kind that isn't so horrible and unfair. On Larry King, Ryan had Paula on with Adam and Kris and he asked all of them if they knew the margin and they all said they didn't. Paula simply said that it had to be close, like less then a million, much like the top 3 difference. It seems the margin was more then that and Ryan acted stupid saying he never bothered to ask. Come on now. That man always mentioned the voting margin and we are supposed to believe he didn't this time? Again, it's more American Idol damage control in their aftermath of Kris winning. They need to imply the voting was close to save face a little bit.

The voting crap with AT&T sounds like a whole bunch of nothing. Honestly, there are voting complaints every year. Hell, their are voting complaints every week. It's a whole lot of nothing. Every year we hear about these sort of things with AT&T and texting and all that. So what if they had a party and gave out phones or whatever. All of that sounds perfectly fair. Adam's fans could've done the same. His fanbase seemed much more rabid then Kris' so I would be shocked if they didn't. I'm sure they did something. The whole thing with Kris is only getting attention because he won and everyone is shocked. I'm shocked by the media coverage on this because most Idol fans were not that shocked. I think many came into the top 2 week thinking Kris could do it. There was plenty of reason to support that notion. The media was just like they were last year...they bought into whatever shit the judges said, even if a judge like Simon was clearly sprouting reverse psychology. Last year they rode the "Archie has it in the bag" wave and this year they did the same with Adam right up until the last minute.

The other thing is if the voting margin is as big as reported...does any of this voting scandal crap make a difference? I wouldn't think so. It's reminding of Ruben/Clay all over again in so many ways only the margin seems to be clearly alot more then the voting margin that year. Nevertheless, as I said, this happens every year. Some of the runner-ups fans cry foul and start picking apart everything, even if it's shit they, themselves, did to help their favorite. The only reason you didn't hear about any of this shit the past two seasons is because Jordin blew Blake, who didn't even belong in the finale, out of the water and Cook was so well-liked and Archie's fans were mostly tweens who were obviously upset but weren't going to start some sort of movement as a result of their outrage. This happens every year, especially if it's close and both members of the final two are talented.

Kris won it, fair and square. There is no way to fix the system unless you do what DWTS's does and have the judge's score the performances and have their score count for a percentage but we all know that would be a mistake. You just hope people vote on performance and talent but that almost always never happens. The show is lucky it usually gets it right or at least gets one person in at the end that should be there.

Paxton made a good point about the assumption that every Gokey fan went for Kris and how that was pretty much the difference. I'm pretty sure many of Gokey's fans went for Kris, not necessarily because of liking Kris but because they just hated Adam. The Adam and Danny fans clashed all year and I also think that there was a degree of revenge in some cases where some felt that if Danny couldn't win, neither could Adam. It sounds childish but I got that sense when reading around other sites and boards. I don't think Gokey's votes going to Kris was responsible for the whole margin of victory though. As I said, Kris' fans were strong all year. We don't know how vast his fanbase is but his text support was always underestimated so he must have a strong fanbase. Plus, you have VFTW involved and all the people who just were anti-Adam and anti-pimping so there were many factors that played a role in the way voting went. Implying it was just all about Gokey is just ridiculous. It's remarkable how much Arkansas supported him. True, people probably voted and voted repeatedly there but still. That alone tells you it wasn't all about the Gokey vote.

I also think whoever pointed out how the Southerner always wins American Idol made a fantastic point. If a Southerner is in the finale, they usually win. I don't think one has lost yet in the finale.

Anyway, before I conclude my last insanely long post in this thread for this season of Idol, I just want to say that I hope Kris gets the respect he deserves. It burns me to see that interview with Ryan and Simon where they rank him before Taylor but around or below Ruben. I do not expect him to be huge but short-changing him so early in the game is wrong. Then again, he's been short-changed the whole season so that may mean he will prove them and everyone else wrong again. I hope he does. I just wish they would show more support since he is the winner and he's no Taylor Hicks. I just get this feeling with Adam, Danny, and Alison all apparently signed to, Idol is just going to screw Kris over like they did Taylor and work on the others. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with Alison too, just like the show did all year. My hope is maybe Adam will help out given he is so close with Kris and Alison. We know Adam is well-liked so maybe if they aren't treated right he can help. I just hope they all get the proper shot at success that they deserve. They are all winners in my book. This season started out a bit lackluster and it had many mistakes but it left us with the most talented top 5 ever and provided a great upset and finale along with many great moments. I wish all the Idols great success. I'm going to be seeing them on Tour in September so that should be fun.

Anyway, it has been a fun year chatting about the show and it definitely was a year for heated debate LOL. That's good though. Keeps it interesting. I only hope the show fixes the problems it has (which are well documented) for next year. I think I will start a thread soon about what the show needs to do to get better for next year but, for right now, I will just try to digest this past season. I will miss the show but it's summer, my favorite season, so I'll get by. I wish I could've been here throughout the finale and all so I wouldn't have to catch up like this with long posts but that's life LOL.

Ok...end of long-ass posts  .
