See that is what I think is missing from this season. Someone who really can change something and make it their own. What I have seen alot so far this season are people who sing well, but more are doing an impersonation or pick a song that fits exactly into their style. Adam is going to try and do this, but it is just going to come off as too much of a show tune. At least with Cook he took songs that you knew one way and completely changed it around with still having aspects of the type of artist he is. There are quite a few double standards when it comes to the judges, especially with their favorites. |

Ryan Seacrest confirmed next week's theme on his radio show today... Michael Jackson songs. This show really loves to make their talent look foolish, LoL. Also, it sounds like there's another surprise coming. From last night's Top 13 Party... Producer Ken Warwick on what's ahead: "There is a big surprise coming. You'll never guess what it is, but it's something that rears its head every season and it's huge." |

EOnline The celebrities el-oh-vee-ee love this season of American Idol! First Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony text Jorge Nunez. Then Kayne West and Kelly Clarkson sign on to perform on the March 11 show. (Hell to the yay on that, btw!) And now Miley Cyrus is eyeing 16-year-old red-headed firecracker Allison Iraheta, and Ellen Degeneres has given Jorge a lucky penny. "I heard that Miley Cyrus wants to take me on tour with her. It's crazy. I'm like, 'Oh my God. Yes! Take me now!'" Allison told us at the American Idol Top 13 (13!?! We're still reeling over that!) party at Area nightclub in Los Angeles last night, after Miley told mtv.com, "I'll make [Allison] an American Idol!" Miley has the power to make someone an American Idol? That's so cool! Meanwhile, the Ellen Degeneres interview crew handed Jorge Nunez a lucky penny that came straight from the talk show host. "Here it is!" he proudly showed us. "Very cool, huh?" Very cool indeed. Read on to find out what other cool surprises we uncovered about season eight at last night's party, straight from the horses' mouths... Producer Ken Warwick on what's ahead: "There is a big surprise coming. You'll never guess what it is, but it's something that rears its head every season and it's huge." Gulp. William Hung? Judge Kara DioGuardi on how she didn't even know they were picking 13: "I'm always the last to know anything. It was down to the end of the show, I didn't know [they were doing four wild cards]...There wasn't even talk about it! We were unanimous on Megan. We were unanimous on Matt. And I think Anoop too...I can't pick a favorite now, but I really like Matt. I think Adam has something. I really like Lil. And, I like Allison." Anoop Desai, 21, Chapel Hill, N.C., on his biggest fear (a fear we all share): "I'm fearful that [the styling team is] going to make my hair ridiculous like Sanjaya. No faux hawk!" Matt Giraud, 23, Kalamazoo, Mich., on the gloved one: "I think that Michael Jackson theme night is coming up, so I'm excited about that." In the meantime, he's steering clear of these here Internets, after getting slammed for his Coldplay rendition: "It hurt extra worse because I felt like I disappointed people. I'm not Googling myself anymore. Brooke White told me not to, so I'm not!" Adam Lambert, 26, Los Angeles, on not giving a crap: "I didn't take that advice to not Google yourself. I did. I saw it all [referring to some photos of him kissing another guy]. My thought? Oh well! It is what it is. It doesn't matter to me." Adam also told us that he hopes to sing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" on the show. "The way I do it, it doesn't sound karaoke." Scott MacIntyre, 23, Scottsdale, Ariz., on tickling the ivories: "I'm so excited this next week to see them roll a grand piano onstage. I can't wait to play again. I think I can use it whenever I ask for it. It's where my heart is." Michael Sarver, 27, Jasper, Texas, on his biggest competition: "There is something about Danny Gokey when he sings. I was really touched by him. If I lost my wife like he did, I don't know that I could get up the next day. I have a lot of admiration for him." Danny Gokey, 28, Milwaukee, Wisc., on what he's all about: "I get my strength from my faith in God. My goal is to be a Christian who does mainstream music. I want my music to reach out to the multitudes. I want to bring entertainment, but I want to bring encouragement and hope at the same time." Alexis Grace, 21, Memphis, Tenn., on her belting out some big ones: "I'm dying to belt out some Dusty Springfield, 'Son of a Preacher Man.' I'd also like to do some James Brown, 'Papa's Got a Brand New Bag' and 'It's a Man's World.' I like the old classics." The pink-tipped cutie also got a present from her family recently: "They sent me a laptop so I can iChat with my fiancé and daughter. I don't plan to use it to Google myself though!" [Brooke White strikes again.] Jasmine Murray, 16, Starkville, Miss., on her dream tour date: "Justin Timberlake. He's my favorite male artist." Jorge Nunez, 20, Puerto Rico, on the accent dilemma: "When they first talked to me about my accent, I worked with a vocal coach on it. But I'm glad they changed their minds. I'm happy that I can be true to myself. I'm really fearful, though, of country night!" Megan Joy Corkrey, 22, Sandy, Utah, on how she'll mark the occasion: "I'm thinking of getting a new tattoo to celebrate. Maybe a music note." Allison Iraheta, 16, Los Angeles, on what she really, really, really wants (and it's not to zigga-zig-ahh!) "I really, really, really want to do 'Barracuda' by Heart. It's a hard song to sing, but I'm up for it." Lil Rounds, 23, Memphis, Tenn., on mo' rounds: "Just keep Lil Rounds around a little while longer, and I promise you will see some transformations stylewise. You'll enjoy it. Musically, I like a mix of the older songs with contemporary like Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle." Kris Allen, 23, Conway, Ark., on being called a "heartthrob": "I'm not uncomfortable with it. It's flattering, but I'm married. We got married five months ago." Something tells us that won't stop the girls from screaming. |

OKay, so I just watched the Wild Card show.. It was okay.. nothing spectacular.. I loved Matt and Jasmine. Didn't really love Anoop or Ricky, even though, coming into the show, I loved them. Tatiana was kinda meh.. she was bad in lower register... and she's clearly insane. Megan was weird.. didn't like her.. neither did I like Jesse.. they have good voices, but didn't like their performances.. Von was okay.. kinda iffy in the beginning.. But I'm happy Jasmine, Anoop and Matt are through.. Out of the top 13, I liked almost everyone at some point, so I'm sure I'll be entertained.. I just don't really like Michael, Megan or Adam that much.. But Megan was good during auditions, so she can still surprise me. |

Not really surprised by that. Pretty much knew that would happen simply because of logistics in finishing the show when they want to. Now if that is their big "surprise" that will be controversal. That isn't much of one. |

It was obvious a double elimination was coming. But they should have had it later in the season. |

VoteForTheWorst Posted Image Us Weekly has an article about Danny Gokey using his wife's death to further his singing career, and Danny's local Fox station had to comment. Jumping in to comment is Jamar Rogers, who says that Danny mentioning his wife's death "was a means to get America to take notice, but he would never ever ever ever use Sophie's passing to get further." You just contradicted yourself in that sentence. He clearly is using this to get further and it's disgusting. So on Tuesday, will Danny stop mentioning Sophia, or will he sing "She's Out Of My Life" on a makeshift tombstone? Then again, there's the possibility of singing "Thriller" with backup zombie dancers wearing Sophia's head. And still that wouldn't be as tacky as using your dead wife to get a record deal. |

^^^^ Oh, I don't like that. I don't get that from him at all. His wife died 4 weeks before the audition, how could he not mention it? I would think it would still be pretty raw, even now. I don't know, I could be wrong, but I really don't think he is using her death to get him further, I think maybe her death is driving him, and therefore on his mind a lot, but I don't think it is fair to villify him for it. MJsBigBlog Vote For Your 13th Idol at… Hot Horny Girls? Jim, who runs the Idol prediction site was testing the Idol phone numbers for the show on Tuesday, and he discovered something interesting: "One thing I noticed this weekend while I was testing the phone numbers... We all know the phone numbers to vote: 1-866-436-5701 through 5712. Usually if you call these numbers outside a voting window they ring busy. However… this year there are 13 contestants. It appears that American Idol does not own 1-866-436-5713 (or 1-866-436-5700 for that matter). I’d advise you not to call either number as the content is not rated G. This raises the question - what the heck are they going to do for the 13th contestant? Has anything heard anything? New numbers? New voting system entirely? A lone non-contiguous number? Are they frantically trying to buy the number? Am I just dialing wrong?" What will the producers do? Order up a whole new set of phone numbers for this year? Or use an odd number for that last number that will only be used for one week anyway? Using an off-number would not only be really confusing, but would would result in confused people mistakenly calling the porno line -- including lots of kids. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Many people are speculating that there isn't a 13th number set up because one person will be given immunity and there won't be any need for thirteen numbers. Perhaps that's the upcoming surprise -- weekly immunity. That 13th number leads to a porno chat line, and invites you to punch in your credit card numbers to chat with “hot horny girls.” |

The phone number thing is hilarious, I wonder what they will do or if they will give immunity to someone based on whom the judges thought was best of the night. |

I don't like the idea of immunity being given to who the judges think is the best each night. I have no problem with them making the decision if it gets to the bottom 2 because at least we said those are the two we didn't like. This season there too many the judges love that I just don't get so they could be giving immunity to who they think is the best. Just think that gives them too much power. Although I don't know how they could give immunity if they only have 12 phone numbers. They usually give the phone numbers out during the performances. If all of sudden you don't need 5707 and you can give that to number 13 because number 7 is getting immunity, that is only going to call confusion. I am assuming they have this plan figured out for 13, but I get the feeling this is going to be a mess. I am already starting to lose interest in this season. |

TV Guide Idol Voting System Faces a Sex-Rated Problem Unless American Idol producers come up with a quick fix, viewers calling in to cast their vote Tuesday night run the risk of getting a racy earful — and we don't mean of a Beyoncé cover. As has served them fine in the past, Idol has locked up a dozen extensions of the toll-free number 1-866-IDOLS — namely, suffixes 01 through 12. But because this season features a Top 13 versus 12, Idol will need an extra number to call into. Problem is, 1-866-IDOLS-13 (as well as 1-866-IDOLS-00) directs the caller to a phone-sex service. And based on the prerecorded come-on, significantly more than standard messages rates apply, Ryan. Unless Idol figures out a solution and gets the word out — and fast and loud — callers to 1-866-IDOLS-13 will be invited to spend $1.99 to $3.99 per minute to get "nasty talk" with "real local students, housewives and working girls from all over the country." And worse, they might not be able to cast their vote for Jorge's eyebrows. Will Idol scramble to buy out the XXX-rated suffixes from teleservice provider Intimate Encounters, Inc.? Or will the show's producers toss aside their long-standing digits and scrape together 13 other numbers to dial? The Idol publicity team has yet to respond to TVGuide.com's request for comment. |

From EOnline: Are we going to see major makeovers with the American Idol contestants now that we're in the top 13? Yes. In fact, American Idol stylist Miles Siggins tells us that there will be "two major makeovers." Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver. "You should've seen how long it took us to persuade Anoop to wear that Polo shirt last Thursday," Miles tells us. "It was very adventurous for him. And Michael needs some help too. I'm going to help them look the best they can." Oil rigger Michael tells us he's up for the challenge: "I've been shopping a lot lately and trying to take my style more seriously. I was never a shopper before." Meanwhile, Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy has some big plans in store for rocker Adam Lambert: "My goal is to tone Adam's makeup down. Instead of people paying attention to his song, they're like, 'Oh my God. He has so much bronzer on.' I'm going to help him with that." Yay for Wet Wipes! |
