You make a point about the difference between Opry and a normal country week. I'm a country fan so I know they are dealing with a select group, which is dumb IMO. I love the Opry but the idea was to keep the themes broad this year after all the limitations last year on themes (like only singing Dolly Parton songs, etc). I guess maybe they felt by doing this they keep it more in the realm of some really popular songs and artists instead of a mix of a bit obscure and popular. For some reason, though, I feel "Sin Wagon" has been performed by someone individually. I could be wrong and perhaps that is why I proposed it as a song choice. I know the Dixie Chicks sang it but I feel like someone else did too but I could be wrong. Your absolutely right about the judges save. I mean, even looking back at who they brought back for consideration for the wild card show they had an idea in mind before the contestants even performed once on the performance shows. Basically, they had an idea who they would brink back after the Hollywood rounds should someone they liked or felt made an impression wasn't voted through by the fans. What you mentioned about Paula annoys me though. At least Simon, Kara, and Randy pretended like they were discussing and even watched the performance. I saw the three of them talking while Jasmine and Jorge performed and, for me, that makes a difference because even if it's BS like we know it is and they have no intention of keeping the person, at least that person may feel better thinking the judges actually considered keeping them. Paula doing what she did flew in the face of that. I sometimes think she does that to make whoever is singing feel good, like their music is reaching someone. It's ok to have fun but her dancing in the middle of performances is why she never has anything of her own to say when it comes time for judging performances. I watched a clip of Terri Seymour covering Idol and Randy and Simon were jokingly making fun of Kara for talking too much. While she does do that at times, Paula is the reason why things take forever. She screws around while people are singing instead of taking things in and thinking about what to say so that when she is called on, she has nothing and struggles with what to say. She rips off the other judges' comments and puts her spin on them, adding who usual kind words. That is why she had no idea what to say when they began changing the order of the judge's commentary during the show. When she has to go first, she has nothing to say. One time a few weeks ago she deferred to Simon and tried to get him to go first. It's funny because last year she claimed she took notes on the performances during rehearsal and during the actual performance but claimed Simon sometimes distracted her. She bitched about that this past Fall, saying she felt like she was being portrayed like an idiot when she was just being distracted. It's her own fault and I wish she would make an effort to improve herself. I think they will use the save on Scott, Alison, or Matt. Any chance of using it on Anoop flew out the window last week. I think if it was down to around 6 or 7 they would use it on Scott just to be nice and they would use it on Matt around that point too. I think they would save Alison because she has the vocals and she is young. The show likes young and tries to cater to young. Plus, the show has not had a rock chick go far in a long time. Alison could go far because she is more versatile. I'm not saying they would choose to save her over Danny or Lil but I do think she would end up being saved over Adam. Remember the decision to save someone has to be unanimous and Simon may have liked Adam last week but he hated him the week before. I think if we are around the top 8 or so, Alison would be saved. As I said before, I think the show is trying to ensure the best are left in the final month of this competition. I know DialIdol had Alison low but it is known for not being too accurate this early on. Not to say it's way off but the more contestants there is, especially early on in the top 12, the less accurate it seems to be. Just look at the results early on last year. Cook was at the middle of the pack. Syesha was last and I don't believe she was in the bottom two last year the first week. Once it gets down to around 8 or 9, the accuracy pretty much becomes dead on with an exception here and there. There is also text votes too and Alison is Hispanic I believe so Jorge and her just may have split the vote last week so she may get complete Hispanic support now. I had a hard time buying her being that low anyway, especially since she got more attention by this show to this point then many people in the top 12. I mean, if her look didn't go over well, she would not have made it through in the first place. It's not like the look is any different now then a few weeks ago. I did think for awhile that her comment in response to Simon saying she needs to lighten up (she said something like "It's not like I'm cutting or something") may have hurt her but I doubt it now because there wasn't a whole lot, if anything, made of that comment. |

I totally disagree that they would save Allison over Adam. I think there are only a few people that they will even consider using that on and Adam is one of them. |

Oh, I'm not saying they wouldn't save him. I think it depends when he is in danger. The nearer it gets to the top 5, I can see them not saving him. I don't think Simon is as on board with him as the others nor do I think Randy is either and the decision has to be unanimous to save someone. At that point, I think they may just let him go. I think they much prefer Danny or Lil then him but that is just based on how I perceive their reactions. We'll see. |

Just started watching on the DVR. This whole judges introduction is so cheesy. Nothing but an ego booster. |

I agree..... :roflol: @ Randy Travis's description of Adam...... Adam reminds me of one of the contestants from that Rock Star show that was on CBS. Poor Johnny Cash song..... Boooooo to Randy Jackson for even daring to compare Adam to Nine Inch Nails...... :flipoff: |

Adam Lambert reminds me of Liza Minnelli, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you feel about Liza Minnelli. ROTFLMAO! I had company at the at the door. What did Randy T. say? Edited by ilovemydays, Mar 17 2009, 07:51 PM.

So far, better than expected! MICHAEL I expected him to do well, but he was just kinda meh. I still don't like him, and I'm probably not going to. Tonight fit him well, but he's just not doing it for me. At all. ALLISON I thought she was very good, in the moment, but after a while, I forget about her, and that's sad because she's great. Very underrated. KRIS By far my favorite so far. Love him. His look, his voice ... another dark horse and very very underrated. LIL Not the best choice for her. Good in the end, but overall just kind of ... eh. Oh well. Better luck next week. ADAM Odd. Just ODD. I agree with Simon. It was indulgent and horrific. I hate the other three kissing his behind. I think they're just afraid to criticize a supposed fan favorite. EH. I'll post later on the second half. |

Just saw him. WOW!! :applause: Have to agree with Simon, he could be a dark horse that could sneak in there. I liked him last week but LOVED him this week! Maybe this season is going to start peaking my interest again. |

I like it! I'm glad it seems to be a regular thing now. I think it was Simon's idea and I've seen others like it too. It makes things classy and more professional IMO. Sure it's a ego boost but that makes it fun. That is the kind of stuff that starts the kind of judge banter I love, just as long as the banter stays at the beginning of the show. I do keep worrying that Ryan will fall down those steps though. They remind me of the steps from the Nokia Theater last year. Adam was just awful. Glad Simon called him out. Indulgent garbage is about right. I can't believe he did that to a Johnny Cash song and Randy Travis' reaction was telling too. I will comment more later but this is what I meant earlier about Adam. The judge's save would have to be unanimous so it would all depend on the situation. I don't think he is a lock for a judge's save at all. Not with Simon there. |

The image just doesn't match between the two. But she really needs to stop singing song with the mic in the stand. It is like her feet are cemented on the ground and she doesn't know what to do. Vocal was better this week, but I still don't get what they love about her. |

I thought Anoop was the best of the night!! I really liked Kris and Matt too. Michael, Allison, Alexis, and Megan were all pretty bad. The others just ok. I didn't really like what Adam did. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I really wish he would sing softer like he can to show what he can really do. It wasn't his best tonight, but he is still one of my favorites for sure. |

Simon Cowell pisses me off more and more. He does NOT know what good country music is nor what great rock and roll, especially current rock is. My picks. (1) ADAM LAMBERT ------ By far the best again. He's got more stage presence, marketabilty and talent than any IDOL this far in the competition, and IMHO is the most talented man ever in the competition, along with Chris Daughtry and David Cook, with possibly Lambert ahead of those. (2) ANOOP DESAI----- what a difference a week can make. He was my pick to go home last week, and now he's second best. I agree with Simon and change my mind about him not deserving the 13th spot. (3) MATT GIRAUD-----gets better and better. I agree reminds me of Justin Timberlake with Michael Bublé thrown in. (4) A 3-way tie for 4th ALEXIS DAVIS ----- I thought her "Jolene" was awesome and Simon's stupid and an idiot for saying she sounded like Dolly on it. ALLISON IRAHETA-----this 16 year old knows her stuff. Still rock, but country rock, remind me and my son of Tanya Tucker. KRIS ALLEN-----awesome rendtion of the Bob Dylan/Garth classic "To Make You Feel My Love", surprised noone mentioned it being a Bob Dylan song. (7) MEGAN JOY-----best song pick by far for her since her audition, Simon was right about the dress, didn't suit Megan's quirkiness. Made the song her own. (8) LIL ROUNDS------very disappointed in her, poor song choice. I hope she's safe though. BOTTOM 3 (9) DANNY GOKEY----- a like Danny, but I thought his "Jesus Take the Wheel" was very amaturish (is that a word, lol), very Christian/Gospel everyday singer-sounding, BY far his worst performance. (10) MICHAEL SARVER-----very, very much a copycat version of Garth's, very karaoke (11) SCOTT MACINTYRE----my pick to go home. He's boring as dirt and sings everything the same tune and is picking horrible choices for himself. Sad, that one of my former top 5 men is this bad. I hope Michael or Scott go home. They deserve to be sent home. Whichever one doesn't this week, should go home next week. They are quite a bit worse than the rest imho. If Anoop can keep doing as good as this week, he may be one to watch--- but if he goest back to the way he was the past 2 weeks, then he might go soon too. |

I thought Kris Allen was PHENOMENAL. Easily the most fully realized performance of the night. Adam brought his usual drama, but overall I liked what he did with the song. His voice is off the charts IMO. The more I hear Alison's song, the more I dig her performance. It totally grew on me and I thought she nailed it. Danny was just okay- for me, it was easily his weakest performance to date. Anoop is not someone I get excited about, and while it was better than last week (which isn't saying much), it still fell flat for me. Matt was pretty good, but not as great as they made him out to me. I agree with Simon on Michael Sarver- didn't understand a word he said. Alexis Grace was forgettable and Scott MacIntyre was just same old, same ole. Judging from tonight's performances only, this is how I would rank them: 1. Kris 2. Alison 3. Adam 4. Matt 5. Lil 6. Megan 7. Danny 8. Michael 9. Alexis 10. Anoop 11. Scott |

Adam "ghost of Suzanne Pleshette" Lambert completely butchered Ring of Fire. I am so sick of golden boy Danny Gokey and all the pimping. Lil Rounds - Loved her! Perfect song choice Megan - Even with the flu she was good Matt Giraud - best guy of the night |
