I thought Alexis sounded horrible tonight. She was better last night. I am so glad they didn't use the save on her (I didn't really think they were going to anyway though).

I didn't like Carrie's hair or dress at all. I love that song though!

I dunno if I really see them saving Adam. Simon sure wouldn't be all for it. I'm sure it was Final Five and it WAS Adam they MIGHT just to use the save, but I don't see Adam as safe as people think he is. Simon's the key to it. It has to be unanimous.
I agree and have been saying that all along.

He hasn't liked two of his three performances thus far. He felt his first one had moments of brilliance and moments of awfulness. He liked him last week. He hated him this week. I think he likes him to an extent but he also liked Alexis and look what happened. It all depends on where the show is, who is left, etc. The only sure bet is Danny IMO, especially after seeing Alexis go down tonight. They hyped her and the judge's loved her and they let her go.

I think Adam's performance last night hurt him alot with Simon and many fans.

This season is going to be very unpredictable. I think you have so many that can win it now, especially after last night, that the judge's factored that in and decided not to use it. I have a feeling they will be tempted alot to use it and I will be pissed if they use it on Adam of all people because of last night. Anyone but him. Plus, I think by letting Alexis, one of the show's faces, go they've established that the ones we think may be saved if in that position may not be. They upped the suspense and drama because now you just never know who they will use it on. It's not so predictable and a part of me thinks Alexis thought for sure she would be saved because Simon hinted at potentially using it on her or Micheal. In a way, that just twisted the knife a bit for her because I think she felt she would be safe and a bit in shock when she wasn't, which is why maybe she didn't seem so emotional at first. The judges also made themselves look good in a way because it proves they won't save everyone of their faces. It all depends, which is why Adam is no slam dunk for a save. Tonight proved that.

What I just said brings me to another point. I do think the judge's and show are doing a better job right now in how they handle the competition. Alexis was pimped but she went home. The judge's aren't throwing anyone under the bus even if they are good just to pimp faves like last year. Matt, who gets barely any attention, got the pimp slot last night. It's an improvement over last year already in regards to competitive balance.

The loss of Alexis just makes me worry now about what we will have left at the end. I don't want just all guys and I want some likable people left. I have issues with Lil and Danny, despite their talent, and I hate Adam. Alexis had rooting value for me. Ugh.

And why is the President preempting the show next week? I like Obama but I'm getting sick of the primetime talks LOL.

Simon said it was kind of unanimous so I wonder who wasn't on board with saving her?
Probably Kara. She was constantly wetting her panties over how "dirty" Alexis was, LoL.

Wouldn't that mean she WAS on board?

Probably was Paula. I know she is nice and compliments everyone but no doubt she always leans toward the men on the show and she can't get enough of Danny or Adam so she probably wanted to save the save for them.

Paula definitely likes the guys more than the girls. I rarely see her get excited when a girl gets ready to perform. She always smiles and gets all googly and crap when a guy is performing. And they ALWAYS cut to her when a guy performs, lol. Well, maybe not always, but I notice it a lot.

I think Randy Travis would look a lot better if he gained a few pounds, him being so thin makes his face look really hollow and adds to that creepy look. I still like him though and his reaction to Adam last night in that video where he talked to each person was just priceless.

It looked like Carrie Underwood's hair was just pinned under the way Kristan Alfonso used to wear hers.

I like Brad Paisley, he can be funny at times and seems to have a good personality. He looked kinda nervous to me though.

This season it seems like they are overselling the show in a way they haven't done previously, and the ratings seem to indicate that viewers aren't that happy with most of the changes they've made.

There's something about Danny I don't like besides the religion and etc pimping, he gives me the creeps and the heebie jeebies.

So far I like Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, Allison Iraheta, Lil Rounds, Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver.

I'm in between on Megan though.

I disagree. I thought she sang the song better and she did right by singing to the judge's. That is the idea.

They forced the image on her. That was never her and she had to do it for them to like her. She's never been comfortable and that has been the issue. She only did it to carry favor with the judge's. Last night she tried to bring more of herself into things and they didn't like her as much. I thought the judge's were wrong to do what they did to her and I hate that they made her change who she was because many people ended up calling her a phony when she's not, at least not by choice. I wish she had told the judge's to go to tell and had just been herself but I can understand why she did it because she wanted them to like her and thought it was for the best. I feel bad for her and it sucks because I feel like one of the most likable ones left. She had a little girl and seemed to genuinely nice. She helped Scott around stage and seemed so caring. She did get a bit full of herself last night but it happens to everyone. Some can get lost in all the glitz and glamour. She's human.

I think they would've ended up sticking with the ten. In other words, whoever got cut first next week was not on tour. The second elimination would be on tour.
I didn't mind that she was performing more for the judges. I think what I felt more uncomfortable for her. Like I said it came off that she was begging and pledding with them to keep her. It was kind of sad in a way and uncomfortable to watch.

Completely agree too about the image being forced and didn't agree with the judges (especially Kara) pushing it on her. I think it was her ultimate downfall because we never knew who the real Alexis is. I know I was one that felt this was all the act with the short skirts, pink hair, etc to fit that dirty image. I probably would have liked her more if she stuck to her guns and stayed true to herself. Definitely got lost in the glitz and glamour.

It definitely was uncomfortable but the other two did it last week too. They are going to come off like they are begging in that situation LOL. I wish she had just been who she was but I think I would've done the same thing if I were her. I think she felt she had to do it to be noticed. I think the fact that it was forced on her made me like her even more because I felt bad for her.

I hope your right about it being pinned LOL.

Brad did look nervous but he always comes off a little like that for me.

I agree. They are overselling it but I don't think the ratings falling has to do with that. It's other factors.

Danny still bothers me too. He comes off smug at times and while I know Archie did the same thing last year with singing message and inspirational songs, Danny sometimes disturbs me because I almost feel like I'm being preached too. I've seen people mention the word "cultish" when describing him and I can see that. He's talented but I still have concerns with him.

KMan is right though. Paula really likes the guys and they do tend to cut to her when a guy is singing. She does tend to dance for whoever though when it's an uptempo song.

One other thing I noticed...does anyone notice how Kara tosses out songs SHE wrote or helped write when suggesting songs to contestants? Last night, she suggested "Last Name" and "Before She Cheats," both Carrie Underwood songs and I believe Kara at least helped write one of them. I've noticed other instances where she's done this too. I don't like it because it comes off the same way as Randy does when he mentions past things he worked on or affiliations he had with people. I can understand why she did it being as they are probably the first ideas that come to mind but it bothers me a bit.

I also watched the results show back and it appeared like the contestants were lip syncing the group performance. I've read in some other places that this happened last week too. Maybe they finally caught on that the contestants don't always sing together or sing well together?

I also watched Alexis's last performance back where she sung for survival and it was terrible. I thought it was better at first but I was in my room watching and the sound quality is not the best. In the living room where the sound quality is better, it was awful. She totally oversang it and it was worse then last night. The song was just wrong for her I think and that's funny because I liked the song choice for her at first. I also now think the whole save thing is cruel. I mean, sure it adds drama and it proves if the person can handle pressure but it's just too much and too cruel. There she is trying to sing for survival and they are all huddled together talking and not even listening to the whole thing. Not to mention if the performance didn't work the first time, what makes you think it will work the second if the song choice was bad? It's hard to just base it on that last performance but I would think they didn't. I'm beginning to think this thing is too messy. She seemed stunned and in shock and seemed to fall apart during the goodbye video. Horrible. It would've been nice for her to at least make the tour. I feel like this was a big mistake. Many people on other boards are very upset about her leaving and about the save and it's impact.

I am really glad Alexis is gone. Her performance tonight to save herself was AWFUL!!!!!! Although, I understand the nerves and pressure at that point must be off the charts.

I just didn't like her attitude or her demeanor at all most of the time.

Last night was a weird night. I don't think anyone really stood out as being bad - except Lambert - and I already knew he wasn't leaving.

I agree with you Phoenix about Kara. I wouldn't know off the top of my head exactly what songs she has written. But I was suspecting of it when she would mention different songs. She does at times come off as a know-it-all and "look at all I have done". I liked her at first, but now I am starting to be turned off by her.

Last night was the first time I ever thought they were lip-syncing the group performance. I am sure they have been doing it for years, but it was pretty obvious last night. But I had never noticed it before yet last night it was like a neon sign.

Damn - I really wanted to see Alexis stay - she was one of the better singers.

I heard on the radio this morning that this was done purposefully bc of the Final 4 rumors --- they wanted to prove that it all isn't fixed by getting one of those named 4 out of the show.

If so - I hate it.

I doubt that's true. DialIdol was showing Alexis in dead last place.

I don't think Alexis deserved final four. I was even shocked when the judges loved her so much in the semi's....

I think she just got too ahead of herself and thought she was better than she was. She could have been saved last night, if she didn't blow it. I don't think it's rigged.

I was surprised that Alexis was eliminated last night. I would have preferred Michael to go, but I guess I am ok with her leaving.
I don't get why so many havee issues with Danny, I don't think he is pushing anything or being preachy at all. I think he is just choosing songs that he can sing from his heart. I don't know, he seems sincere to me.
Whatever.
Anyway, I am looking forward to Motown next week!! That should be 1000x better than Opry week!

I agree with you Aimees76. I think his very sincere. I think his very good and his singing the sings that appeal to him just like everyone else is. My favorite thou is Kris and Matt G right now. I loved Anoop alot this week. I downloaded Kris, Matt G, Allison, Anoop, and Danny's, songs this week. They all sound really great. I also downloaded Carrie and Randy Travis song to. I just love my Carrie so much. Didn't enjoy her hair thou. Can't wait until Next week.

I don't get an Archuleta vibe from Gokey at all. I despised everything about David Archuleta.

I am really starting to love Gokey. He hasn't mentioned his wife in a few weeks so I feel like he has stopped playing that card, and his performance on country night was so good.

I think that the show promotes some contestants better than others and favors some more or less (in things like rehearsal time, clothing, hair, song selection, judging to an extent).

I don't think Danny is preachy at all. I think that since he is a Music Director for a Church people just project the preachy title onto him. Apparently Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, Kris Allen, Scott MacIntyre, Matt Giraud and Lil Rounds either have a strong affiliation with the church or are worship leaders in their churches. Matt, Kris, Michael and Danny are all worship leaders at their churches. Alot of the AI contestants have started out singing in their churches. Danny just happens to be a Music Director for a couple of churches that his his job so it defines him a bit more.
