That lady sure can't stand Danny. I have the site bookmarked and watch it ever week and I always forget the lady's host name. But she talks bad about Danny all the time. And I love him. I think his not the best but his good. I love my Kris and Matt G the best out of the guy's. And I like Allison the best for the girls that are left. Even thou I do think Lil can sing very well, she just isn't my favorite one. |

This is the deal Danny is the front runner, he has by far the best vocals and actually he has the best personality too. People diss him because he is the competition! The problem with Danny is that he is the best and if he has an off week well the bigger you are the harder you fall. Another problem with Danny is he has already been labled the "Christian artist" but truth be told Matt is the one who has already released two Christian CD's. But we don't ever hear or read about that. Another problem with Danny is he is kind of similar to David Cook and Chris Daughtry in his vocals perhaps too similar and he may not be as marketable. I do know one thing for sure that he has a career in the Christian music arena - he could be the next big artist doing that type of thing! |

So I'm watching "The Tonight Show" right now, and Jay just asked Simon whether or not the judges have to make a unanimous decision when deciding to save someone with the veto power. Simon's response was that he takes the opinions of Randy, Kara and Paula into consideration, but he gets the final say. He's essentially the one making the decision on whether not to save someone. |

I'm pleased with the top 10. Alexis was weakest in my opinion so no shock there except I am a little surprised that Michael is in the top 10. For me, there is only Adam. He is talent personified and versatility personified, besides all his other assets. Danny is straight up a good singer, not great or different or anything, just a good singer. I love Allison, too, but from this point it seems like Lil will make her way to the top three, |

I just saw that too. If that is truly the case (it could just be Simon screwing around or his ego talking), then they need to correct themselves because on the show they've been saying it MUST be unanimous. Simon has the most clout and when he says stuff things always seem to get done. He bitches in the off season and changes are made the following season. He bitched on the first performance show and the next performance show basically responded to all the issues he had. The show is essentially his baby so it would not surprise me if he did have last say. He is usually the one who can pretty much see in someone whether they can win or not (Carrie Underwood for example). My thinking is they all have a say but his opinion matters more because he is the one who never seems to pander to the absurd and to the Jason Castros and David Arculetas. He doesn't always seem to go along with whatever the producers and other judges pimp. I think if it were up to Paula she would save anyone and Kara and Randy would save some who are not worth saving. Simon is one who would only save someone he thought he could win. Listening to that recording of Adam....he's a bit better but still it's too over the top. I'm not saying he isn't talented but I don't think this is his sort of thing. People will either love him or hate him and I think once his core fanbase finds something else to obsess over, his fame will be gone. Just look at Blake Lewis or Jason Castro. Adam's situation IMO is very much like theirs. You either loved them or hated them and you barely hear anything of them now. That Idolatry clip is funny. I will have to look for that every week. I think that same person used to write a column. I used to read it every week. I still feel bad for Alexis and I figured she was upset about Randy forgetting her name. Mistakes happen but at this point he should know who the hell she is, especially since a few weeks ago he praised her. Somehow I can buy that he has forgotten considering it's Randy. I'm glad Alexis is handling it well and it sucks she didn't get a goodbye dinner. They've never been too busy to do it before. I wonder if it has something to do with the show trying to get the Idols out of LA and to Detroit to prepare for this week before Obama closed LAX. I heard they ended up getting delayed anyway because of Obama arriving at LAX to get to The Tonight Show but I do think they tried to get them out to Detroit faster then they normally would send the contestants out. Is Megan still sick? I hope not. She looked better On Wednesday but hearing she had to miss rehearsals is concerning. I figured if anyone caught the flu it would be Scott since he sat right next to her. If Micheal did catch it, hopefully he is doing well. I was thinking along the same lines as King though about Micheal, especially after what he said about his daughter. I actually think Micheal wants to go home after hearing that from his little girl. Someone made the point earlier in the thread about how it's not always about being the best technical singer and I have to agree and disagree. Sure, it can't be just limited to singing but that is what matters first and foremost. One of the things I've hated in recent seasons is how the show is getting away from that. Sure, there have been years where they felt they had to spice things up so they put personality and uniqueness before vocals as far as selections go but singing was still the most important driving force at play. This season it clearly hasn't and while the last few weeks have given me hope of this season not going the way of seasons 3 and 5, I'm still concerned because even the vocally superb singers I have a hard time rooting for. Just look at last year. You had someone like David Cook who was a guy you could root for. You had Carly Smithson and Micheal Johns, who were rootable. Those are just a few examples. My point is you rooted for them based on talent and performance. The basic foundation of the show was still at play and you didn't feel like you were being bombarded with all this crap about their home life and so on. This year is playing too much off sympathy and sob stories. It's annoying. All I need to know about these people is that they can sing and provide something special in that regard. I don't have to be reminded every week that so and so has a kid or that they work at a oil rig or whatever. Give a little background early on and maybe a reminder here and there and let's focus on the music. We can learn more later when the person wins or becomes successful. Why bother feeding us so much info when there is only one winner and only 2-3 of the people will actually still be remembered after the season is over. It's just a waste of time. Last year, when David Cook sang "Always Be My Baby" and began crying after it with his sick brother in the audience, no one knew why he was crying or what the deal was and that was a good thing. There was no exploitation and everything was focused on the performance. If David wanted to say something, fine but, otherwise, there is no need. We learn about these people through their performance and we get other little tidbits along the way. I'm still enjoying the show but I hope we get a return to the focus on being on singing and performances. If not this year, next year. I know some wanted the show to focus more on getting to know these people but I think the show has gone far too overboard with the response and needs to just go back to the way things were. I'm not bothered by the fact that so many people have kids in the competition. For all we know, more people then we know in past seasons had kids but the show just didn't shove the point down our throats like they have this season. It's really not an issue unless they remind you constantly and then it just bugs the hell out of you. I find myself even beginning to dislike the people I once rooted for. I started the season rooting for Danny and now he rubs me the wrong way. Same with Lil Rounds. I loved Micheal and Alexis but last week I found myself bothered by the way they acted and they began to rub me the wrong way. It's similar to season 5 in that alot of these people come off a bit too egoistical and cold. They all seem close but I find myself struggling with liking any of them consistently, with the exception of Alison. As for the list of Idols, I fully expect Kelly and Carrie to be battling it out for years to come. I think Carrie will have more longevity because of being a Country artist and because I can see Kelly fading out of the spotlight at some point. I love her but I've always had concerns that she is straining her vocals. I went and saw her live twice and both times I swear her voice was about to give out. I'm looking forward to Idol this week with the Motown stuff. I'm curious to see if Anoop and Kris can bring it again this week and I hope Alison does something BIG to ensure her safety. |

I think this season too Simon is an executive producer, so that gives him a little bit more power as well. Also this show started with his record label being the one that signs the winning idol so that gives him a bit more pull as well because he has to be the one backing the winner. But then again Simon's ego is bigger than his brain so he could be just saying he has the final vote. I know for me in getting to know the contestants, I just wanted to know who the heck they were. Seems like the last two seasons we hardly saw people before they made it to the top 24 that I found myself saying "who is that". I remember David Cooks audition (probably because he sang my favorite Bon Jovi song) and thought this is someone I want to see. Saw him for a second during Hollywood week and then not again until top 24. I remember seeing Michael Johns and Archuletta, but not Cook. To get to know them we need to see more of the personality, more of the behind the scenes stuff along with more actual performances. During auditions and Hollywood week we don't need to see the backstories of their life at home. I always hate that during the auditions when they introduce you to someone walking into the audition room then we get this interveiw with them at home before they sing. It is the dead give away they are going to the next round. Save that stuff for the top 24. |

I do think I am going to have to go into the other room when Adam sings this week. Maybe he won't bother me as much then. |

Some of the song' seem ok but most am not sure about. I hope that if the rumor's are true by Kris doesn't mess up on his song choose. And didn't David A sing the song that they say Danny is singing. And David H sang the song last year that they say Adam is going to sing right. I love the song choice that they said Scott is going to sing and I feel like his going to really mess up the song. |

Danny is a much improved Taylor Hicks, but if he wins, he'll probably be another Taylor Hicks. I don't think he has much marketability, and is old-timey. I like him, but he's by far not the best in the bunch. Adam Lambert, Lil Rounds, Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen, & Matt Giruad are all better than him, and if Anoop Desai keeps doing as good as he did with last week's "Always on My Mind", then he is as well. IMHO, Alexis Grace has more potential than Danny. Surely he's not the front-runner. If so, then I hope he's a future shocker axee and the judges do not save him. |

This may sound funny but the more I see Allison the more she looks like she could be Bethany Joy Lenz's little sister. There are times when she kinda looks a bit like Kelly Clarkson too. |

I think Danny is marketable but he is the most marketable in the Christian Music market that is for sure. I suspect he will be huge in that market regardless if he wins or not. The bottom line is that he is the best singer, he has the best vocals he just needs to pick the right songs and he should be one of the last three left standing. Top five IMO are Danny, Lil, Matt, Chris and Adam. Danny, Lil, Matt and Chris all could be big Christian Artist. Adam could be an Alternative Rock or Heavy Metal Rocker I guess or he could just do some freaky theatre stuff or teenage slasher movies. Anoop and Allison are the wild cards. The voters just don't seem to like girl rockers and Anoop well sometimes he brings it and sometimes he doesn't. Scott, Michael and Megan Joy I think will be the next three to go and I doubt they will get big careers out of this - Megan perhaps but her stuff maybe current - but it is trendy so it goes as fast as it comes. I see that too. I remember right around Hollywood week she was looking ALOT like Kelly. I think their personalities are similar too. I can honestly see that song list being true. I can see pretty much everyone making those sort of selections. I just hope Alison has a "wow" moment. She's consistent but I think she needs to do something big to kind of get the momentum going for her. I would like to think her fanbase got scared by her bottom 3 appearance last week but I do think she needs a big performance tonight. I feel confident that she will be safe for awhile now, though. I think some of the men will get picked off first before another girl and Megan really should be the next girl out. As difficult as this season has been for me at times, I still missed the show last night. My whole weekly routine is screwed up. I like Obama but I'm kind of getting sick of all these primetime speeches. I appreciate keeping us in the loop but he said nothing special last night that warranted an hour in primetime. Maybe NBC should have Obama do a weekly thing for them since this seems to be a recurring thing with Obama. Then NBC could have a major hit since Obama = ratings. I wonder who the mentor will be tonight? I just read on another forum a list of the most awkward mentor appearances. There's been a ton LOL. I also read that Jennifer Hudson is returning soon and I would think it will be tomorrow night on the results show. She seems to suit the "Motown" theme and they said each Wednesday would feature one guest that was a former Idol. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Mar 25 2009, 04:15 PM.

I know! Hilarious! I love Simon but he's always interrupting her. It's hard enough for her to get her words out so his being a distraction does not help. Having said that, Paula sometimes interrupts him and Randy too, calling them wrong. They all have a right to their opinion and are paid to give it. Maybe Simon should've given her the crayons and coloring book too since she acts like a child at times too with their childish disagreements and antics. which I guess make them who they are and add fun to the show. I am wondering...where the hell did she get the crayons and coloring book? Simon asked that same question. It's almost like she planned this. Paula is more alert tonight and she is making sense. She is not struggling too much tonight. Of course it helps she isn't up and dancing, which means she can just focus on just the performance. |
