^^ Been done with Danny for weeks. But he has been pimped so much he is going to be in the finals. But I would kill for an upset in the finale like Cook last year had over Archuletta. Even if Adam (who I really don't care for) is in the top 2 with him, I would send in a ton of votes for Adam just to defeat Danny. |

I just can't stand Danny's whole "I want to inspire the world with my amazing voice and my amazing story" garbage. It also creeps me out that he's the member of a religious cult. It also bugs me that if he ever gets a recording contract, it's going to be full of Christian rock ballads and a cheesy "I Can Only Imagine" cover. He's like Taylor Hicks meets the anti-Christ. |

Was that really an upset though? I mean, sure if you watched the finale and the way the judges called it a Archie win in a landslide but I tend to think it was a ruse on Simon's end to push David Cook for the win. Otherwise, throughout most of season 7, both Davids were equally pimped. Cook was really pimped after Micheal Johns left. To me, Danny is Archie this year with all his message and "I'm already a star so I'm going to seek to inspire you" crap and Adam is coming off more like Cook (changes things up every week, makes songs his own) only he is a bit too much to take most of the time and is too overdramatic. Both Danny and Adam are being pimped about as much as Archie and Cook were. The only difference is this year they are pimping Lil too and I think they are pimping Alison more now because they lost Alexis, one of their chosen ones, who I believe they didn't save because of all the rumors of the show being fixed or whatever. They made her their sacrificial lamb. Otherwise, they would've saved her. That is the big difference. They aren't just keeping it to two people like last year. They aren't throwing some of the others under the bus like they did people like Micheal and Carly last year. I think they learned their lesson when they got stuck with a top 5 that lacked depth and had 3 people there that had no shot in hell of winning. There purpose is clearly to be left with a good solid top 4 or 5 so that there is some suspense over who may get to the finale. That way even if Danny and Adam make it, it doesn't come off as blatant who their favorites were like it did last year even though most of us can see through this and know better. As for Kris, those pictures don't bother me. Hell, I've seen people do shit like that and post pics online. My college-aged nephew and his friends are always doing stupid and weird stuff, especially while drunk. It happens. Adam's pictures were a bit more provocative. As for Danny, the guy has talent but I think his cocky attitude, which has gradually became more and more apparent, has really hurt him more then anything else. That and the sense he gives you that he's won already. I mean, dancing with the background dancers last week and pretty much not even bothering to look at the judges when they talk to you (big sign of disrespect and you could tell he was tuning them out) makes him look pretty damn bad, along with many of the other things you all have mentioned (especially the Taylor Hicks similarities). I may not like Adam much but at least he doesn't come off that bad. I'm over him too and dislike him more then I did Archie. At least he seemed like a nice kid and alot of his issues stemmed from his father and Idol itself. Danny is doing all this shit himself, really. I hate to think this but I have to wonder if the most recent tragedy in his life will be used by either him or the show to pimp him even more. Just watch him go last tonight so they can make it some sort of emotional, tear-jerking climax to the evening. Ugh. I can only hope he gets knocked out. What we need is the save to be used or for him to get picked off around the top 4 or so to make sure he can't be saved. Do we know for sure what the theme is? The rumored song choices that someone posted before in this thread sound plausible for Adam and Matt. I kind of hope it is ITunes Top 100. We could use a break from some of the more restricted themes and I'm up for something more contemporary. If the theme is what is rumored, I so want Alison to sing Kelly's 'My Life Would Suck Without You." Her similarities in voice, look, and personality to Kelly Clarkson have been noted and I think she would rock the song. She would just have to make sure she doesn't go too copycat with it but, otherwise, that would be good for her. My concern is there is a whole lot of Miley Cyrus on that ITunes list LOL but I have heard that one Miley Cyrus song "The Climb" on the radio and it's not that bad. It actually is quite different then the usual teenybopper, Disney crap that she usually puts out and she sings it well. It's a country song but it's actually really pretty and I can actually see Danny taking on that song, especially this week given everything, because it's an inspirational song that deals with trials and tribulations and he's shown he is not opposed to singing songs that have been performed by female artists. I can't wait to see David Cook this week either and look forward to seeing his video but I'm annoyed that they are taping so much of the performances ahead now. Jennifer Hudson taped her performance last week after the performance show and it seems David's was taped before too. The group performances should not be pre-taped either. It just takes away from the experience IMO. I also have to say that was a good opinion piece that Kenny posted. They are so right that it's about popularity. The good thing is that most of the time they end up with someone winning who can sing and has talent so you can say they get it right and maintain their promise that it's a singing competition. I always laugh at how hypocritical the judges are by pushing people who they say don't have the best voices in the competition and having these seasons every now and then where they push these people just to make things more interesting and then they turn around at the end of the season and trash these people, saying it's a singing competition. It's like they like these people early on but when it comes down to it, they want the real talent as far as singing goes and throw a fit when someone really talented goes home and someone who is more popular and maybe has more personality stays. It just makes me shake my head because they are the reason why these people are in the competition. If you want to avoid this, just put through the people who have the most talent so that when people do start voting on who is in the competition, there won't be an issue. |

Oh I agree with that as well. I have no doubt Simon said what he did on the final performances to kick up a few more votes for Cook. I was extra happy with it simply because everyone crowned Archuletta from week 1. Also the evil side of me couldn't help but laugh at the little tweenies getting crushed along with the reason you don't like Danny this year. |

I think I remember another year that it was Itunes top 100, but they could go to ANY of the Itunes top 100 lists. Different genres have their own top 100. So there is a country top 100, a pop top 100, even a dance top 100. If this is the case the idols could go to the type of music they perform most like and sing a song. I would rather it be limited to the overall top 100 because there is a mixture of songs and it would really force them to find something and make it work for them. I also think they are pretaping the group performances to have easy transitions for Scott. They can stop the tape, move people around the stage and start again without worrying about getting Scott where they want them to be. They have never done things like this before and I really have to wonder if this is maybe the case. Idol contestants are not known for their great dance moves, but they could walk around the stage. I don't know the deal with the idol returns being pretaped. I do know that both David Cook and Jennifer Hudson are touring right now (as well as other idols as well). So maybe it was the only way they could be accomodated to get them on the show. I am sure David is going to be around for the final show where the previous winner usually is present for. Hoping Daughtry makes an appearance too. I know their new album is suppose to be coming out early summer and they will need to promote it. |

According to JoesPlace, Miley Cyrus is pre-taping a performance at tonight's dress rehearsal. The performance will probably be aired on a future show. Gag me. |

Cubsgirl, I agree. The whole thing with the group performances probably is Scott-related. They probably saw how awkward he was and decided to go with taped performances once they got to the top 12. You also made a good point about Cook and Hudson being on tour. That could be the reason why because the other special guest performances have not been pre-taped. It's only those two and now the one Kenny just posted about pertaining to Miley Cyrus. My guess is we will see Miley's performance next week to promote the Hannah Montana movie. I don't think Miley is as horrible as some of the other Disney singers but that isn't saying much. Her music is gradually getting better it seems. I know this because I am subject to Disney Channel stars all the time due to my tween aged niece and nephew watching all the time. That is why I prefer to spend more time with my college aged niece and nephew LOL. In all seriousness, it seems like she is breaking away from Disney and teenybopper fluff because some of the songs she is putting out now are much more serious and better written. They have more of a country vibe. I don't really like her but if she continues to improve a bit I can probably at least tolerate her. |

Only a few of the idols have been able to perform during the dress rehearsal because there's been some sort of malfunction with the stage, LoL. However, a few songs have been leaked... Allison - "Don't Speak" Danny - "What Hurts the Most" Anoop - "Caught Up" Megan - Bob Marley/Lauryn Hill song (probably "Turn Your Lights Down Low" posted below) |

Considering that Danny's grandfather just died, I can't help but gag at the idea of everyone giving him sympathy votes for singing "What Hurts The Most." Of course, there's still the dead wife angle... Also, I predict that Megan will go home this week. That Lauryn Hill/Bob Marley song has absolutely no melody whatsoever. Meanwhile, I'm ready to hear Allison sing something softer, slower and a bit more melodic. |

Thanks for those, Kenny. Wonder what the deal with the stage was LOL. LOVE Alison's choice. I agree about Danny's choice. I just knew he would pick something like that and we would get some sort of emotional moment. Just watch. This will be just like when David Cook sang "Always Be My Baby" the week his sick brother came to see the show and the judges heaped praise on him and gave him a standing ovation. The only difference is David did not exploit his situation and Danny probably will. Ugh. I dread his performance. Matt's sounds pretty good. I'm wondering what the actual theme is though because it seems like they didn't just pick current top 100 songs. I also have a feeling Adam's performance could be awful based on his song choice. |

Did something die on Allison's head? I mean, really. That looks just terrible! LoL. She doesn't look good tonight at all. Did Lambert get a haircut? It kind of looked that way, but I only got a quick glimpse, so... |

I'm not crazy about this performance from Anoop. He does so much better with melodic songs that really show off his vocals. "Caught Up" by Usher is just... eh, it doesn't mesh well wish his voice. However, his swagger on stage is enjoyable. His vocals were kind of flat though, and I wish he had danced a bit rather than just walking around. |

OMG, Anoop's getting a little mouthy with Kara, LoL. I love it! She's telling him to sing songs that define him as an artist and he's like, "I'm an R&B artist. This DOES define me." Unfortunately for Anoop, the songs that define him don't really sound that great with his voice. I'm guessing this will cause him to lose some votes... |

Sure will. Talking back to the judges, particularly Simon, is the kiss of death on this show. Sometimes early on you can get away with it but not when your down to 9. The fact that Anoop performed first didn't do him any favors either. After two weeks of being on the Anoop train, I'm back off it. Everytime he does these uptempo, high energy songs he comes off arrogant and egotistical. I agree with the judges. The song wasn't right for him. I think it didn't suit his performance skills and he did nothing original with it. He also needs to listen because Kara and the judges did not have a problem with him taking an R&B song. It was about him putting his own spin on it and being original. That was more or less Kara's point as well as the point of the other judges so Anoop wasn't even getting huffy over the right shit LOL. |

No, Megan. Just no. I don't like this song. Too boring, not enough melody, and her head bobbing is weird, LoL. This does her voice no favors. |
