I don't watch auditions so I am probably done, But I just watched Tuesday's and wanted to comment on Kara. LOL. I loved that tattooed, orange haired girl, Emily, was it? She is my Carly Smithson of this season.
They said on TMZ that she has to wear some sort of alcohol monitoring bracelet because she tends to drink and drive, LoL.

Here's Mason's twin singing "Your Joy," LoL.

He shows alot more control over his vocals in this song than he did during his audition, IMO. He sounds much better when he's not so over the top and pretending we're all deaf.

TV Week

In an exclusive interview with TV Week, Mike Darnell, president of alternative entertainment for FOX revealed a couple more surprises in store for Idol viewers this season:

- “There’s a big surprise coming when we get to the top 12, but I can’t reveal it right now,” says Darnell. He says the contestants will be surprised, too. "It is something that will be talked about and is something I think that has some element of controversy surrounding it. Some controversies will pop out. But this is something that we sort of felt like, here's one set of things we're doing, we're going to wait and give you the other set when we get to the final 12."

- The kids are going to live in a house this season. (They lived in a mansion seasons 1-3.) “Plus we’ll be doing more behind-the-scenes stuff with the kids, and they’re going to live in a house, so if anything – if sparks fly there, we’ll show some of that. We’re hoping to get more of who they are – more of the reality version, to be honest with you. It makes the show tick,” says Darnell.

- Kelly Clarkson will appear on the show in the next couple of weeks.

- Clarkson apparently won't be the only big star to grace Idol's eighth season, as Darnell said some talented musical mentors will also be featured. Darnell says musicians will have to be “ridiculously big” in order to be considered as mentors for the show.

It appears that the producers are bringing more reality elements to the show. Instead of being able to retreat back to private apartments when their long day is done, the cameras will be following the contestants back to a house, hoping to capture some shenanigans.

It seems like they are going back to the what they did in early seasons (wild card, living in a house, etc). These changes they are making are not really ones I think they needed. I have watched some of the American Idol rewind and I just think the show is so much better from around season 4 on (even though I think season 6 was a bit of a clunker). Why change the parts that aren't broken?

I still think the biggest change they should have made (since it sounds like we are going to find out they didn't) are the themes or mentor weeks. Here is a novel idea, each week the contestants can just pick a song to sing. A real artist is going to be able to pick a song and make it work from them. Why limit it to Beatles songs or Broadway musicals? Heck even let them sing song they have written themselves. Stuff like this would really make a performer have to sell themselves to the audience. So many of the singers we see most seasons are just really good singers. One thing that I wish they would do once when they had 6 guys and 6 girls was a duet week. Instead of the group numbers, have two of the singers pair up and perform together.

I only liked two people last night.

The first was the guy who was taking care of his mother due to her health issues (another sob story! LoL) and the other was Adam Lambert, the flamboyant emo looking kid. All the rest completely sucked and I couldn't believe most of them got through.

See, Kenny, that Adam Lambert dude... I liked how he sang, but I don't like the color of his voice.

This audition was just really bad. And the people that they let to Hollywood... wow... That guy passed only because of his kids... that funny laughing girl, Tatyana... wow... I mean, she has a voice, but I wouldn't have let her to Hollywood..

That last guy, Kai.. well I guess he was the best in this episode.. but overall, my fav is still the guy that his wife died...

It's just weird how they keep letting people through to Hollywood for stupid reasons, either because they beg enough, have a sob story or bring in their kids for sympathy. I'm like... WTF?!

Idol has lowered their standards this season, considerably. The sad part is that even with the low standards, only 12 people got through from San Francisco. Twelve! LoL Last night's show was terrible.

I am just watching Tuesday's episode at the moment. That first girl with the prom looking dress from Puerto Rico drove me up the wall. I wanted to reach through the television screen to stop that laugh. Some of these people they are sending through I do hope get ripped to shreds during Hollywood week.

Don't bother with Tuesday's episode. There's literally two decent singers. The rest were terrible... and not even funny terrible. Just boring. Skip to tonight's show, LoL. It's much better.

New episode tonight!

I think this is the last week of auditions... thank God. Promos are teasing that they'll show the premiere of Kelly Clarkson's new video ("My Life Would Suck Without You") on Wednesday's episode.

I just... I don't know... They don't show half of the people that make it to Hollywood. And that annoys me.

I wish they would at least show then people who make it to top 24.. at least most of them... I would like to see people in top 24 that I have watched all the way, since auditions. This way, top 24 might be full of people I have no idea who they are, because they didn't show more than half of those that pass to the next round.
