I know LOL. I thought it was funny when Ryan made mention of her screwup last week. Speaking of the word "artistry," I have a feeling I'm going to get sick of that word. The past two we've heard it ad naseum from Kara. It's almost as bad as her "I want to know who you are" shit earlier in the competition. There really was alot of celebrities there this week. Spade, Hamlin, Rinna and her kids...this is the first time this season we've seen alot of celebrities there. Then again, the camera shots have mostly been on Kris's life, Danny's family, and the judges so that may be why LOL. I thought Randy hugging Lil's little girl was cute and her other little girl was so cute with her shyness. I love how that little girl nodded when Ryan asked if she wanted to punch Randy. As cute it was, it bothered me a bit because it felt like what Idol did with Fantasia. They used her daughter and her hard life to play up sympathy and get votes and Lil is one of the show's "chosen ones' so I think the whole thing with the kids was deliberate since Lil has not been great the past few weeks. Kind of their way of trying to make sure she stays in. God, I hate when this show exploits things. I mean, Lil had tears in her eyes because of her performance so that alone would be enough to get some sympathy LOL. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Mar 31 2009, 08:34 PM.

I really wish Adam would go home, but I know it'll never happen. Listening to him sing is like visiting a hospital nursery full of hungry babies. |

VFTW is supporting both her and Scott, I believe. That is not a good sign for her leaving or Matt staying. |

Are you serious? I mean, what kids will actually be watching? If they just watched Idol, chances are they are voting right now LOL. I realize there is no teenybopper panderer in the competition like last year with Archuleta but I'm sure most kids and teens are either voting or not watching Fox or TV in general LOL. Having said that, even if they are watching, these kids and teens aren't stupid. They know more then people give them credit for and, if they don't, they will likely learn soon enough LOL. |

Anoop and Megan were both terrible. I hope Megan goes! I don't like her at all. I think they were a little rough on Matt. I didn't love it, but I liked it. |

I noticed that too. Very deliberate, very obvious. |

I agree. Her wig was horrible too. She looks better with her short hair. That was so cute when her daughter was hugging Randy though! |

Once again, Allison's way near the bottom. For whatever reason, she just isn't catching on with viewers and nobody's voting for her. It's weird, because she usually gets really good critiques from the judges and her performances are quite solid. As for Adam, I'm glad he's not #1, but I'm not too thrilled about Danny being #1 either, LoL. At this point, I feel like those two are pretty much locks for the finale, and everyone else is just biding their time. |

Well, last week Alison was near the top but she also performed last. That helped. The week before that Matt performed last and ended up near the top. Performance order has really become important. The thing I think that hurts some of these people, especially Alison, is that when they put them after Danny or Adam it seems people forget about them because they get wrapped up in Danny and Adam and reacting to them. I think this is very much like last year and season 5 where it seems you have one or two that are always near the top and the rest fluctuate every week. I also was reading an article today that made me wonder if DialIdol was right and Matt was not in the bottom 2 but they put him there to get more votes for him. Ryan never said he was in the bottom. He just never said he was safe. I've read many people suggesting that was a ploy and it just makes me wonder because we all know they manipulate and react to when they feel someone may not be doing so well or may be vulnerable. Just watching Lil I think I figured out what I don't like about her. She is like Syesha last year. She has this great voice, but I don't feel like she feels it which makes it hard for her to sell to the audience. There just isn't any emotion behind it when she sings. |

But usually, the person who gets the pimp spot will be #1 on DialIdol. Allison got the pimp spot and was only showing a #3 or #4 ranking on DialIdol, if I'm not mistaken. That's not good for a person who performs last, LoL. Then every other week, she's been pretty low as far as votes go. She was even in the Bottom 3 once, and this week she'll likely be in the Bottom 3 again. She's just not catching on with people for some reason. Either that, or people are just assuming she's safe and not voting, but if that was the case, Adam and Danny would be having the same issue. |

Even though he drives me crazy and I didn't care for his performance I can say one thing about Adam...at least he makes me interested to see what he is going to do. Even if at the end I am going WTF at the end of it, he makes me interested unlike the other chosen ones. But lord did I hate what he did. Although thought it was good that he gave props to the band. They don't ever get acknowledged. |

Danny and Kris were the only ones i think did well tonight. The rest were so so. Adam was a huge let down for me last week he was so good and tonight he went back to the theatrical screechy crap! |

I'm pretty sure Ryan said "this is the Bottom 2." I recall listening closely to see if he would make that specific distinction. |

I'll agree with that much. But it still annoys me the way the judges wet their panties over every single one of his performances, LoL. |

Overall I think the show sucked tonight. A lot of poor song choices. |

That doesn't mean much IMO. I've seen people go last and only end up as far as third, especially when you have two people as popular as Danny and Adam at the top and both were viewed as doing well that week. Alexis went last the first week and came in 4th. I remember in past seasons seeing the person who goes last sometimes ending up in the middle of the pack. It happens. Mostly, it's happened last season and this season and I recall it happening in season 5, especially with Katherine McPhee. I think that it shows is that no one really has a steady fanbase but Adam and Danny and maybe some of the others get lost in the shuffle with the fans who vote on who they like and who don't lean toward any one person. Lil seems to have a pretty decent fanbase too. It seems like we have a group of people who kind of floats from one contestant to another week to week. It's not just Alison. Matt has been up and down. Anoop has been up and down a little bit, Alexis went from top 4 to off the show in one week. Kris seems stable and seems to be gaining a bit. Danny and Adam (and maybe Lil) seem to be the only ones who can sustain a bad week. The others have to claw their way through and Kris looks like he could be finding a nice fanbase now too. I do think some of the core fans of these contestants are not dedicated voters or as active as some of the others. I think they think it will be ok, maybe because they feel the person they like could be saved. Who knows but I tend to think the situation is not just exclusive to Alison. |

Your right. I watched it back and he did. I just wonder why so many media outlets are making a big deal out of it. I read quite a few columns on it. Weird. All in all, the song choices were pretty bad. It always seems like things go bad when they go with broader themes like this. When they have more restricted themes, it seems the contestants make smarter choices. Maybe it's because they aren't drawn to stuff they like and are more drawn to things that actually work for their voice. Randy made the best point of the night to Megan. He said that just because someone likes a song, it doesn't mean it's right for them to sing. Great point (sometimes the judges make sense LOL). We have seen so many contestants to do that. They pick songs because they like it or they have a special meaning or message or they want to sing a song as a tribute to someone. You can't do that. You pick something that suits you. You pick something that you can sing well and put your own stamp on, as Simon said. Anoop made the statement that he wanted to pick something this week that he felt the audience could relate to, like he used to relate to people who sang as he watched on TV. That isn't a good idea. You can reach people by just picking the right song, singing it well, and making it yours in some way. Simple. These people need to remember they aren't really artists yet. They are trying to sell all of us on them as potential artists but they have won nothing yet and they need to stop acting like they have. The performance show each week is not their mind concerts and some of these people need to stop acting like it is. I got tired of hearing all this shit last year and it's getting tiresome again. |
