Next Week's Theme: Songs from the year they were born!

Paula Abdul tells the crew at the KISS Phoenix John Jay and Rich show that next week’s theme is “Songs from the Year They Were Born.”

Adam Lambert - January 29, 1982
Allison Iraheta - April 27, 1992
Anoop Desai - December 20, 1986
Danny Gokey - April 24, 1980
Kris Allen - June 21, 1985
Lil Rounds - November 14, 1984
Matt Giraud - May 11, 1985
Megan Corkrey - August 5, 1985
Scott MacIntyre - June 22, 1985
Paula is the only judge who ever seems to spill what the theme is.

I don't necessarily mind it because in the last few years they've done it we've seen some good nights come out of this but, as I said last night, the more broader the theme means we sometimes get nights like last night where they all pick shitty songs LOL. We'll see. They never used to do this theme but they started it in recent years and it seems like they will keep doing it because the songs usually are more familiar and current and that is what they are trying to focus on this season, unlike last year where outside of this theme and a few others the themes actually skewed a bit older. I think this pretty much took the places of 60's and/or 70's weeks because they used to do those weeks up until the past few years. I think they wanted to get more modern so they go with this, which is basically a glorified 80's week at this point. I also think they do it due to time constraints. They always seem to do these themes around the time the show starts getting cut down to around an hour. They don't need a mentor nor do they need to promote much. I can't wait to see what they all pick though because there are some great songs to choose from as it's basically an 80's week.

Thanks for the info on Kara, As I mentioned last night, I heard the person yell that at her and I figured it must have been someone who supported Megan. I knew something was up with Kara because she looked pissed off the rest of the show. I still like her but Simon was right...she has difficulty handling the audience and the live shows. She's also getting as long-winded as Paula. She needs to cut back on her comments and needs to understand the audience will boo. The audience should wait until the judges are done speaking but they won't and she just needs to deal with that and move on. Simon was right to tell her not to yell at the audience like she did last night when she suggested some of the audience come up and judge. She was very condescending to the audience. I had a feeling something like this would happen. She's not used to this and she seems a bit too sensitive. I was wondering if something happened during the commercials. I was thinking maybe she was just upset since Simon sort of yelled at her and him and Paula just seemed to ignore her (I saw her making faces and whispering into Randy's ear) and that maybe she also wanted to calm down the rest of the night. I guess it was more then that.

I think what Anoop did got her going and she just lost her temper. Still, she comes off horrible stomping over to Megan's brother and then stomping off like that. He's entitled to his opinion, although I don't remember anyone ever yelling something out at a judge like that, at least not so clearly that you can hear it. Maybe Megan sucked so much the audience was quiet enough to hear it but it's never happened like this before, at least not to my knowledge. The guy was right though...Kara keeps saying the same shit. She's grating on me too. She started off with the "I want to know who you are as an artist" shit and then now we get the "This is artistry" or "We need to see artistry" shit week in and week out. That and the whole "Your a packaged artist" shit. She does sound like a broken record and she is starting to stick out now amongst the original three judges, who know how to handle the environment and the show. Paula kind of made Kara look bad too last night because she actually seemed like she prepared and had some good points to make about the contestants. She didn't like everyone and she was critical at times and I've noticed she's had a few nights like this this year, moreso then she's had in the past few years, which tells me Kara is forcing her to elevate her game a bit. I also feel like Kara is alienating people. She sometimes talks down to the contestants and gives off a egotistical vibe. Plus, as we saw last night, the way she handles the audience and way she makes her points alienates people. I think she is turning many off to her and many already disliked her already.

I am interested in seeing what happens tonight because I have a feeling Ryan will mention the whole thing with Kara and the audience and Kara and Anoop.

I like the way they do the opening. Instead of the corny shit with Ryan hyping the night, they show a nice montage combined with the performances and the judge's comments. That builds suspense better then Ryan ever could.

I knew they would mention the Kara drama. She handled it well and I hope she learned from this. She made some great points. She is trying to help and just do her job. Randy and Paula made some very good points, some of which they also made last night as well, and I love how Simon was careful to say who should be worried and not necessarily who will go home since that would give away who they would use the save on or not if he said who should go home. Good stuff.

I guess all the bitching about the lip synching worked because I don't think they did that this week. Actually, this group performance was easily the best this year, The voices all blended well and there was no awkwardness, even from Scott. I just wish they had Randy playing guitar since he was part of journey. That would've been nice.

The Ford video sucked. Worse yet. They just keep getting worse and worse.

I love how even Idol's filler is better then DWTS. That video about what the contestants do during the week was interesting. I love how Megan was even doing her sway dance in that video LOL. They look like they have a blast and the impersonations were fantastic. I love how Matt and Alison totally ragged on Danny LOL. That was hilarious and they were pretty damn accurate with the way he sings and acts during the performance. Anoop's impersonation was not that good though. Very funny stuff. You can tell they get along well, which is a good thing. We don't need groups like season 3 and 5 where there was some coldness and tension. It is pretty cruel how they all have fun and are all happy and then Ryan tells them all to get ready...here come the results. Talk about a shift in mood LOL.

So, they are doing the groups of three thing? I knew they would do this shit the minute he got more the one person up at once. As they go along, they always split them in groups like this. I guarantee he will be flip-flopping people around too since we know some of those people like Kris and Lil are out of place and not near the bottom.

Cook was great and how nice that his mom was there. I wonder if that was his grandmother next to her? I had a feeling they were going to present him with a plaque or something. Cool that they just pulled girls out of the audience to do that. Congrats to him. He got to platinum pretty quick. The right person definitely won and he looked great. His hair looked lighter. It didn't seem like his performance was taped beforehand either like it was reported it would. I'm glad it wasn't. These things should be live because it takes away from the experience otherwise. That is why I'm glad the group performance was not pre-taped or lip synched as it takes away from the experience.

I liked Cook's song but I thought they were also going to show the full video? Guess not. They want you to download it LOL. Oh well. I will just catch it on Youtube.

So, they did the exact same thing with the results only they lined them up in groups of 3 and it was basically one person from each group in the bottom 3...at least it wasn't the predictable "Which one of these groups is the bottom 3 and hh, look, I'm going to flip-flop so and so" junk.

Bottom 3 was right on with DialIdol so, hopefully, it's Megan that goes like DialIdol says although Ryan did hint that the judges may have a difficult time tonight. Hmm...I hope it's not Alison.

I love how care free Alison and Megan are. They both don't even seem nervous. It was so funny when Alison said hello to the "familiar chair" LOL.

I meant that I didn't like those "dramatic" opening shots of the AI contestants, the rest of the opening was ok.

Yeah that Ford commercial was just awful.

Megan is irritating the crap out of me. Enough with the stupid faces and clapping! The way she flapped her arms that a bird when she was put in the bottom 3 was ridiculous too. I just can't stand her at all!

Aww...yeah. They were a little over the top LOL.

By the way, what the hell was Megan doing when she was told she was in the bottom 3? She did that bird noise again like she did when she sang 'Rockin Robin" and then she did some kind of bird dance. Strange girl...she worries me because nothing seems to bother her. I know Alison is the same way but she is not oblivious to what happens around her and Megan sometimes seems to be.

I did like the little April Fools thing Ryan pulled on Matt and how Kris poked fun at him for it, although I don't think it was intentional. Whenver you hear the upbeat Idol theme and see the bright lights, that means your safe so he should've known that. When the lighting gets red and the dramatic music plays, your in the bottom and it's bad news.

I bet Alison is the one they would think about saving.

Same here. I mean, what the hell?

Then she said she didn't care about the judge's comments. What a stupid thing to say!

I know there was no chance of the judge's saving her (we all know they were talking about saving Alison) but that sealed the deal and now what record company will want her? She just killed any job offers she could get out of this by saying that because it looks like it was nothing but a party for her or something. Stupid. She comes off as not caring about the music and getting better.

I'm glad she is gone and I'm glad Alison was not in the bottom two. Hopefully, this brings more votes for her. I did kind of feel bad for Megan because Simon was brutal on her but at least he was honest and not leading her along. Saved them all the time and Simon was clearly pissed about the comment Megan made because the other judges went up after Paula did to say goodbye and comfort Megan and he just walked the other way and left.

I'm sad for Megan! She was so unique and quirky and weird and I just loved her. I loved how random she was and you never really know what she's going to do or what kind of song she's going to perform. I loved her and I'm sad she's gone. :( That goodbye package her got me a little misty-eyed. Sayonara, gorgeous!

LoL @ the judges saying that Megan is basically so bad that they weren't even going to bother listening to her performance before deciding not to save her. Why didn't they just tell the truth and say that time constraints wouldn't allow for the fakery? Idiots.

So good to see David Cook again, even if his performance was pre-recorded. He looked absolutely adorable!

WTF was Lady Gaga smoking with that performance?!? LMAO! I was actually sitting here laughing through the entire thing. The hair, the weird twitches and dancing. It was hysterical, but I loved it.

I wish Scott had gone home tonight. Ugh, ugh. So sick of him I could puke.

Oh, and that Ford music video was EMBARRASSING, as was the lip-synched group performance. Why does AI insist on making them lip-synch those segments? It makes them all look so stupid! Do they think we're too stupid to notice it?

Megan is nuts. What the heck was that when they told her she needed to go to the stools. She had a bit of an attitude last night with the judges with her comment about all the fans voting for her. Then again tonight. Glad that trainwreck is gone.

Love my Cook! Hoping he makes it near me this summer on the tour because I would love to see him live.

I don't like how they are lip syncing the group performances either. It really takes away from it.

Actually I think that is just her. My friend saw her as the opening act for NKOTB and said there were no words to explain how odd it was. I have seen one or two of her performances on Youtube...very strange.

I didn't think they lip-synched tonight. It sounded authentic and Cook's performance left me confused because it did not look pre-recorded like reported. Maybe I'm wrong but it didn't look that way to me.

Lady Gaga was strange as hell. Wow...that was...wow.

Time constraints had nothing to do with what happened to Megan. It was her attitude last night and tonight and the 'I don't care" comment. It's one thing to be care free and all but she screwed herself and Simon was right. If she don't care, why should they? Simon was clearly pissed and I don't blame him.

I felt a little bad for her at the end but her last performance was very indulgent and the dancing was hideous. However, when she said she was coming home to her baby, I started feeling bad for her and the goodbye video made me feel bad for her too. She did start to break down then and part of me wonders if she wanted to go home because she knew she didn't have a chance in hell and she had enough of being bashed by people and the judges. She seemed a bit relieved and seem to think it was coming. Like Micheal, I think she was ready to go. They both had kids and I think you never realize how tough it will be until you are separated from them for so long. I was glad Randy, Paula, and Kara went up to say goodbye and console her at the end, even if she didn't really deserve it tonight, which is why I understand Simon's being hard on her and not bothering to go up and say goodbye to her.

I thought tonight was fun and from what I have read this is the closest group ever. Kris A said that they have a blast in that house. This is the first time they have had them all live together in a house. They really really really are all such great friends. He said that they call Danny Gokey, Danny Goofy. Danny apparently is the comedian of the group and is always making people laugh.

David Cook's performance was tape two weeks ago .... if you can tell they did not show the contestants nor the judges. David's brother is dying from a brain tumor and word has it that his brother is near death.

I think also that the group song was not lip sinc at all tonight.

I think it was Megan's time to go and I think she is glad to go. She didn't put in much effort I think she wanted to go home. Still I think the judges were harsh.

It was definitely lip synched. I watched closely.

You mean you couldn't tell it when Scott was playing the piano and had his five second solo yet his mouth was about ten feet away from the mic? I literally LoL'd and nearly choked on a pretzel.
