I just thought of something. I bet the BIG thing is Paula's choreographing the dance number for the group performance tonight. A judge has never done something like that on the show before. I haven't heard of something big happening (outside of all the buzz of a shocking elimination possibly coming tonight) from anywhere else so I bet that may be what it is. ETA: Kenny just posted the same thought I had  . Edited by PhoenixRising05, Apr 22 2009, 03:38 PM.

Many people are speculating that the BIG thing is going to be Paula dancing with the contestants during the group performance. Apparently she cherographed the routine this week. |

Man the backstage drama is at a high again this year! Not a surprise! There are all a bunch of Diva's the poor contestants are stuck in the middle of all this ... It could all be Hype too! As far as the "save" - hated the idea to begin with - if they all of a sudden instigate a "super save" it will just reflect bad on the show. If Danny goes then Danny goes. He shouldn't but it is what it is! Edited by cjknick, Apr 22 2009, 03:44 PM.

Great minds think alike, I guess  . Kenny did post first so I guess he gets that distinction LOL. The surprise is probably her actually dancing in the number with them. They promoted her choreographing the number but they never mentioned her being on stage during it. I'm beginning to think Kara will be gone and Paula will stay. I think the stuff concerning Paula is just a little overblown and she just wants to make sure her position is secure. Even if her and Kara are getting along ok, I'm sure she still wants to make sure that if she stays on her job is safe and she isn't going to be slighted at all. As for Kara, this whole thing is a mess. She's been improving but the judges really have to start talking and working this out amongst themselves because this shit has to stop. It always seems like Kara is causing some sort of drama and early in the season there was none of that. It seemed to really start once we got to the live shows. I think they need to try to work this out or just get rid of her or give her another role as I suggested. Plus, Kara seems a bit too sensitive. I can understand why because this is all new to her and she probably does not feel secure in her position but still. I think alot of this could be solved by the judges simply talking to each other and working any differences or issues out. I tend to think alot of is overblown to create drama anyway but I don't think it can be disputed anymore that there are kinks and issues at hand. It's just sad that the contestants are in the middle of it all, just like they are when the judges have their petty squabbles or like last year when Randy and Simon make it a competition over who is right like they did with the two Davids. I just hate how the judges and the way the show is being executed seem to be overshadowing the performances and the contestants the past year or so. That should not be the case and it's been happening more and more as we go on. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Apr 22 2009, 03:47 PM.

I hope Kara DOES quit. I cannot stand her. She is like a great big, yapping, monkey wrench in the show. |

THR Feed Cowell: I don't want to be on 'Idol' if it's not No. 1 American Idol judge Simon Cowell says he will leave the most popular show on television if it ever slips from the top spot in the ratings. “The idea that for the next five years, I’d be doing exactly what I’ve been doing for the past five years … the thought is just too depressing,” Cowell said in a recent interview in his trailer awaiting a taping of Idol at CBS Television City. “I’d go nuts, bored out of my mind. You have to evolve, you have to change. I like the challenge of launching something new.” With Cowell’s deal with Fox expiring at the end of next season, that “something new” could be a U.S. version of his UK singing competition series The X Factor. Any doubts about Cowell’s role in the success of Idol disappeared when he launched Factor three years ago -- the somewhat similarly formatted show became a massive hit that has since supplanted American Idol predecessor Pop Idol. The Factor success was worrisome enough for Fox to forbid Cowell from launching the show in the U.S. as part of his current Idol deal. But all that could soon change. Between Idol’s continuing popularity and his ownership of Factor, Cowell is armed with both a carrot and a stick. Asked if he would want to stay on Idol if the series ever slipped from No. 1 in the Nielsens, Cowell burst out laughing at the apparent obviousness of the answer. “Absolutely not!” he said, looking horrified. “It's like running in the 100 meters and saying 'I came in fifth' -- then why bother? Being No. 1 is verging on an obsession with me. I don’t like being No. 2. I don’t mind when you start at No. 10 -- people don’t always go on as No. 1 -- and you’ve got somewhere to go. But if you’re at the point you’ve reached it, of course you want to stay there." Though the Idol audience has declined over the past few seasons, it remains far and away the biggest Nielsen needle-mover with about 22 million viewers per episode. No other TV program approaches its popularity. Yet unlike many in the TV business, Cowell rejects the claim that Idol ratings erosion is inevitable. “I don’t accept the argument of fragmentation or declining numbers,” he said. “The Super Bowl goes up every year.” Factor, he noted, has also grown its audience every year, which suggested to Cowell that America is ready for another music competition series. “We have to bring in another music show,” he said. “In the U.K., there is more than one type of music show running throughout the year. And I think the same thing could happen here, because for the fall, nothing really happens. It’s something we’ve been thinking about … I would definitely do it now.” “Maybe it’ll be X Factor, ” he teased vaguely. “Maybe it’ll be something new …” |

I read that and that is just so Simon LOL. I think he will stay but he will want more money and will probably want to be able to bring a version of The X Factor here. I think he will just give up being a presence on the British version of it and will come here and produce and judge the US version. I think he is right that we could use another music show, especially in the Fall. Things are kind of dull in the Fall and it will help me get through the depressing Fall months when nothing is going on LOL. Plus, I'm kind of shocked there wasn't a legitimate contender to Idol by now. Sure, there have been copycats but nothing actually coming close to Idol. You would think someone would come up with something and what better then something from Simon, who is actually on Idol and knows how to make these shows work. I also think he wants and needs Idol to stay #1 so he can use that fact in the negotiations. He can argue that he helps keep the show #1 and that he helped to bring the show to the US. It makes his position in negotiations stronger. It actually does for all the judges and for Ryan so they all probably want it to remain #1. If it loses that #1 spot, it basically validates the fact that the slight decrease in viewership has less to do with more options, DVR, etc and more to do with the show being stale and beginning to decline. If it remains #1, they can still throw their weight around and act like losing viewership here and there is no big deal. |

This dance number is cheesy, and I see they're back to the lip-synching. Danny is so campy it's ridiculous! LoL @ his squat humping towards the camera. That was scary. |

I am sure there was some prerecording to it, but they had on those headphone mics. It was kind of hard to see, but there was something there. |
