The most interesting thing is that this has to be one of, if not the first, times the person who went last ended up eliminated. That is pretty big. Granted, we have seen people who went last end up in the bottom 2 or 3 (like Lil did last week) but I don't think we've ever had someone eliminated out of that spot that I can remember. Lil went first so no surprise there but Anoop going last and ending up going home...it's really big in that it has never happened or at least does not happen often. It just goes to show you that ending up in the bottom 2 or 3 multiple times trumps or negates the impact of the pimp slot.

Yep, that's what it is.

"Next week, the Top 5 finalists – Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert – take the stage again Tuesday, April 28 (8:00-9:01 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to perform standards made famous by members of the original Rat Pack, a group of legendary performers that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr."

I kind of like it! It'll be interesting to see how some of them re-tool the songs to make them sound fresh and new. I think it'll be good.

I was pleased with last night's results. I really liked Anoop, but at this point, I pretty much like everyone personally, and someone has to go ...
I am happy with the top 5. Even though I am not an Adam fan, I know that he deserves to be there, and will likely be in the top 2, and probably even win.
Anyway ...
I liked the group performance, it was cute, but I was annoyed with the lip syncing. Why bother with the dancing if it means they have to lip sync? This is a singing show.
I love Paula, I think she is adorable, so I liked the package of their rehearsals and stuff, and her getting the flowers.
I was shocked that they eliminated Lil so early in the show, but glad. The disco medley was alright, but kind of awkward. I LOVED David's performance. LOL, I know it's not a popular opinion here, but I like him, he makes me smile. I think he sang well, and really has improved his stage presence.
I was thrilled with Danny, Matt, and Kris being safe ... I could have accepted either Anoop or Allison going home, but I am glad it was Anoop out of the two, because I really think that Allison deserves to be there.

I really like the idea of the theme for next week. I love the music from the Rat pack, and I think it will be really interesting to see how they perform them.

I think Matt's gonna go next week, followed by Allison Iraheta. Or vice versa.

Kris, Adam and Danny will be Top 3. By the time we reach that point, the fanbase for Kris should be stronger and Danny will have lost enough of his hype to open the door for an upset by Kris.

I'm beginning to think your right.

I had a feeling it would be Kris or Alison but Kris has all the buzz. I think if they give Alison the pimp slot next week she will be safe for sure. Part of me would like to see them give her the pimp slot during top 4 because then I think she may get to the finale but she has to get to he top 4 first. I tend to think Matt will be gone this week because I think his boost this past week was only temporary. Plus, whenever Alison ends up in the bottom, usually she rebounds for at least a week so I think she will be safe at least another week.

Does anyone remember if they even said that Alison was in the bottom 3 last night? It was a bit confusing because of the double elimination and I don't remember if Ryan ever said she was in the bottom group or if they just put her there for kicks. I still remember last year how so many sites pegged David Archuleta as being in the bottom 3 one week and the show did not place him there and that same night they didn't make it clear if those in the bottom 3 were actually the bottom 3. Part of me wonders if Danny or Matt was bottom 3 but they didn't want to make themselves look like fools by saving Matt and they also wanted to protect Danny like they did Archie (either that or they don't want a surge in votes for Danny and are hoping he gets taken out soon). I mean, they could've very well stuck Alison there to mobilize fans to vote for her.

As for the theme, I hate it. I hated when they did it in season 3 and past seasons and I hate it not. The judges and producers said that they were not going to go with old-fashioned themes like this at all this season and here they go with it. It's very hard to take songs like this and make them relevant (and interesting since alot of these songs can be rather dry and boring), although I guess that is where the challenge lies so maybe it won't be so bad. I felt sort of the same about disco night (even though I like Disco a little more then this sort of theme) but it didn't come off badly at all. Still, at this point in the competition, I don't like doing this theme. I don't really care for it at all but we are at the top 5 and I would rather see something like a rock week. I guess that will be reserved for top 4 week. Now I need to hope Alison gets through LOL to get to that point LOL.

I see Matt having the toughest time with this. Sure, he may be able to so some sort of jazzy.soulful performance but I can just see this as a tough week for him and I have a feeling he will be thrown under the bus this week. The judge's other punching bag, Lil, is gone and I'm sure they would rather keep the last female, Alison, around. Plus, she makes for a more interesting top 4 then Matt does so I can just seem them throwing Matt under the bus this week since last week they couldn't because they saved him the week before. They would've looked like fools. All I know is whoever goes first or second in performance order (or whoever goes between Adam and Danny or Alison) better not pick something slow, dry, and boring or they will be a lock to go home. With this kind of theme, it's not that hard to have a forgettable performance so the contestants better be careful.

I wonder what Paula will say on Nightline. With all the rumors going around, I will have to be sure to watch that to see if anything juicy comes out of it.

I wish Adam would go first for once. He's always singing one of the last few. And Kris should get the pimp spot.. :D

They're never gonna have him perform early in the show because he's the one that everybody tunes in for. If they have their "showstopper" perform first, they're afraid the ratings will drop off for the last half of the show, LoL.

He said she was in the Bottom 3.
Ah, ok. I wasn't sure because it was noisy in my house and I had not watched my tape back to see what he had said.

Well, she has rebounded before after being in the bottom 3 (usually, it's bought her a few safe weeks once she ended up there) so that doesn't necessarily mean much. Then again, with only 5 people left, there isn't much of a safety net anymore. Maybe Archuleta's fans will give her some help after this week LOL.

You made a good point about Adam. I'm sure they know he won't be eliminated so that is not why he doesn't go early on. They just know he's the one that is unpredictable and who gets all the attention so they want to make sure they put him in slots where they can make sure they hold on to the audience he brings in. If they are singing two songs this week, then maybe they will have him go first since he would be performing twice.

With Kris I wonder if the "regular" meaning non-on-line fans like him. Unlike the others he only sort of appeared in the round of 36. Until I read it elsewhere I had no memory of how he was part of "White Chocolate" during Hollywood week.
