^Matt really has not been that bad but I figured he would be the next VFTW since he's the longshot right now. I think he's run will end this week though and, hopefully, we get a shock elimination (I hope Danny) that will help give Alison a shot. The pimple is a bit distracting though. I usually could care less about things like that but the longer Matt has been on, the more annoying it's become.

That Simon article was interesting. I love the bit about Ryan and Twitter LOl. Also agree with him on television. There is just nothing but shit for the most part right now. I only watch reruns of old drama and sitcoms, DWTS, Idol, and a few other shows. The reality shit has indeed took a nosedive too. Nothing is shocking anymore.

I don't put much stock in what Simon is saying concerning the top 3. He's always made predictions or implied who he felt would go to the finale, top 3, or what have you. It doesn't mean much and we all already had an idea who they wanted to get there. Doesn't mean it will happen. Adam is a lock but I wouldn't be so sure about anyone else yet. Stranger things have happened, especially down the final stretch of the season. I did like that he gave credit to Kris. I wish he would've to Alison too, especially since he's been praising her more of late. I also liked what he said about Lil. I figured he liked her. They all did at the show and they gave her every chance they could and you can tell they were disappointed in her. Liked his comments in regard to Kelly and Carrie too. I think he liked Carrie during season 4 but he seemed to find her boring for awhile after and even said so but I think he's seen what she's done and he's talked alot with her since and he's changed his perception of her. I figured he liked Kelly too and Leona Lewis was discovered by him so no surprise with his comments there. Kind of shocked he doesn't read the boards since there are many people out there who do like him and he likes to stroke his ego. Plus, he has a thick skin so I don't think he would be bothered by people hating him. He acknowledged being awake that there will always be people that love and hate you. I can only imagine how the others (especially the girl judges) feel since he says they read the boards and they have been blasted the most, no doubt.

I hope they do more interviews like that with Simon and others. Very interesting.

Glad Fox won't be airing Obama. I like him but enough is enough. Idol has gotten screwed by him alot this year, especially when they couldn't fly out to Detroit for Motown week and got delayed because he flew into LAX for his Leno appearance. Seriously, I wouldn't mind if Obama didn't do a primetime news conference for everything. It's just overkill now. The 100 days is important but, for me, he ruined my ability to care by wasting my time at other points since he took office. I don't feel he will offer up anything new and, if he does, I will just watch it when it's rerun or something. With this economy and the way the networks are, they can't afford anymore major hits and it's too bad the other networks really can't refuse. I'm glad Fox did too and that they are kind of helping themselves by directing anyone who wants to watch to the news stations.

I figured next week would be rock week if it wasn't going to be this week. I still wish they weren't doing this week's theme at all (especially at this point in the season) because I think it will be boring and horrible but whatever. Now I hope Alison gets through because next week could really be her week. There were rumors earlier this season of a Guns & Roses week so this is no surprise. I'm guessing they won't restrict to just Guns & Roses. That is way too limited LOL. They've returned to broad themes and big songbooks this year, which is the right thing to do, so I expect just a typical rock week with Slash mentoring. I can't wait. Should be good and should make for a great and dramatic top 4 week.

Great to hear about Daughtry. I saw them in concert last summer and he performed one of the new songs from the second album. It was great and something very different from them. I've been waiting to hear when it would be released because it seemed to keep changing. Last summer, they said late Fall and then it was said mid-winter and now it's summer. Just glad it's coming out and I can't wait until they perform on Idol. I'm guessing they will perform during the top 4 results show since it's rock week and they've been trying to stick to the themes on results nights as much as possible as well. I wish we could get Daughtry on the finale too because I would like to see a Daughtry/David Cook collaboration . One good idea I like for the finale this year is to bring back former Idol winners and contestants and have them duet with other former winners and contestants. That would be interesting. We've seen a little of that but maybe a medley of some sort could be cool.

A few days ago, the official AI page said that everyone will be performing two songs this week. However, they've now changed that and it says nothing about the number of songs anymore. My guess is that the producers are afraid of time constraints and have bumped it back to one song each.

Sort of off topic for a second. Agree about the Obama part especially when we have a ton of cable news channels that can air this. There is no reason for him to be on all the networks as well as all the cable news channels. Grant it I like that we have a President that gets on television and talks to the people, but it is starting to be a bit too much.

Looking forward to the new Daughtry stuff myself. Loved their first CD and play it all of the time. Saw them in concert last spring open for Bon Jovi and they were great. Chris even came on stage and sang a song with Bon Jovi. Great moment. I would be cool for a Daughtry/David Cook pairing at the finale. I like this season with former idols coming back to perform with the contestants.

The minute I heard they were having a mentor this week I knew they may reconsider doing two songs. There is just no time. The worst part is we will likely get a ton of filler and judge's banter tonight. Ugh. If they run overtime tonight, then they really have issues.

I can't stand Jamie Foxx. Used to love him but ever since "Ray" he's turned into an ass and he really needs to keep his mouth shut. What qualifies him to be a mentor this week anyway? This Rat Pack/Standards. What the hell?! Now we have to deal with him tonight and on the results night since he will no doubt be performing.

Thanks for those rumored song spoilers, Angie. I hope those are true in a way because I like those songs and know them. My hope is they all at least pick songs I like to prevent me from being bored out of mind tonight. The one thing I don't like, if those spoilers are true, is that I can see Matt doing very well with that in that a song choice like that could help him go over well with fans this week. We'll see. I'm really looking forward to seeing the performance order tonight because that should play a huge role in who goes home, even though I think Matt's time will be up anyway.

I agree, Jamie Foxx is terrible. I don't like him at all.

Those song spoilers above are great! I can see both Matt and Kris doing well with those songs.

Meanwhile, Simon is on the cover of the latest TV Guide, and inside the magazine is an interview in which he says that he has no say over whether or not Kara stays with the show. He only has pull when it comes to Ryan, Paula and Randy, and he's told the producers that he wouldn't want to continue doing the show if either of those three left.

Danny Gokey - “Come Rain Come Shine” - Jamie suggested changes

The best: Kris, Allison and Adam

I read that, which makes me wonder if the producers came up with it and just sold him on the idea. I think Simon was ok with trying it just to shake things up but it's clear he hates it and what it has done. He hasn't really been shy about letting his feelings be known LOL. Since Nigel (who seemed to get along great with Simon and who was there from the beginning) is no longer a producer, I have to wonder if maybe whoever replaced him suggested the judge thing. I bet we will see whoever came up with the idea go before Kara, although if whoever came up with it goes it's likely she will too. Whatever the case, I also think Paula will stay. I think Simon and Randy will convince her or Simon will make sure she gets what she wants. I just hate how Kara is being thrown under the bus left and right. I read an interview with her where she claims the whole drama with her quitting last week was a lie and that she loves the job but I can't imagine that is the case with some of what has been said.

I read some interviews with Lil where she blames the judge's comments for hurting voting for her. i couldn't help but laugh at that. She got bad comments because she was bad most of the time and because she was bad she got voted out. Why is it that hard to understand? LOL. She still doesn't get it and seems to think she was in the right.

Lil said she is supporting Alison since she is great and the last female left. Not sure if that is a bad or good thing considering how divisive Lil has proven to be but I think it could help. In the past, the last female left usually benefited big time from that distinction (Katherine McPhee for example).

Don't like Alison going second but Kris has gone second alot and been ok. It seems like Matt has the worst slot though, especially with Alison said to be goo. He may got lost in the shuffle.

I love Kris and Alison's song choices. Adam will likely do well. I can't believe he is going last. Did they really think he would struggle with this theme? Adam will never struggle because he will just make the song suit him.

I don't like Danny's choice and, the more I think about it, I don't like Matt's either. It may come off worse then some of his other uptempo stuff this year.

I'm just glad I know most of these songs and that Kris, Alison, and Adam were said to be the best. Maybe this won't be bad tonight afterall. I hate Jaime Foxx but him suggesting changes to Danny and Matt may not bode well for them LOL.

I like the music in the background as the judges are being introduced. I like how the judges seem to be dressed to fit the theme too. Randy has an old-looking sweater on. Kara and Paula both are dressed a little old fashioned (and both look amazing), and all the contestants are dressed to fit the theme. Simon is really the only one not looking the part LOL.

I like the band being on stage. I think it makes the performances sound better. Idol used to have it that way and I wish they never changed it.

I see Lori Loughlin in the audience. She looks great!

So, they played this as a mystery mentor? No wonder we just found it today who the mentor was. The contestants were just as surprised. I like how Kris noted how most of those involved in the Rat Pack are dead. That was pretty funny. Not that they are dead but the way he said that. I also like how Matt was thinking someone like Micheal Buble would be the mentor. Jaime Foxx is so random. The Jaime Foxx video package was annoying because it reminded me of when I used to like him and how annoying he has become but he does seem to know his music. He seemed to know alot about the theme tonight so I guess this works. He is also brutally honest and that is what you want in a mentor, just like Andrew Lloyd Webber was.

How did I guess they were going to commercial before the first performance? They have to actually stall tonight LOL. Better then more filler I guess. Way to make Kris wait the whole commercial break though LOL.

I guess it must be nearly the finale. We got our first So You Think You Can Dance promo.

What Ryan said is so true. Kris really has come out of nowhere in this competition to be a contender.

I could see Jaime and Kris doing a collaboration, as weird as it sounds. i figured Jaime would like him because of Kris' instrumental skills and contemporary style.

I thought the performance was great and he looked cool in the suit. Everyone looks good tonight. It helps that I love the song and having the band around him like that really helped too. His vocals were great and I wasn't bored LOL. Good song choice. I don't know what the hell Simon meant by "wet" but whatever. I don't think it was Kris' best though but still great. Plus, he's smiling and showing alot of personality this week. He seems to confident. Good for him. I like how his parents were talking and trying to figure out what the hell Simon was talking about. Ryan's little quip about Kris going to dry off was funny. Even Kris laughed LOL.

Alison looks FANTASTIC tonight. She looked so cute out in the audience cheering with them.

I have to say with both Jamie and Quentin two weeks ago the mentors actually seem invested in how the idols perform. They actually give some feedback and help to give a bit of direction to help them out. In the past mentors were just like "oh you are great" to every idol. Here at least I feel like they are giving them some constructive criticism to build and work with.

I have to say this is the first time I really liked Allison. I don't know if it was enough to get her to the finals like Kara said. I felt like this was the first time she was brave enough to step away from the whole "rocker chic" persona and try something different. I sort of see what Simon said about the confidence.
