I didn't want alot of filler but I do like how everyone seems to be getting an interview tonight. A bit more balanced rather then the same ones getting focus all the time. LOL to Ryan trying to set up Alison with someone in the audience. Hopefully, it being her birthday or close to it will help get her some votes. I'm sure her look tonight will help too. She looked GREAT! I love her hair longer. It was nice to see her dressed up and singing so softly as she hasn't done a softer song in weeks. She was FANTASTIC. I agree with Kara and am so glad she said Alison should go to the finals. She really should. Her vocals were fantastic and I could feel her emotion on that song and i saw tears in her eyes for the first time. Jaime gave her good advice about thinking of her parents since she's so young that it's hard for her to go with the falling in love part. In fact, so far, Jaime's been a very good mentor. I did like Alison feeling bad that she said she is too young to have a boyfriend LOL. I think Simon said what he said to get more people to vote her. He wants to mobilize her fans. Hope it works. Glad Kara told him off anyway LOL. I think the fact that she will appeal to young fans tonight with the way she looks, her personality showing, etc. I also hope she gets sympathy votes because of her birthday. |

I agree. Quentin and Jaime have been solid. Very good mentors thus far. Alison did veer away from rock several weeks ago but this was her first vulnerable performance. I think Simon did what he did simply to help her out. Two weeks ago, he praised her confidence and belief in winning. I just hope it works. |

Wow...I'm liking Jaime tonight. I like that he realized he didn't do enough for Matt so he called him back in. As cubsgirl pointed out, you can tell he gives a damn, just like Quentin did. It's pretty sad how mentors like Andrew Lloyd Webber last year and now Quentin and Jaime this year seem to be more invested them some of the mentors you would expect to be better or more suited for this kind of thing. I knew this was bad for Matt. That was sort of flat. I hated Constantine but he really did well with this song and so did Melinda a few years ago. Matt tried to do too much with it yet again and he lost the emotion and some of the notes as a result. He did ok but it was very hit or miss throughout. This is a week suited for him but I just knew the song choice would not be good for him because he likes to do alot of runs and sometimes does too much. I love that song too but it's been sung before on this show so much better and that does not help. Plus, it was sort of boring for the first time tonight. I see what the judges are up too. Sorry but Simon is not fooling anyone. It's last year's finale all over again. He praises Matt for a performance that was not even close to being as good as he said and Paula backs him up on it right after he bashes Alison a bit to mobilize her fans. Meanwhile, Kara and Randy like Alison and bash Matt. In other words, Matt=David Archuleta and Alison=David Cook. I was thinking they would do what they did to Castro last year and Lil last week by putting Matt in a bad performance slot and throwing him under the bus. I guess Simon thinks his strategy from last year's finale is better LOL. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Apr 28 2009, 07:42 PM.

Agree with you Phoenix. Simon said what he did about Allison to get her some more votes. Simon really knows what sells and what does. He also knows how to get the fans all worked up. He wants Matt gone which makes me think why he sort of said negative things about both Kris and Allison to get their fanbases going knowing Danny and Adam are probably safe. |

Wow...Danny gets no interview this week? So far, he's the only one not to. Surprising since they have the time to do that tonight. I guess they feel they pimped him enough. LMAO to Jaime getting in Danny's face and making him uncomfortable. I love how he was worried about his breath. What Danny said is the big problem. He said he wasn't going to change the song up much. That is the same shit Simon called him on last week. He's not original enough and takes no risks. That is not a good artist. He has the vocals but that's it. He sang it well. It started horribly boring but the second half and end, like most of his songs was great. Whenever he hits the chorus and high notes, he seems to excel. Still can't stand him though. I hate what Randy said. We know he can sing but it WAS a safe performance and sure he can win and make an album with this kind of music but it won't sell worth a shit. It's not relevant. I do think it was his best in weeks though. He looked like he cared tonight. Maybe it's because we are nearing the end or maybe he read the boards last week and read the rumors that he may go home last week. Who knows. I do agree with Simon that Jaime brought something out of him not seen or heard in weeks (Jaime has been good for everyone tonight so I hate how they limit it to Danny) but it was still a safe performance. The only difference is the vocals made it less noticeable when last week he was too complacent with the vocals so it was easier to notice how safe it was, which is why Simon probably called him on it. We all figured this theme would be good for him and that he would likely sail through this week because of it so no shock here, I guess. |

Am being to feel like am not going to watch anymore of Idol. These judges are so darn driving me crazy with there Danny pimping. And the way there treating Allison and Kris is so pissing me off. Espically Simon and I usually love him not so tonight. |

Yep. I think that is what he did for Kris too. He knew they both were going first and second and those that go early in the show can be at risk. I think he wants to make sure they both get through and Matt goes. I think and hope Matt will go anyway. He deserves too tonight and I think his performance slot will hurt him. Being caught between Alison and Danny, both of which got big crowd reactions and both of which were good, doesn't help him IMO. |

Has Randy actually been watching Adam all season? He has been theaterical all season...this wasn't anything new this week. Again he knows how to grab your attention. LOL at Simon's commenting about a cow mooing in reference to Randy's comment. |

Loved Adam's performance. Probably my 3 favs this week were Kris, Danny, & Adam. That Matt guy was not good and the girl had some of the worst phrasing and breath control ever. |

Danny was the best by a mile tonight. Kris is my favorite but he was no where near Danny's performance. Adam was again way too over the top for my taste I just can't imagine listening to his shrilly voice without getting a headache, He best stay doing the theatre thing. Allison was ok and Matt well this was Matt's type of music and he didn't bring it. |

Wow...Jaime even loves Adam. He brought him to tears. This guy so has it in the bag. Hell, Idol made it even more blatant then usual. The camera angles, the writing, the entrance...just crown him now LOL. It was ok. The first time in a few weeks I didn't love him. Randy was right. It was a bit too much and too theatrical, even for him, but whatever. Sometimes he overdoes it and sometimes he doesn't. The high note that he held for what felt like weeks LOL was amazing. I always LMAO with the way the judges react. Kara doesn't seem as high on him as others but what she said was right. He's interesting, confusing, appealing, unique, etc. That is why he's going to be successful. He's different and he grabs your attention and is a true entertainer. I loved the entrance though. It really looked great with Adam's white suit, which looked awesome. It beat Alison's last week where she laid on the stairs as they came out. The lighting at the beginning and end rocked too. I loved Simon and the other judges saying that Ryan couldn't use that entrance or the stairs anymore because they are Adam's now LOL. I love how the show still ran a minute over time LOL. That's ok though. Once it goes past five minutes, then it's horrible. I liked the pace tonight. There wasn't alot of filler. Everyone but Adam and Danny got interviews, which was nice since they get the most pimping. The judges made good points (some bad too LOL) and weren't too annoying. Plus, we didn't get much in the way of pointless judge's/Ryan banter or filler. Everyone seemed more at ease with the pace including Ryan, the judges (who seemed to get along the best they have since before the top 13 tonight), and the contestants. It did not feel rushed for the first time this season and I liked it. Too bad it can't be this way every week. Hopefully, they improve the time issue next season. The night as a whole was better then I expected. I didn't get bored at all with the exception of Matt and the performances were anywhere from great to tolerable. Thankfully, we have a group this year that changes songs to suit them for the most part (with the exception of Danny) so that helped tonight and has helped numerous times throughout the season. This season is not bad and I think if Matt goes tomorrow, we have a very strong top 4 (much better then last year) but I'm not enjoying this season as much as last year and some others so I disagree with Simon. I know he likes it because of the personalities and all (he mentioned that with Alison again, saying she may be overshadowed by the personalities, which I don't understand since she has a great personality) and this group is very talented, especially considering who we have left. However, it's a singing competition and I'm not convinced yet that this season will go down, for me anyway, as one of the best IMO like seasons 2, 4, 6, 7 do but we'll see. Not a bad night at all, though. I think Matt and Alison will be bottom two with Matt (hopefully and deserving) going. Then we'll see about next week. I hope Alison gets through because next week is her week to shine if she does. |

That comment was pretty funny and so true. I did like Kara saying that Alison proved she is more then a one trick pony and a rock chick. I thought she proved it a few weeks ago but she did it even moreso tonight. Even though I believed he was going home regardless of what happened tonight, Matt still was a disappointment because this music really does suit him and he and Danny really were the ones who were set up to have the easiest time this week. They could've picked almost anything that fit this theme and made it work for them. |

Jamie Foxx was hysterical tonight! "It's fresh... your breath." I actually loved him as a mentor. Surprise, surprise! Simon's critiques were a little weird tonight. I feel like he kept saying the exact opposite of what I felt. I think he does that sometimes to affect the voting though. Anyway, here's what I thought of everyone... Matt G. - He's so going home tomorrow. He shouldn't have taken Jamie's advice, because I feel like he sang the song too low. Especially in the beginning. It got better towards the end, but in comparison to everyone else, he was the worst and most forgettable of the night. He's a goner. Allison - Amazing! I loved her. Such raspy, Pink-esque vocals. Her voice was so pure, the performance was simple and pretty, and I loved her hair. She looked great tonight. Fantastic. Danny - The last half was much better than the first half. He only sings well when he does the raspy growl, and he sounds terrible anytime he tries to use a lower or higher register. Even so, he was decent tonight. Not too terribly cheesy, thank God. I still say he would go the way of Taylor Hicks if he won though. He wouldn't be a hit on today's radio. Adam - No, no, no, no, no. I didn't like the arrangement, I didn't like the way he sang it, and I HATED that screechy loud ass note at the end. I'm still trying to clean the blood out of my ears. Absolutely RIDICULOUS. Theatric and stupid. Why does he have to throw that screeching and screaming into every song? It gets old. Kris Allen - Absolutely gorgeous! I loved the arrangement and I especially loved the tempo change halfway through. Again, his vocals were crisp, pure and gorgeous. Also, is it just me or does he get cuter and cuter every week? After tonight, I think he's the one I want to win. I just love him. Oh, and was I just hearing things or did Randy call him "Matt" tonight? If so, that makes the second time this season he's gotten a contestant's name wrong. This late in the competition, there's no reason for it. If I were Kris, I'd be pissed. BOTTOM 3: Matt, Allison, Kris... unfortunately. (I wish we could swap Kris and Allison for Adam/Danny.) GOING HOME: Sayonara, Matt! |

Kris, Allison, Adam and Danny proved tonight how fantastic they are. It's Matt's time to go and my jaw will be on the floor tomorrow night if he doesn't. Is he a good singer? Sure, but the other four deserve it more. |

Yeah I agree with you on that. There is something missing this season. I think there are some good singers but there still isn't that one that I am dying to see what they do after Idol. I might listen to an album from Kris, Matt and even Adam out of curiousity, but don't know if I would buy them. |

Totally agree. He was simply adorable this week and seems to get cuter every week. I too think he is going to be in the bottom 3 simply because I think Danny and Adam have locked spots in the top 2. Although I did text in a few extra votes more than I normally do for Kris. Right now I am going to vote my heart out for him simply because I think he is a total underdog and would love to see a big upset. |

God, I can't get over how cheesy and awful Adam was tonight. The cheesy white suit, the makeup caked on his puffy cheeks, the way he sashayed down the stairs and held that glory note for about 15 seconds too long... just wow. It was SO cheesy and indulgent and full of painful wailing. Just awful. If anyone gave a performance like that in one of the earlier seasons, Simon would've slammed it and classified it as "indulgent nonsense." |

Adam was horrendous this week. I just can't stand the over-the-top and theatrical style he presents. I know he's got a lot of fans, and overall, I like his vocals, but I can't stand him. I really can't, although I think he deserves to be there. I honestly could see Kris in the finals with Adam. Hands down. Look at the iTunes downloads. Not obviously a real factor, but who has the most downloads? Kris and Adam. Danny third. Allison fourth and Matt fifth. That's exactly how I think the season COULD play out, although I'd LOVE to swap Danny with Allison. I just want to see Danny's smug face when he's eliminated. |
