Ugh! I don't want Kara back next year! The four judge system sucks. It's because of this system that we haven't been able to hear the contestants sing two songs yet. Even tonight, they won't be singing two solo songs. Their second song will be a duet... to save time. What a crock! LoL

Also, how the hell are they going to fit Paula's performance into Wednesday's show schedule?

That pisses me off that Kara is going to be back. She ruins the show so much for me.
Simon can kiss my ass, picking THE MOST self-indulgent contestant EVER on AI to win.
I will be surprised if the rumored performance is true, I would expect Allison and Adam to be paired, since they are both rockers, and Danny and Kris to be paired since they are more bluesey singers. Oh well ... we'll see how it goes, I guess.
I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed for an Adam-elimination-shocker. So sick of him.

Paula Abdul Admits Drug Addiction

According to the New York Post, Paula is now admitting to a drug addiction. So she lied to ABC News’ Cynthia McFadden? SHOCK. Not.

Since she’s preparing to return to the music scene, the timing seemed right to bare her soul over the drug habit that she’s recently kicked. For the first time, Abdul reveals how hard it was for her to detox from a 12-year-long painkiller addiction.

Quote:

“I could have killed myself,” she tells this month’s issue of Ladies’ Home Journal.

The withdrawal was “the worst thing. I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain. It was excruciating. But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been.”

Paula swears she was never under the influence while filming American Idol. Yeah, right. Abdul says she kicked the habit last Thanksgiving during a stay at a spa resort.

Wow! I just listened to Paula's new single and it's going to be a total flop. Radio won't play it. It's very old school, and not in a good way, LoL.

^^^ Thats what I was thinking too, when I heard Ryan play it his morning ... it felt very much like her old stuff, but tired somehow. Yeah, old school, not in a good way .. lol. I feel bad, because I wanted to like it. Oh well.

I have alot to catch up on!

LMAO to Lil Rounds. Her ego rears it's ugly ahead again. Now I feel no sympathy for her or her situation and I'm glad she's gone. Better then Bette Midler?! Wow...

I like the duets idea. I've been kind of waiting for something like that too as other shows overseas have done it. It's interesting and that sure is a shakeup I can get behind. Those are the good kind of shakeups. However, I don't really like doing it at this point in the season because these people are all trying to win and the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if someone might try to sabotage things for the other. Not only that but if someone just sucks, it brings the other person down. I would prefer doing something like this earlier when there is more leeway. I agree with Kenny that this is their way of having two performances and not going overtime. People have been clamoring for the duet idea for years and just now they do it? They only went with it because of time constraints, nothing more. I look forward to it though.

Glad it's 70's and 80's Rock. There is alot of good stuff to pick from there.

As for Kara, Simon said on Ellen today that he felt she would be back. I want her back but not necessarily as a judge unless Paula actually leaves, which I doubt she will. I still feel Simon will convince her to stay. As long as Simon stays, I think the original 3 judges and Ryan will stick with the show. Kara knows the business and music. I think if Paula leaves, keep her a judge, If Paula stays, have Kara work with the contestants and maybe give her a segment on results show nights where she gives feedback on how they did the night before. Basically, make her a permanent mentor for the show and then have her give commentary on results nights to fill time. That would work IMO and would be better then the other filler they usually have.

Jesse getting arrested is not necessarily a big deal but I guess I should expect everything to get mangnified given she was on the show. That is typically what happens.

I look forward to Slash as a mentor too. I figured he would have reservations. Many people do when they are asked because they don't consider themselves the mentor-type. Hell, most do it only to plug or promote their movies or albums. I think when it comes to people like Slash, they feel like the show is too cheesy. There is a tendency for many in the music industry to look down on Idol because sometimes it is cheesy and the talent level is not always high but this year it is. This top 4 is the strongest ever and to hear Slash say that is no surprise. It seems every mentor has been impressed with them. I'm happy to hear they all picked cool songs and hope it all comes off well.

As for the whole thing with Nigel, as if anyone should be surprised. It was assumed they fiddled with the bottom 3 when they felt so inclined but the show doesn't exactly hide it either. Ryan will usually emphasize if it's the bottom 3 or 2 or not. He did that last week. He said right to Jaime Fox that Adam and Matt were the bottom 2. If he doesn't say this is the bottom 3 or 2, then it's not. You just have to pay attention to what Ryan says. It's always been known since around season 3 that they manipulate it at times when they feel like it for whatever reason (entertainment, boost someone's votes, etc).

As for Paula, hearing her sing and perform should be interesting. Can't wait to see the other judges, most notably Simon, react. That should be fun. I have to wonder if all this attention on Paula is either to say goodbye to her or to convince her to come back. First, they let her choreograph and now she gets to sing and perform? Seems deliberate. They have alot to do Wednesday night for sure. There won't be much time for much filler. The song is her typical sound though but, as Kenny said, it will not get airplay. Not surprised about the drug addiction. Seriously, everyone knew that and it's clear she was under the influence or at least effected by what was going on while filming Idol. Seriously are her and Kara competing over who has the most demons? Kara comes out to talk about her eating disorder and now Paula finally reveals her drug problem? Damn! I have to wonder if Paula may really leave now with all this emphasis on her returning to music.

Glad that Kara is staying only because she knows her stuff. If there are 4 judges next year, they just need to find a way to fix the time issues.

So glad the duets are happening but I'm SHOCKED Adam and Kris are performing together, if true. I wonder if maybe that is to show there is no feud between them. I was hoping Alison would be with Adam since that may help her voting a bit. I really think who goes home could depend on who each is paired with because of the way the performance may come together.

As for David Cook, my heart goes out to his family and friends. I'm sure they were prepared for this but it also seemed like they were hopeful this summer before things got bad again. I just hope he rests in peace and now it gives even more poignancy to David's "AC" guitar. I watched that video from the race over the weekend and it was emotional. Kudos to him for still going and for honoring his brother like that. He gave a beautiful, heartfelt speech. It was so poignant that his brother passed away the night before a race to find a cure to his brother's disease. I'm sure David will hold to his promise and continue to come back for that race and will do many other things for the cause in his brother's name. May his brother RIP.

I watch David's winning moment back alot too and while I'm sure I won't care as much this year as last, I won't completely write off this season. If it's Alison, I may care alot. I may care alot even if it's Kris. It all depends. Every year is different and that is how it's been since the show started. Not everyone is always going to feel the same about each season and not everyone is always going to like or care about the contestants of that season. It's all subjective to the individual. This season definitely has the most talent in the top 4 ever IMO but whether my level of caring or not is as high as it was last year or even close to it will depend on how things develop in the weeks ahead.

Can't wait for tonight!

Some RUMORS:

Kris - "Living On A Prayer"

Kris/Adam duet - "Under Pressure"
Interesting choice for Kris if true.....

If that duet pair and song choice is accurate that will be something to see, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie sang Under Pressure originally.

I must have really bad taste because I liked Paula's new song, of course I like 80's music......

^I agree. I would assume Kris would be putting an entirely new spin on that song so I'm anxious to see what he does with it, if that song choice is true.

As for the duets, if that spoiler is true, it could be interesting or a mess because Kris and Adam are polar opposites LOL. I can see Danny and Alison working out better but I hope these aren't true because I wanted Adam and Alison together in hopes that would help her out.

Here are some song spoilers I found on TopIdol:

Allison Iraheta — Gold Dust Woman

Danny Gokey — Dream On

It also said that Kris is singing a Beatles song and that Adam is most likely dueting with Allison and Danny with Kris. That makes more sense, especially IF the rumors are true of Adam and Kris not getting along much. I mean, Adam and Alison need to be together. The rock chick needs to be with the rock guy LOL. Not only that but it gives them an excuse to give Adam the pimp slot again by using the excuse that they gave the slot to Alison as well. Alison has not had that spot since top 9 anyway. If it's true that Adam and Alison are together, I will truly begin to wonder if maybe the show is pushing for Adam and Alison in the finale, which is what they should do anyway if we can't get Alison and Kris. It would definitely be the most appealing.

Danny and Kris together could be very boring though. That is why I think that if the pairings are Danny/Kris and Adam/Alison that the show has changed it's mind and wants the Adam and Alison finale because putting Danny and Kris together could tank them both, especially Danny because his fans may feel secure about him coming off his success last week.

Not too sure about the song choices. I can see Danny butchering "Dream On." I understand why he is taking it because he can use his upper register alot but Micheal Johns, who was much better then Danny, had trouble with that song because he ended up screaming the chorus rather then singing it. I can see Danny having a similar experience. We'll see.

This is the night I've been waiting for all season. I love rock night. The only other themes I like more are Movie soundtrack night and country night.

ETA: I just read on the DialIdol forums that there was an accident on set and Debbie, who I guess is the stage manager (Ryan has referred to her numerous times on air), has been injured. It is said that a glass tower exploded.

LoL, Ryan just tweeted that there has been no dress rehearsal due to technical difficulties before the show. I wonder what clips they'll be using during the recap tonight? They usually use the clips from dress rehearsal.

What a mess. Debbie has been rushed to the hospital and it sounds a little chaotic at the studio. Apparently there was debris all over the stage and it sent everyone rushing in a mad panic.

I figured as much because of the accident.

I just hope everyone is ok. It will be interesting how they handle the recaps and if this in any way affects the performances if there is debris all over. News of it just began circulating so it had to happen within the last few hours so it could have a big impact.

"Debbie The Stage Manager (THE GODDESS) fell down the stairs! And then was wheeled off on a stretcher. And then when Ryan came out, THE STAGE STARTED FALLING APART.

HELLO? I said those spinning orbs squeaked! The GYROSCROPE FELL INTO A GIANT SILVER ARCH!

Then everyone cleared out of rehearsal, ambulances were everywhere.”

Yuck, Adam.

This is definitely rock, but the screaming... I'm just over it. OVER. IT.

Did he get extensions? That eye makeup is hideous.

Someone needs to teach Adam that less is more. Less hair, less makeup, less drag queen vampire clothing, less screaming... just less everything.

Adam rocked what has to be one of the hardest songs in the world to sing. No one can top this performance.
