Daisies, DSM and Eli: Is Closure Coming?

Wondering when and if we're going to see the final episodes of ABC's now-canceled Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money?

Stephen McPherson, the president of the network's entertainment division, expressed genuine-sounding remorse about killing the three shows on Friday. "I really love those shows," he said. "I commend the producers. They delivered what they promised, but we just weren't able to get the numbers that we needed." His mea culpa went on to say, "I wish we had been able to give the producers series-ending notice. Because of the timing, unfortunately, we weren't able to."

When pressed by TVGuide.com to give more specific details about when the series' final episodes might air, McPherson was cagey, citing the complications of local affiliates, the flood of new midseason programming on ABC and the general lack of available "real estate" in their schedule. "It's not as simple as saying, 'Let's find a spot for that,'" he said. Uh-oh. He went on to say that they're weighing their options, but it didn't sound good.

What do you think? Does ABC owe us closure? Or have you already picked up the shattered pieces of your lives and moved on?

Yeah, too bad you didn't even TRY to get those numbers by, oh, I don't know, promoting those shows or moving them to different nights/times.

Sometimes, moving shows can be bad though too. I don't know. Really, looking back on it, the characters of DSM were great...the dynamics, but the writing was the same week after week after week.

PD isn't for everyone.

And I never watched Eli Stone so I have no idea. Haha.

Maybe in Season 1 it was. This season is when it began to hit its stride, and it was on fire. I really think it could have been more successful on another night, perhaps in B&S's timeslot, following DH. Anyway, we'll never know if it would have worked or not, because they never even bothered to try.

Season 1 was great.

Season 2 was...not so much. Well, it was at the beginning. It was definitely trying, but it was a lot of regurgitation. Kind of like B&S right now.

You liked Season 1 better than 2? Wow!

As soon as I suspected DSM would get cancelled, I cut myself off immediately. Unfortunately, this meant that whole episode where that girl was hit by the car LOL (if I even finished that one). I heard an episode after that one was superb, though. I'll watch it eventually, but I was just so invested in this show from day 1 that it's frustrating. I don't even like getting into new shows anymore .... the plug always gets pulled!

I loved Season 1! I always thought the Simon Elder character was kind of random and boring though. He's just SO (!!!) unbelievable to me as a billionaire. I don't know why, I just don't feel he pulled it off, or really suit the cast. That whole back story was a snooze too.

Season 2 was good (Lucy Liu BJ scene anyone? I actually did like the scene though Lol) - I just felt the show was dragging Nick and Karen in circles. Nothing ever happened. Lisa was repetitive. Season 2 was really hot and cold - like there would be a GREAT episode, then a really sloppy one. The inconsistency was pretty bad.

I love Brian Jr. also, he's a GREAT actor!!! He should go far - so cute too!

^ Really? I don't think there was a single episode in Season 2 that I didn't like.

I loved Season 1 too, but the episodes seemed more self-contained then, and less soapy. I feel like the first season was WAY more repetitive than the second, where something big seemed to happen in every episode.

^ Well, I never saw episode 3 because it was removed from all online sites right away, but I hear that the Nick mom thing was horribly done. Like, sloppy and daytime style.

I liked most of S2 as well. I think the payroll and production costs of DSM were probably too high to justify - too many big names.

True, season 1 was very repetitive - nothing REALLY happened. All good ideas, but the show kept holding back from any action as if they wanted to "save" it...for what, who knows, but it ended up being too slow.

This is yet another example of why I don't invest in primetime much anymore. I liked Eli Stone, I found the show to be funny and interesting. I barely watch anything in primetime throughout the week. I think the only show I watch regularly is Scrubs now that its back on, Brothers & Sisters which I miss half the time and Heroes.

Season 2 was a lot of regurgitation.

Season 1, everything was fresh and a lot more happened, IMO.
