RealityBlurred CBS will air Big Brother 11 in summer, is now casting “articulate, interesting” people CBS has renewed Big Brother for an eleventh season, but it has abandoned its poorly conceived spring season, and will air the next season in the summer. In its announcement of the renewal, the network brags that this summer’s edition “averaged nearly 7 million viewers this summer … and proved strong counter programming opposite the summer Olympics.” Casting for the next season has already started; the application [PDF] is on CBS’ web site. And the eligibility requirements [PDF] have an interesting statement about who they’re looking for: "The Producers are looking for a dynamic group of individuals who are articulate, interesting and exhibit enthusiasm for the project as well as a willingness to share their most private thoughts in an open forum of strangers. This group of individuals, while meeting the technical requirements of the program, must also have sufficient physical, psychological, and mental capacity to endure approximately 100 days in a monitored house under extraordinary conditions." I’d mock that relentlessly except this summer season actually was classier than normal, even with the public sex, Ollie’s homophobic outbursts, and Jessie’s anti-Semitism. If they cast a group of crazy but not thoroughly horrifying people who are all strangers, and stay away from stupid twists, we may be seeing a different sort of its show for its second TV season decade. |

I miss Big Brother! I miss the backyard. I miss the HoH room. I miss the kitchen, the bathroom, the scheming and lying! I miss feeling like a creeper and watching every move these nutjobs make. I miss waiting hours for the results of a POV Competition. I miss wanting to throw a hammer through my TV when someone I loathe wins HoH. I miss Chenbot. I miss it all. :( |

Yeah, I need my escapism back. This makes it sound like it could be another good season. I'm crossing my fingers. |

Me too! But I'm LoL-ing at the part where they say applicants must be psychologically sound. Truth be told, I think they give everyone psychiatric evaluations and if you're found to be mentally sound, you're automatically cut. They want the crazies! Look no further than BB2's Justin and Shannon, BB3's Chi-wora, BB6's Maggie, BB8's Whaaamber (aka SeaHag), BB9's Natalie and Amanda, BB10's April. Funny how must of the nutjobs are the women, LoL. |

You thought Shannon was a nutjob? I just thought she was an evil bitch. Remind me what Chi-whora did? I know I hate her, because Amy is my #2 fave houseguest. And Maggie, how is she insane? She was just boring. And shut up, Amanda was da BOMB! |

Yes, I thought Shannon was a nutjob, LoL. Chi-whora didn't necessarily do anything that was crazy. It was more her crazy sex stories and general sluttiness that drove me up a wall. Maggie was a cult-leader. I liked Amanda too. :) But one can't deny that she was flat out nuts on the feeds. They never showed just how crazy she was on the show, but on the feeds? OMG. Absolutely insane. There's a reason that she was responsible for the biggest fight in the show's history. |

LMAO, remember YeastGate? "I did NOT tell everybody that you had a yeast infection! You were washing your bloody panties in the sink!" Just another example that this show doesn't want sane people. They love the crazies! |

That was such a crazy night on the feeds. About an hour after that fight was when Amanda collapsed and Allison had that allergic reaction which closed up her throat and almost killed her, LoL. That whole night I was just like, "WTF?!" It was craaaazy. |

BB2's Autumn was definitely the crazy one. Shannon was just a bitch. I wish I could find the clip of her putting the chips in autumn's bed. LOL |

Only a few more months now! I have learned, though, that very few people who audition are brought onto the show. The casting people usually find them in other ways (through friends, through friends of friends, or meet them out in bars and such.) |

Aww, that was so mean! I was in Myrtle Beach during the week of Shannon's eviction and I made them turn the TV in our hotel restaurant to CBS just so I could see it, LoL. |
