Love the fake T-shirt. Love the Dilbert comic way the heck upthread.

If Days is trying to upend trueloveforever so the writers are free to pursue alternate pairings they're going way too far in the opposite direction, imho. I don't believe that anyone really loves each other. I'm not convinced they even like each other. Sometimes, I'm not even feeling the lust. They need to friggin' write one thing properly and then worry about the future. Would that they were so lucky to stumble into another Bo/Hope, John/Marlena, Patch/Kayla that captures viewer attention for years

About Bjorlin...Bjorlin bugs the crap out of me. Rather, the fact that she gets paid to "act" while others go hungry bugs the crap out of me. She created a void of suck when she first appeared and she hasn't improved in the decade since. I've heard she's attractive but from my perspective she's too plastic-looking, sometimes too orange, and the pounds of hair piled on her head is distracting (which- maybe she has trouble emoting because her neck is sore from holding that shit up). Nothing against her personally, I'm sure she's a lovely human being. I would just rather she be lovely somewhere else, 'cause the idea of her making money doing this makes me angry.

As far as Daniel/Chloe generating buzz- no doubt there's buzz. That's not anything Higley or anyone else did, and it has nothing to do with the actors either, imho. Two arguably attractive people screwing on-screen will bring attention. There's a whole damn industry based on the same premise. Showtime/HBO have banked on it for years. And if all Days has left is softcore porn, they could at least do a better job of it.

I heard Nadia was supposed to be gone last Fall.
If only we had been so lucky.
Bwahaha!

Veering a bit from the conversation, I think the reason we don't hear from the head writer anymore is because DAYS head writers always get burned when they speak to the media. Hogan learned that lesson after he talked about some of his big plans, only to have them nixed. That's when he stopped talking about the show.

Corday, on the other hand, has no problem lying to everybody. When there's egg on his face, he just wipes it off and tells more lies.

I still can't get over the T-shirt comment. Didn't he also buy T-shirts when JER introduced the SSK and wiped out several characters? It's like every time there's a bloodbath, he buys T-shirts for everybody.

By the way, is he still writing checks to JER's estate or is that relationship over now?

This is an excellent point. Maybe Tomlin needs to start doing the interviews.

YES! YES! YES!!

Brilliant, px. God, I love you.

But let's revisit that "Days"-becomes-porn-idea, shall we? Shawn Christian screwing Nadia Bjorlin would BE SO FUCKING HOT!! If Corday wants the ratings to go up, just go balls-to-the-wall and move into hardcore. My favorite soaps last year were Co-ed Confidential (on late night Cinemax) and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sex Games Cancun (the Berrishes' swinger parties!! )

Corday, do your parents proud and keep the legacy going the most surefire way: how many BILLIONS of dollars does the porn industry make?

and how many billions does the soap industry make?

Exactly.

Wow...Okay, this is so off base. Tomlin was the one who got rid of KR. (there were rumors she might have been the blind item but I don't think that's why she was fired) JKJ even gave that interview in SOD saying that he wanted to try Phloe again.

Um, no. KR and Scott were fired within days of each other, and Tomlin didn't come on board until later. The mags didn't officially report her leaving until almost two weeks after Scott, but in her exit interview KR said she found out about being off canvas for two weeks and going on a "trip" once her character returned, not knowing whether or not she would remain on the show. On her day back on set she was informed that it would be her last day. Without her champion around to keep her in a frontburner storyline, she was gone. Higley is the one who got KR fired, just like she got Shelle booted because she didn't want to write for them either.

Tom Casiello said Hogan had no intention of doing Shelle and Phloe - they were writing for Phelle and Shawn/Chloe. The direction didn't change until the writer's strike. Given several years it is entirely possible that it eventually would have become Shelle and Phloe again, but that's not where things were headed with Hogan.

Tomlin noticed the Phloe chemistry, but I think because of JKJ dragging his feet with his renewal, the show couldn't potentially start up another storyline that would flame out in a few weeks if he chose to leave. So instead they stuck him with Stephanie and Melanie in mundane and pointless stories just to give him something to do until he decided to re-sign, because it would have been very easy to disentangle him from those stories. Apparently they decided to just continue on with what they had - maybe Tomlin was trying to stop the mid-stream changes with all the relationships and give it some consistency.

As far as I can tell Higley is the only one giving Phloe fans any crumbs at all.

I think your right. I felt so bad for Hogan back then too. I mean, he really shouldn't have came out with all the previews and discussed so much of his plans but he knew the show has been through alot and he was excited. You could tell he was. He had no idea Corday was about to do what he did and piss all over his plans. Not only that but he got jumped on by so many people out of the gate. Fans thought that all he said would come true right away and, when it didn't, they wrote him off immediately. Hogan was screwed from the start, basically.

Higley will once in awhile give a story preview but I don't think we've seen her do a long-term preview. I think because Tomlin has control now, Corday ends up being the mouthpiece. I wish it were the other way around because we already know Tomlin has a vision and that he sill stand behind it with conviction. Corday will just waffle and through shit out there with no attempt to make sense. Just to hype up anything he can is what he tries to do. I think Corday thinks it's better he speaks because this way if he has to get involved or if plans change, no one will know about it. He controls what is said but the moron still screws up because alot of the time half the shit he previews gets changed.

I don't think they really stumbled into anything, though. Each of those pairings was so deliberate. I love the eighties couples, but after watching the last few years, I feel like their chemistry is way overemphasized, and their story taken for granted. As an actor, you can do a lot more if you know where your character and your story are headed, and you have some assurance that the show is committed to seeing it through.

So many characters and pairings have been cut off at the knees recently.
