Soaps.com has learned that March 12 2009 marked World Kidney Day Event, which was sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California. The cast of Days of Our Lives was out to support World Kidney Day along with George and Ann Lopez, who were there to support those actors without SAG cards, who do not have the insurance to get checked out on their own. At the World Kidney Day Event, actors could get checked out for no charge.

In an interview, Suzanne Rogers’ (Maggie Horton) shared that her own mother had a tumor that wrapped around her kidney and her ovary like a tentacle and because of surgery, she’s alive and well and was with Suzanne at the event. Suzanne encouraged people to drink a lot of water, daily in order to flush out the kidneys.

Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton) was there to lend his support and even got his blood sugar tested, saying it was fine. He was there, trying to bring awareness to the organization, and mentioned his work with Autism Speaks. His son is Autistic, so he is heavily involved in charity walks and foundations. Here's a clip of the event.
