Short Season for Big Brother 11? Is Big Brother in for a short season? Say it ain't so! CBS has announced that the Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, September 13th this year, a week earlier than previously reported. At first glance, it may appear that this will result in a simple Sunday night pre-emption of Big Brother, but football will be airing the following Sunday. Say what? This leads my trained eye to believe that Big Brother 11 will end on Thursday, September 10th (or even Tuesday the 8th), which means that this will likely be a short nine-week season. Bummer! Several weeks ago in a segment on CBS's "The Early Show," Julie Chen reported that there will only be ten houseguests this season, and most fans speculated that Julie made a simple mistake when she reported the number. Now, it's looking more and more likely that Julie was correct and Big Brother 11 will be a short season with only ten houseguests as a result. For all you optimists, it's possible that the network will simply switch the show from Sundays to Saturdays in early September to allow for a regular length season, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. ---------------------------------------- If this is correct, I'm officially pissed. We usually have fourteen houseguests. Last year they bumped it back to thirteen. Now the show is probably going to end earlier than usual and we'll only have ten houseguests. Combining this with the news that Housecalls has gotten the axe and there will be no wrap party this year, things aren't looking too good for the future of the show. What will they cut next -- the feeds? That's when I'll really pitch a fit! LoL |

I can handle ten houseguests...as long as they are good! Plus, this means we can get an Inviction. :) |

Ten houseguests is LAME. The house is already half empty! The feeds are most interesting in the first half of the season when there are many houseguests and lots of room for strategic gameplay. It's not as fun later in the season when there's hardly anyone left and not enough players for any real strategy to take place. Do you know whether or not this is true, King? |

My guess is that's it's going to be like Season 8 10 players announced with 3 or 4 "secret players" hiding in the HOH room |

Even if it's cut to 10 weeks there would still have to be 12/13 players Week 1 - 13 players Week 2 - 12 players Week 3 - 11 players Week 4 - 10 players Week 5 - 9 players Week 6 - 8 players Week 7 - 7 players Week 8 - 5,6 players (Double Eviction) Week 9 - 4 players Week 10/Finale - Final 3,2 |

But if the show ends on September 8th or 10th, how could they do that? They'd have to do a double eviction nearly every week, right? LoL |

I was reading Marcellas's website and I didn't know he was a celebrity fashion stylist for Justin Timberlake, Sharon Stone, David Schwimmer, Jayma Mays, Eddie Cibrian and Jennifer Finnigan. Color me shocked. |

That final week wouldn't work, LoL. When they do an eviction at Final 3, they do it with the three-part competition, which usually takes a number of days to complete. They have an endurance competition one day, another competition the next day and then the final competition on the live episode. There's no way they could do all that on a live Tuesday episode (especially endurance) and then have the finale two days later -- not with the jury questioning, etc. It takes a while to tape the the jury questioning and edit it together, etc. They would have to do two double evictions earlier in the season, and even at that, it's pushing it with the timing of the last week. There's just no way they could squeeze it all together. |

I agree, 10 people isn't enough! Already being down to single digits the first week would suck. |

I bet it was Julie's idea to have a short week, so she can spend time with her newborn. lol 10 people is a little. I know I said I wasn't pissed but I think we should have atleast 12 HGs. |

July, August, September Posted Image There will have to be at least 12 players (13 if they do double eviction) If there were only 10 players the game would end on Sept 3 Premiere- 10 players June 16 - 9 players June 23 - 8 June 30 - 7 July 6 - 6 July 13 - 5 July 20 - 4 July 27 - 3 Sept 3 - Finale Also if it's 10 weeks that would put the finale at September 17. July 8-Sept 10 is only 9 weeks Edited by Rick, Jun 2 2009, 04:10 PM.

I wouldn't have a problem if they pared down the 14 or 13 houseguests to something like 12, which I think they had during BB2 and it was down to 10 super quick because Justin and Sheryl both went like the first week. If there are only 10 houseguests I hope there is a no-eviction week somewhere during the beginning. The beginning when there are the most people is the funnest part IMO. And starting with only 10 in that HUGE house is going to be kind of ridiculous with no one even having to sleep on sleeping bags at the beginning. Maybe if there are only 10 people they can turn one of the bedrooms into some sort of game room or something other than a bedroom? Edited by IMissAremid, Jun 2 2009, 05:19 PM.

I agree. A short season with so few people would just suck. There wouldn't be enough time or enough people for alliances to shift and keep the game fun. If this happens, so help me God, I'm blowing up CBS! LoL |

I heard that this is the last season of BBUK, so they're pulling out all the stops. |
