Thanks, Kenny.

But, MAN, that's SHITTY. They kill off who would probably be this show's saving grace?

It's like 90210 mass murdering Kelly and Brenda.

I think it's a BIG mistake.

I'm assuming though, that Sydney's murder will be theoretically be played out all season long, culminating in what or who killed her by the season finale?

If so, kind of genius, but at the same time, why would old school fans who tune in to see Syd only to have her offed before the opening credits? That part, I do not get.

Makes me a little less interested in watching, that's for sure.

^Exactly. I couldn't agree more. If they were going to bring back an original character just to kill them in the season premiere, they should have just brought back Matt Fielding. I always hated him and his blank stares. LOL

WTF was even the point of bringing her back from the dead then if they were just gonna kill her off again?!

UGGGGH!

The more I think about it, the more genius it is, in a twisted, wicked Melrose sort of way.

Bring back one of the most popular characters, from the dead no less, have the mystery of how she even returned from the dead, only to kill her off and have it be the season long mystery.

I dunno. I have very mixed feelings on this.

It sounds like it's probably true though. Rumors had there being a shocking moment in the shows first few minutes and this could definitely be it.

I just hated how I've built myself up to be so excited about her return, only to have her offed right away.

They better keep and use Michael on a regular basis or I'll definitely be pissed.

Oh, I'm definitely pissed. No matter how good this may end up being, it'll never be worth it, IMO. It's just stupid.

LoL, I had a feeling this wouldn't sit well with y'all.

My reaction was pretty much the same as the rest of you. I think my exact words were, "WTF?! Why did they bring her back from the dead only to kill her off in the first episode?!" I was really looking forward to seeing her in action.

I agree.

Ultimately, as intrigued as I am, I'm beyond pissed about this.

Although, on a related note, I've heard rumors that Rosa Blasi and Nicholas Gonzalez have been added to the cast, but it's simply a rumor at this point so who knows. And honestly, I don't care.

Which is sad.

I was more excited about this remake than I ended up being about 90210. Siiiigh.

Only way I'll be somewhat placated (though NOT happy) is if they show throughout the season how and why Sydney would die. Otherwise, to have her offed in the first five minutes and then not even explain it would NOT work for me, in the LEAST.

I was too. Now, upon learning this, I'm exponentially LESS interested.

Yep. It's bound to backfire on them. I almost hope it does.

And it's sad because I was really really wanting this show to succeed. MP is the ultimate guilty pleasure and to think of having Michael and Sydney back just thrilled me to no end.

I knew deep down it would be too good to be true.

Oh, how lame! Dead, resurrected and dead again within a single hour?

I wish they had brought Lisa Rinna back now, seeing her in the pool like a drowned rat would have been so satisfying.

I would have no problem with this if:

A.) They hadn't made such a big deal about her return like she was going to be with the show for awhile.

and

B.) If she wasn't already dead and now they are bringing her back just to kill her. Talk about overkill LOL.

I'm interested only because of the potential of the mystery and it serves as a nice springboard to introducing the new cast but the trouble is it will be hard to make the viewers care because these are all new characters so there won't be any investment in the mystery other then those who loved Sydney caring about who did her in. It will be hard to make the viewer care about the suspects and who actually did it unless it's Micheal or some other returning Melrose alum.

My hope is that maybe the show will bring on another big former Melrose star in her place. I mean, she was supposed to be the landlord so now who will it be? This will certainly create buzz but it hurts the excitement fans of old Melrose had for the show and that may not be good for this new version.

I think that's exactly why they're doing it. They're hoping that the shock value will make people say, "Oh my God, if they killed her in the very first episode, the crazy assholes in charge of this show will do anything! Now I HAVE to watch!"

Your probably right, Kenny.

I'm also not sure this will backfire on them as much as it should. I think some rolled their eyes a bit that she was returning in the first place because of how she died. Sure, many loved her but it still was a surprise and one no one expected.

It all depends how this plays out and if they can sell fans on the characters right away so fans will want to invest. If they do that, they will be fine. They have an ok cast and if they use Calabro and bring on some other former Melrose stars, the show could still do very well. I just think this causes some problems that may hurt the show right off the bat but we'll see.

Well, if that's the case, they're even dumber than I first thought when I read it was Sydney that would be killed off, because all this makes me want to do is NOT watch, I'm so pissed off.
