Ok, well lets say I WAS excited about the new MP. Syd and Kimberly were my favorite characters, so like a few of you said if they play out the entire season leading up to Syd's death I wont mind. Otherwise, I don't see my attention spand lasting for more than one episode.

To me, killing her off at the end of season one would be fine. That gives you a whole season to build up to it, get to know the characters, built emotional investment, etc. To just do it right away...it's just making things more difficult on the show and putting more pressure on it then there needs to be. No one knows any of these new characters yet so how can one invest in a murder mystery featuring nothing but new faces with the exception of Calabro? It just creates more problems IMO.

I suppose Sidney's death could bring a Josie Bissett cameo pretty early in the season too so, if it happens in the first episode, perhaps we will see Bissett early on.

I guess some of the good parts about this is that this new show will still have the over the top, shocking twists that one would expect from Melrose and it's great that there is a pool LOL. A body lying face down in the pool brings back so many memories from the old show LOL.

Maybe Sydney leaves the building to Michael in her will.......

I don't like this idea that much at all, if I want to see lame murder plots I'll keep watching DH.

*Technically* a pick-up isn't official. I think the CW upfront is Thursday (not 100%) so we will know then, but it's virtually a lock for the fall schedule. CW debuted 90210 on 9/2 last year, so I'm going to venture a guess it will be around then this year.

That would make it all come full circle.

Michael wasn't the landlord, but he was the building manager all of Season One. He was such a fucking tool about the rent.

Your right, it would make things come full circle. I would like that. It may help me too tolerate this move, even though I still hate it.

Considering CW has the Daytime Emmy's and Melrose is a primetime soap, I would expect Melrose to be heavily promoted during the Emmy telecast, which is a very good idea. Maybe they can even air a sneak peek during the Emmy's. I believe CW took on the Emmy's for that reason anyway...to help promote their shows. I expect Melrose to premiere in the week that follows the Emmy's. It would be cool if they had it air before or after the Emmy's but that won't happen.

If it is it's nice to see that the set kinda resembles the one from the original MP.

In a video preview of the first episode, Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and Violet (Ashlee Simpson) are shown talking by the pool just after the discovery of a dead body. Auggie says that he met the deceased woman in AA and she inspired him to become a chef.

If the official CW press release which offers a description of the show, here's what it says about the character of Auggie: "Sydney also played a pivotal role in the career of Auggie Kirkpatrick (Colin Egglesfield). After they met at an AA meeting, she became Auggie's sponsor and encouraged his dream to become a chef." Link here.

i am so annoyed about this, i wondering when it will hit the main stream colums. it so stupid to bring back the biggest draw for old viewers and then kill her off. kenny is there any way that we could be wrong? Does this mean the we will get one lousy episode with Sydney?

I think Sydney will appear throughout the season, but it'll be in flashbacks leading up to her murder. I agree, though, it is very stupid.

i might just give the whole thing a miss. Ive being watching 90210 for to see what they do with Jenie Garth's character, but if we know Syd is dead then whats the point in watching at all.

Holy crap, they actually asked Locklear to come back only to kill her off? LoL! I don't blame her for turning them down. What a crock. I guess Laura Leighton was in more desperate need for work.

It's so stupid to bring a character back from the dead only to kill them off again in the first five minutes.

Well it makes since why Heather Locklear didn't want to return..

Good for Heather! I was upset before, but now I'm GLAD she didn't come back, knowing Amanda would have just been killed off!

I think their whole concept is kind of silly.

Are Amanda and Sydney really that interchangeable? It's as if the writers just said, "We want to kill off a big character from the original series. We don't care who. We just want to kill a bitch. Amanda, Sydney, Taylor, Lexi... doesn't matter."

Now they'll have to re-tool what was planned for Amanda and make it make sense for Sydney, and... ugh. This just sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing Leighton in action!

Same here! I know we'll still be seeing her in flashbacks, but it's just not the same...

I really don't know what they're thinking with this. Do they really expect many old MP fans to stick around after Syd's murder mystery is wrapped? I just don't see that happening.

I think it would have been hilarious though, if they had finally agreed to bring Lisa Rinna back, only to kill Taylor off before the opening credits, LoL!
