http://www.welovesoaps.net/2009/06/primetime-emmys-change-date-again.html Primetime Emmys Change Date AGAIN Wednesday, June 17, 2009 Posted by Roger Newcomb (We Love Soaps) On June 1, the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards were moved from September 20 to September 13 because CBS might have a conflict due to a scheduled NFL doubleheader. Today the date was changed again, back to the originate date, to to avoid the MTV Video Music Awards. "After we announced plans for September 13, MTV informed us they were locked into the same day for the Video Music Awards, with venue and sponsorship agreements in place. We had the flexibility to move; they didn't," Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music & Live Events, CBS Entertainment, said in a statement. "It's best for the industry and the audience that these events not compete against each other.” Nominations will be announced on July 16. |

Really? The Primetime Emmys are changing their date because of the MTV Video Music Awards? That's like the election date moving, so it won't conflict with the final night of American Idol voting...sort of. |

Well, CBS and MTV are in the same family, they don't want their big programs competing against each other. |
