So now that Lindsay is in the role, I expect to see much, much more of the character. Wonder how long it will take for her to move in with Maggie? If it's anything like Passions we'll be seeing her every damn day.

I guess it was to much of a hassle to actually hire actresses or recast characters I care about. I could care less about Ari b/c she is so dull and life less now instead of bringing back Belle or Mimi they recast a character I can't stand and is useless ... Go figure!

I said they've been using fake-outs MORE. I know other soaps do it, and I know Days has always done it. I said that. Sorry, but to me Passions always seemed like they wouldn't commit to a couple and that they were constantly throwing bones to every possible fanbase (which is exactly what Days is doing now). I don't care about the length of the baby story. I'm not campaigning for it to end now, because IMO that would be ridiculous. Technically, it's barely even gotten off the ground. Long stories aren't the problem. There hasn't been a payoff in about a year. If the stories are going to be drawn out, there has to be payoff through out, and we're not getting that. And seriously...you want to talk about stories having a lackluster ending? DiMera/Kiriakis feud anyone?
The Dimera/Kiriakis feud was more of a springboard to other stories then a story itself. They can always go back to it whenever they want. It's a hard story to keep going unless you plan on axing either Victor or Stefano in the end because, frankly, that is what would have to happen. Otherwise, how would it end effectively? Yeah but it should never have been a springboard to other stories, it should have been a real story itself.

Lindsey will probably find it refreshing that she doesn't have to be an everyday character. I was shocked she never got burned out on Passions. Then again, within a year, I expect her to be on just as frequently as Sweeney and Zucker anyway. That is probably a major factor in this. Lindsey has the talent to carry a story. In fact, she can carry a show for periods at a time. It's fine as long as it never reaches Passions standards, which I doubt it will since Days has Arianne Zucker and Ali Sweeney.

Yeah but it should never have been a springboard to other stories, it should have been a real story itself. Maybe. Maybe not. It all depends on what your aiming toward as a show. I think it worked just fine for what they wanted to do. JMO.

I am definitely hoping that with Lindsay and Crystal coming on, we'll be seeing less of AS. I was nervous about that with AZ going on maternity leave and AS being perhaps the only female lead in that age range (depending on what happens with Nadia). I'm willing to give LH a chance and I already know I like Crystal.

It will be interesting to see what happens this Fall and winter. Arianne Zucker will likely not go MIA until around the holidays. Nadia's contract is up. Lauren Koslow's contract is up. You have Crystal coming back as Carly. Lindsey coming on as Arianna. Rumors of Louise Sorel returning. It will be interesting to see who leaves (if anyone), who gets the bulk of the airtime that will be vacated when Nicole is gone, and what shift in focus we see in other regards, if any.

There were having contract negotiations in 2003, so yes they could've cancelled DAYS back in 2003 if they wanted too.
Yeah, they were having contract negotiations with the OWNERS of the show: Corday Productions and Sony Productions. Brian Frons was interested of getting Days to ABC in 2003.
This is from Jason's site.
"DAYS OF OUR LIVES" RENEWED BY NBC FOR 1,300 EPISODES THROUGH MAY, 2009...JAMES E. REILLY NAMED HEAD WRITER **PLEASE NOTE: THIS PRESS RELEASE IS FROM 2003** **DAYS OF OUR LIVES IS UP FOR ANOTHER RENEWAL LATER THIS YEAR**
INFO, PLEASE: NBC and Sony Pictures Television have signed a five-year deal [tentative, with NBC to decide in the near future whether to finish out the five years] worth nearly $500 million to continue producing "Days of Our Lives" through May 2009. In addition, former "Days" head writer James E. Reilly, who currently serves as head writer for "Passions", has signed on to oversee writing on both series. Ken Corday will continue to executive produce "Days." TERMS OF THE DEAL: NBC will pay $1.7 million per week for "Days," down from the former $1.9 million it had been paying. Sony now has the right to air same-day episodes of "Days" on cable, as well as allowing the episodes to be downloaded off the Internet with a pay-per-view service. STATEMENT ON REILLY: "Jim is the right guy to be the creative leader overseeing the next wave of stories for Days...We saw in Jim someone who had a proven track record, and we wanted to bring him back." KEN CORDAY STATEMENT: "NBC has stood by us for a long time, and we're glad they're willing to give us five more years even though the market is tougher than it's ever been. I had qualms about it at first only because it's a huge task to write five shows a week, and now you're asking him to write 10 shows. But Jim has the appetite and the skills, so away we go."

So when the argument fails it's time for personal attack? Thank you. There's a difference in the argument failing and the other person just not reading antonyms. I should have followed Mason's lead.

Wait- rumors of Louise Sorel? Credible rumors or just random speculation?
That would hook me back in for a bit, I think. Depending on what they did with her.

Phoenix, you might have misunderstood one of the things I was trying to say earlier... If the show wanted Lindsay to come on, they should have just put her in the Arianna role instead of Felisha. You'd have had just as much buildup. I'll give Lindsay a chance. But I'd also like to see more Days returns. Not necessarily Deidre and Drake, but stuff like Wally and Crystal. Possibly Louise. Judi Evans? It is important to grow the audience and bring more fans in, but don't piss off the old-line fans that watched the show in the 1980s and 1990s. We're still here. :)
I get what your saying but the fact is they didn't plan on putting Arianna with Brady at first so why would they do that first? They clearly felt Felisha looked good with Darin and I agree with that. They casted Felisha as Arianna to be with Max. If they had intended to put Arianna with Brady from day one, they would've likely gone to Lindsey since she looks good with Eric Martsolf's Brady. Casting Lindsey from day one would've had some fans pushing for her to be paired with Eric again so the pairing with Max would have no chance. Darin quit shortly after Felisha was hired so they had to change gears. Okay, cool. Just clarifying. This wasn't handled very well anyway. It isn't the first time, though, and it won't be the last. And it isn't just Days, either. Other shows have let go actors and managed to F up the process. :)

Is he on the show? What's his character? He's in the credits this week, actually in the contract section. He's listed as Dean Hartman. He was the man that gave the candy to Ciara and has been circling Hope's picture in the magazines. Since John Aniston wasn't on this week, it's hard to be certain that he's on contract, but since his name came right after Casey Deidrick and before all the other guests (Maxine, Chris, etc...) it looks like he'll be on contract. I'm waiting to see if Aniston is listed next week, then we can be certain he is on contract.
