If the chimp shows up,and the witch with her bowl...DOOL is gone forever...I guess I am in the minority here, cause I think DOOL sucks right now...and this show is about plot, plot, plot
Your not as in the minority as you think..... ;)
Well thank goodness,,I was beginning to wonder,if I was watching something different than everyone else! ^_^

I think this is great news..Nice to have a stronger and experienced actress brought onto the show..And it's obvious Lindsay and Eric have chemistry, which Eric and Theresa did not...I just haven't cared for Arianna at all, so hopefully a new actress will make me like her...I hope Lindsay makes her a little more feisty..

Well at least there will be a talented actress playing the role of the most boring character introduced recently. I doubt she can make me like Arianna since that character is a pathetic prop for her brother....but I digress.

Actors get blindsided all of the time. How is this firing any worse than how the vets were treated when they were let go? It's Hollywood and I thing FT was exceptionally lucky to have scored that role in the first place. She needs some work.

I don't know anything about this Hartley woman, and I never really watched Passions, other than the witch woman and the baby with the bubbles thoughts, but I find it tacky and stupid to fire some decent people and not write for some current characters, then hire three of the same actors from a failed soap and put them in the same relationship as they were on the failed soap.

If I wanted to watch Passions, I would have watched it.
I guess this is great for Passions fans, but I think it is ridiculous for Days.

I don't think DAYS is trying to recreate itself as PSNS. The very thought of that is ridiculous.

I think DAYS is doing a smart thing, in theory. On paper, the thought of Lindsey Hartley acting alongside Galen Gering and Eric Martsolf is a golden opportunity. The chemistry was there on PSNS. However, and this is a huge however, lightening almost never strikes twice. Look at what GH faced when they brought on Stefan Nichols and Mary Beth Evans. The chemistry was no longer there. The same can be said for AMC with Beth Ehlers and Ricky Paull Goldin and GH again with Kirsten Storms and Jason Cook. The thought of two people who shared tons of chemistry on one show and were fan favorites sounds awesome. However, that usually doesn't work out.

Arianna is not Theresa. Rafe is not Luis (although Gering plays the two the same). Brady is not Ethan. The "it factor" may not be there anymore and I almost guarantee it won't be. The coupling of Arianna and Brady will continue to feel as forced as it was when Terrell was in the part acting opposite of Martsolf. But that's just opinion.

In my perfect world, DAYS will not try to bank on Brady and Arianna because of Martsolf and Hartley's PSNS past and will instead hook Arianna up with Lucas after he and Chloe are through.
Great post. I agree.

However, I do think it will make the Brady/Arianna pairing more tolerable and I do think that since Arianna is so much different from the Theresa character and Brady is much different from the Ethan character, it may work. Alot of the time when soaps do this, they write the character similar to their past characters on other shows and that is a major reason why it never seems to work. I doubt the Brady/Arianna pairing will all of a sudden become something can't miss but it improves it quite a bit having Hartley IMO and, at the very least, you now have a better actress in the role to help the character along so even if the pairing ends up failing (which it likely will in the end), you still have that.
The Cook/Storms reunion bombed with one scene, and at best Cook is only in an episode a week, but that is another story.

I like GG and EM on Days and I hope that this recast is just as successful

Note to Tomlin: Passions is dead. Stop hiring washouts from that show, just cause you're best buds with them and want to give them a paycheck.

There are far more talented actors and actresses out there with untapped potential, who could probably come cheaper than these slags. I would rather the show go on the look out and find another talent from out of no where.

This whole Passions trio didn't do shit for their own show, they're not going to do much for this one either.

I never watched Passions so have no idea what this actress is like - but I'm willing to give her a chance and see what she can do. Hope that she makes this character interesting and has chemistry with the guy who plays Brady.

If they're the bar for successful, then just. I don't know, just that the bar is really, really low.

There's talent out there. Talent that hasn't been tapped that just takes some effort from the casting directors to find, that could do far better in their roles on a soap and maybe, in turn, spur some interest.

The Brady recast? Garbage. Rafe? Unnecessary character, garbage casting. And now this.

I call it (all three) moderately sufficient casting, but not good and certainly not successful. And that's at best.

The problem with daytime is they keep using the seconds, thirds and fourths from other soaps where they weren't even that good anyway.

And that goes for both on screen and behind the writing desks.

I personally love this move, I just wish she was playing a different character. Either way LH is awesome, so good move for DAYS IMO.

I think EM has done great so far, so I really don't mond having EM and LH on DAYS. GG on the other hand is one of the worst actors in all of daytime and still hate I have to see him on my show almost everyday.

Because they fired her so they could hire LH who will be playing basically the same character she was playing on Passions. I, for one, am not interested in watching her interact with the same people in the same way under the same production style and similar writing style that got a show cancelled twice.

I'm going to wait and actually see what she does with the character before I make an opinion. I don't know. Hopefully, she can make Arianna more interesting and complex. I can't get into the character right now. I think it's too early to be slamming Lindsay Hartley considering that she hasn't even aired in one episode.

No shit!
Are there only a select few "special" people who are able to soap act and soap write?

Why do soap people keep hiring the same damn people to do a job that they bombed on before? Where else does that happen?
Maybe it might help the genre to bring in some new people with some fresh ideas?
It always seems like this EP is from another soap and they just swap around after they get fired. Writers too. And actors. That stupid!

Let's take an EP and lots of actors from a soap that had crappy ratings and eventually got cancelled, and put them on another soap because we are sure that they will do a better job. WTF! Better yet, let's put them in the same position as they were in the failed soap!
What a bunch of fucktards!

LA is filled with writers, actors, etc. Can we stop using the same people? Especially the shitty ones?

It's obvious that NBC wanted to save PASS and cancel DAYS but couldn't justfy axing the show with 500k more viewers and a more prestigious brand name. Their solution: expunge the latter's identity and use it as the host vessel for Passions' parasitic corpse. Ugh.
I kinda agree with that, NBC tried to cancel DAYS in 03, and said they would only save it if JER was let back as headwriter. So maybe you could be right.
NBC doesn't own Days and therefore they can't cancel it.

After all... tomorrow is another day!

Well so much for Bricole ever happening now. :(

Although it would be kind of fun seeing Ari Zucker and Lindsay Hartley fighting over the same man.

Never have been a fan of the Arianna character or the actress, so I hope LH is able to bring something more to it.
