What a shock  Thats part of the problem with Days right now.A newbie is all over our tv screen instead of established core character like Bo and Hope. KC must be having wet dreams about her all the time

If you look at the episode rankings from past years you will see there were new characters in the top as well, that is not something new.

Thank you for posting Jason!
This is not new - 1984 rankings prove it: Michael Leon (Pete Jannings) was a one S/L charachter; also this was Kristian's first year as Hope, so this is actually much like Molly taking the lead this year (celebrating a year as Melanie on the show).

Indeed...most of the people in those rankings were new at the time as well. Michael Leon, Mindy Clarke, Steve Eastin, Kyle Brandt, Heather Lindell, etc etc.

Melanie is hardly a newbie, she is there for almost a year now. And she is certainly not dominating the screen, her airtime is mostly 6-8 mins per day and she doesn´t even have a storyline on her own, DAYS just likes to use her as a support for anyone else.

Exactly.

Not saying it excuses it but sometimes some act like this trend came out of nowhere on this show LOL. It's been pretty consistent throughout the show's history. Airtime tends to ebb and flow to the point where there are months where someone new or relatively new does end up on top.

Personally, the balance at the end of the year is pretty much what is most important. That tells the whole story IMO.

Exactly.

It's not like her airtime from when she first appeared last year-November where she was frontburner and dominating the canvas for a time. They toned her down big time and cut down on her airtime for awhile. In late May, she started to see an increase in airtime but it's also summer so that is no surprise. She's very active on the canvas right now but she isn't a lead actress or anything.
