SOD Summary: Louise Sorel returns; August 18th issue

Please link to DR.

This week's SOD features interviews with Louise Sorel and Ken Corday regarding Sorel's upcoming return to Days.

Sorel says, "Everything old is new again!", and she continues that her return is "very sudden and unexpected." SOD says Sorel got a call from Gary Tomlin, who told her that Carly was returning and that maybe Vivian would return as well. Sorel says, "I always loved that character. I wasn't a happy camper leaving in the first place, so it's nice to come back."

SOD continues that Sorel has just relocated to New York, so now she'll be commuting to LA. Sorel says this is "ironic" because she's given up her place in LA.

Sorel is looking forward to working with her former castmates. She says, "[Days] becomes such a familiar place and comfort... when that stopped on the show, it was a shocker. You're stopped in your tracks and there's no home to go to, in a way. And that takes a lot of readjusting for anyone, so it will be nice to go back on those tracks."

Sorel says she has kept in touch with Crystal Chappell and Michael Sabatino over the years. She says she called Chappell when she "found out that she was going back to Days and that I might be too".

Corday says he is "thrilled" to have Sorel back, and that "she will have a helluva entrance and a big mystery and will be part of the story with the characters she worked with before, especially Victor and Carly."

Yes, but then things were old, and now things are new. See?

Thanks for posting, Ellie! I wish we had more info about her story but hopefully it really actually will be exciting.

That was Louise's comment, not Corday's but I see your point LOL.

The Vivian stuff sounds awesome but you have to love Corday saying he was thrilled to have her. I call BS on that. Louise and him did not get along at the time of her exit and it was obvious from the fact that the Alamain's were never mentioned on the show after she left (except for at John's funeral) that he wanted to forget about her and the family completely and never had intentions of bringing her or anyone from that family back. Tomlin is the man behind this and because he somehow (thankfully) influence Corday enough to do what he wants, we are getting these returns.

I'm not sure...so if I go to one of the luncheons Corday told me to go to, is my food fresh, or is it from 1992?

Come on, that was then, this is now. Do you really think that just because Corday and Sorel didn't get along 10 years ago he has something against her ?

I don't know if I would say Corday has something against her (though it wouldn't shock me if he did), but I certainly don't think Louise is someone he would have ever brought back to the show, himself.

I love that you quoted one of Corday's quotes in your post LOL.

Seriously, what Mason said is pretty much my thinking on this. I don't really think he wants her back but much he's done in the past with some returns (Thaoo, Joe, etc), he just puts his feelings aside and goes with it until those returning end up leaving again and then he just shows his true colors. He really has no choice here though. Tomlin is in control and has been for some time. Corday is just the spokesperson and the man who just signs off on everything.

IIRC it was Langan that chose to get rid of her.

You are probably right that this is all Tomlin but since Corday is the spokesperson he's not gonna say "I hate to have her back". He knows that she is very popular with fans and even though he personally may not like this he's going to milk this in order to get the fans excited for this fall

That's what I thought as well but I have read on this board several times that there was a conflict between Corday and Sorel, I don't know.

Oh, for sure.

Corday would never say he hates her publicly. If anything, you would have to read between the lines. Just take a look at the Arianna recast article that was posted today LOL.

Yeah, I was always under the imperssion that Langan got rid of Sorel. He was the one in charge back then, the "Gary Tomlin of the past."

Langan basically drove Sorel away with the teen invasion crap, but at the time, Corday and Langan's youth-obsessed vision for the show was pretty similar, so I doubt Corday had any objections at all.

Langan was a big part of it because he was taking over HW duties at the time but I do think Corday played just as big of a role. My take on it was that Sorel went to Corday to try to remain on the show and get him to listen to reason and he went with Langan because they shared the same vision so he hung Sorel out to dry, so to speak.

Whatever the case, she's back now and Corday will be hospitable about it until if and when she leaves again LOL. Then maybe he will make his feelings known.
