Tammin Sursok: "It was all a whirlwind!"

After nearly two years in Genoa City, Tammin Sursok is gone and Colleen is dead. The actress explains how she dealt with the sudden change.

"It was all a whirlwind," explains Sursok about her final scenes, in which Colleen was held hostage by a crazed Patty and dropped into the lake. "We were shooting so many scenes at once, I was just trying to remember my lines!"

Sursok says that she is happy her character's death served a greater purpose for Y&R. "I was satisfied with the way my character was written out. I think a little bit of drama is always fun, and I had a memorable ending that created some good storyline for so many other people. I'm glad I got to be a part of that."

Sursok says that her exit from Y&R was a mutual decision between her and the show. "It was becoming too difficult to do Y&R and then work out outside films and projects," says the actress. "I was actually in Iowa shooting a film during that time (when Colleen's final scenes were shot)," she explains. "They had to use insert shots of me (which were filmed beforehand) for when she was shown in bed in the hospital."

Tammin says she will miss all the friends she's made at Y&R, but she's hopeful for the future. "I'm going to have a little break, then I have a new project in the works. I am also enrolling in photography school and am very excited! I feel like I have a lot to look forward to."

I understand why the killed off Colleen, but I still wish they could've used someone else, and just release Sursok and recast the character.

They shouldn't have killed off the character, but recast the role. The writers are once again being really, really shortsighted - and it will bite them in the butt.

Ya because the role of Colleen belonged to Sursok. Whatever MAB.

I hate that they killed off Colleen. If Tammin was leaving all they had to do was send CC off the canvas for a little while and bring her back with a recast. Using her death to get a quickie wow factor isn't going to help the show in the long run. It would have been smarter to kill off somebody expendable and not as tied to the show, like Chloe, Amber, Jana, or Kevin.

The writers could have had Colleen going to Israel to be with her grandmother, recasting the role at a later date. Instead of killing the character off. Thanks for the article Kenny.

But how many times do you recast a role before it loses its identity completely?

The role of Colleen will always belong to Lyndsy Fonseca, and she was never coming back.

After all... tomorrow is another day!

I don't really have any attachment at all to the character of Colleen so I don't mind her being killed off. But it just seems so bizarre and unnecessary to kill her off to save Victor when he's being written out.
