Great for CBS/Let's Make a Deal, Bad for ATWT

These numbers are going to make it much easier for CBS to get rid of ATWT. A fraction of the cost of a soap with the same ratings. :(

B&B better watch out.

What is LMAD?

LMAD = Lets make a deal, a game show that replaced GL.

Back at the end of 1986, NBC canceled the longest running TV soap, Search for Tomorrow, and replaced it with Wordplay (which debuted at the end of December). Wordplay debuted to higher ratings than Search ever had during its NBC run. It maintained for a few weeks then started going in the tank. It went off the air in September 1987 not even lasting a year. Just saying.

DOOL proves that if you make good, soapy umbrella stories the viewers will come back.

DAYS was really good during that week so I am glad the ratings are reflecting this.

I just don't get why OLTL is doing so poorly... it has been so good lately. I just the majority of viewers dont think so lol

Days is doing quite well :cheer: They will be acknowledged as soaps most improved show for the year in all the soap media. I don't think we have to worry about Days coming to an end in 2010.
How sad is it that the top shows are Y&R,B&B and Days. The rest look like they're headed for cancelation within the next 12 months

I enjoy OLTL but a lot of the show gets pretty farcical at times like right now with the idea that Llanview PA's mayoral election hinges on which candidate supports gay rights more. I mean... I'm enjoying the story and really enjoy Fish and Kyle (meh about the other dude and don't like the lesbian adviser) and I support gay rights but it just comes across SOOOOOO PC and hitting us over the head about the POV, not too mention as a politics junkie it's hard for me to see the story as realistic when even a place like California can vote to overturn gay marriage last year, that I could see how a portion of OLTL's audience might have trouble connecting with the story.

It also seems to me that OLTL puts its newer characters front and center moreso than the other soaps. I can't remember the last day Fish wasn't on, for example. For a while it was the same way with Stacy. Pretty soon maybe I'll feel the same way about Schuyler. Now I think that makes the show more interesting than some other soaps, but if someone was watching OLTL six months or a year ago or two years ago and they were a huge fan of Nash or Marcy or Lindsay or Antonio and they wanted to get back into things... well there's nothing for them on those fronts now and a TON of newbies.

I've found OLTL does better in the ratings when it sucks on screen lol.
