I came in contact with a guy through Youtube and he used to have contact with composers in the early 90s. He told me there are plans to release a new soundtrack with background music from the show (for those that don't know they released one in 1998). He said it was supposed to come on November 1 but it looks like it's been pushed back, to January 1, 2010.
I don't know if this is true but I see no reason why this guy would lie to me.
So what do you guys think about this? I have always been interested in musical scores from movies and tv-shows and I already have alot of scores from Days that I have ripped from the episodes so I am very happy about this. I don't know if the new soundtrack will have the music composed by Marty Davich (80s-early 90s) or Corday and Nelson's music (mid 90s-present). The soundtrack from 1998 was Corday and Nelsons music but most of my favorites from them weren't even on it.

||Do they really think people will buy the shitty music they have on the show today? LoL|

|I'd rather buy a CD of the old Days music from the 1980s including the full original orchestral theme and not the crappy synthasized one they've used for the last 15 years.|

||The soundtrack from 1998 was good because the music was actually good back then. This techno-porno shit they play in the background today sucks and I don't want to hear it on the actual show, let alone in my free time.|

|I have this one that came out in 2005.|

LoL, I love the music from the 90s and most in 1999-2002.
But the problem with Corday and Nelson (if Nelson still works on Days, I heard he was fired/left in 2007) is that they keep replacing their own old ones and the new ones keep getting worse. You can put their music in several different categories. 1994-1996, 1996-1999, 1999-2002, 2002-2005, 2005-2007, 2008-present. And each category was worse than the previous, but I have to say, it has gotten better this year. 2005-2007 had without a doubt the worst music.
Now in 2009 I have notice a few new scores that I love, they've played mostly in scenes with Victor, Philip, Stefano and EJ, especially during the feud earlier this year.
I personally think Marty Davich is very overrated, especially his early 80s stuff. He got better in the late 80s-early 90s. My favorites from him were Jack and Jennifer's Theme and Victor's Theme.

I thought some of the scores on the 1998 soundtrack was good and some were mediocre. I missed my favorite 90s scores on that one.

The music sucks ass as it is. I seriously want to curl up in a ball and hide when some of the horrible 'sexy' music comes on - it's soo embarrassing, and totally ruins a scene.
2006 had awful music, but honestly, it ain't much better now. Who would buy this CD? LOL.

I have the first soundtrack, and it is good, but it is reallllly walking the fine line of some of the shittier songs. Right on the cusp of Morrina's DAYS.
The second one...that Valentine's Day one, yeah I passed on that.
As for this third one, it depends on what is on it.

I have gotten some new information.
- The company is ramping up efforts on the soundtrack... could see a relase date very soon.
- It will cover the gammut of many storylines and be 2 cds.,,, the first one will be emotional and sympathetic and the 2nd one will be movement, tension and horror.
- He also told me it will be like nothing you have heard... the way it is put together.

||I have the 2005 cd too Angie. I like it. It is nice because some of the stars sing on it. Arianne Zuker, Kyle Lowder, Peter Reckell and Tonya Boyd. I was thinking Peter's wife Kelly sings on it too.|

Sadly I wished this soundtrack was including scores from Marty Davich's time during DOOL, guess Corday wants to showcase his own.
GOOD NEWS though........someone has posted a soundtrack that I believe was only on cassette in the 1980's that showcases many popular scores of famous supercouples. THIS IS WHEN DOOL AND THE BACKGROUND MUSIC WAS EXCEPTIONAL.
Here is a perfect example:
Roman and Marlena's theme:
Thank you to this user for uploading some of Davich's scores!

|Eek! I'm suddenly swept back to being a kid and watching DAYS. I *so* adore Marty Davitch's underscores and themes. I think classic DAYS, and he's music is right there as an intregal part. I especially love his underscore that always seemed to play under angsty or emotional scenes.|

If you're going to buy anything off that page, buy the Bear McCreary Battlestar score its recomending.

|OMG! Kim & Shane's angsty theme! I can't tell you how many times in the mid-1980s the show would end on Patsy Pease sobbing her eyes out and that theme carrying through over the end credits. I am so snagged all of these to play on my computer for inspiration whenever I get around to doing a DAYSfic.|
