Peter Bergman On Y&R Pay Cuts: "Eric Braeden Was No Exception"

Posted Image

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly to commemorate his 20 years at The Young and the Restless, Peter Bergman sounds off on Eric Braeden's recent paycut drama.
Quote:

Eric Braeden has been very vocal about his recent salary negotiations, especially about how he was being told to take a pay cut – or else. Had you experienced the same type of negotiation?
Everybody on this show was asked to share in some of the burden and Eric was no exception.

Did you really expect that Eric was going to leave?
There were days that we all thought he was going to be gone. In the end it was fighting with a corporation, and the corporation was going to win. It wasn’t whether or not they were going to fold. It was always whether or not Eric was going to agree to come back for a lesser salary.

Here's the thing: Colleen may have tried to help Patty, but she would not have been out there if Victor didn't try getting the two misfits (Jeff & Gloria) to bring Patty to him. She'd have been chillin' out at the Abbott cabin.

And of course Victor was going to get revenge on Jack. That was inevitable, but he chose to use an unstable woman to go after him. He knew Jack would eventually rebuff her and that'd cause her emotional and mental distress. Yadda yadda, she probably would have finished the job of shooting him.

Jack's actions didn't really lead to anyone getting killed. Victor brought Patty into town so that she'd flip her shit and unload on Jack, again. And that action claimed casualties. Summer, Zapato, Colleen. All Jack did was try to frame Victor for a murder that he actually committed.
I don't believe for a minute that Victor would have brought Patty back if he had known the havoc she would wreak.
Everyone is responsible for patty going cocoa puffs, Jack for making her nuts, although she evidently was fragile in the first place, I don't remember anything about her being in therapy at all, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen, I just don't remember it , Paul is responsible, he's a private eye, why hasn't he tried to find his sister all these years? Victor is responsible for finding her, interesting that he could find her but Paul couldn't, but that's a whole other story.
Maybe Mary's damn spareribs and sauerkraut made patty nuts! :D

^^ I'm guessing when they hooked her up with the human sleeping pill John Driscoll. He was always good for a few zzzzzzzzzzzzzs on Guiding Light when I needed them

The Abbott family, once a core family in Genoa City, full of family members, looks so sick and death-like.

I'm shocked they haven't. With the way they write Jack seeming to want a child of his own so much and as a father figure to Billy and Colleen (when she was alive). It seems obvious they'd bring back Kyle as a teenager and perhaps pit him against Noah.

I am sure if and when Kyle returns to town, he will be Noah's rival....but who knows when that will be. The Abbott's have not been the same since Gloria turned their lives upside down (and I still hope they find out about that bitch helping Patty escape and taking her to the Abbott cabin).

Oy....and things are only gonna get worse when the truth about Faith comes out...

Nope, and it appears that Daisy and Ryder are brother & sister.

I thought Kevin did a DNA mail in kit thing on Ryder when he was in jail....

I think I may have finally thrown in the towel for now. I haven't watched in over two weeks and don't even care to watch the episodes I've missed and feel no remorse for missing them. Never thought I'd be down to pretty much one soap. I do tune into AMC occasionally and will be doing so more then that once Pratt's stuff quits airing.
